I don't know anything about this book or this show, but I'll say this.... Kudos to make up in wardrobe because all of these actors look like people from the 1940s. It's not modern actors desperately trying to look like they belong. Movies and shows do not always get this right, so when they do, they should be commended.

Joey King is a versatile actress. She knows how to pick her projects well. Seemed like she's gone far and beyond to further receive accolades for her own performances onscreen.
The Kissing Booth movies didn't do any favours, The Act was where it showed her true potential, my god she was incredible in the series. Was the first time where I didn't see Joey King as Joey King trying to act, it's Joey King that became another person

The Kissing Booth movies and Netflix's "A Family Affair," completely beg to differ. The only thing that she's ever done that was worthy of praise was her role in The Act. This role looks a little bit more challenging, though.

@@snakebite6648 not sure who does this version of the song. But the original is “Long as I Can See the Light” by CCR (Creedence Clearwater Revival). This seems to be a custom arrangement done for this trailer. Really blew my mind to hear that song arranged like this.
Britt Warner is the singer. Hulu/Disney won’t release the song, but it is sitting on iTunes if they would approve its release.

Maybe not, considering (SPOILER ALERT !!!!) they all survived. The five brothers and sisters, their spouses, and their parents.

This was scored to incredibly sensitive, moving music; the acting immaculate by its flawless casting. My goodness! The matron Mother gave a performance, so authentic and rare, gifted was a closeness I’ve only ever felt toward my own.
Indeed, the only hesitation I felt as audience was by explosive suspense, wherein a gut-wrenching stir stood its ground, fiercely, from the first episode and its beginning scene, through to the eighth - and last.
However, it envelops a swift, but not hasty; fast, but not rushed; quick, but always patient: matured style of drama. By that process, I soon came to feel the heaviness that had struck my mind lift itself, and so any discomfort… no, not all the way, but enough so let there be room for *hope* - it’s in the title after all - and brilliance. What more could you hope for in a period so dark?
My take: Enter with caution for one’s emotions, but commit to all eight episodes with spirit; and lo, you’ll learn a thing or five about the world and this life and the exquisite that is love by closeness and intimacy, by bond and of family!
This trailer is so magnificent but I'm already crying 😢 I don't know if I can't handle the full film!

I can't be the only one who has watched this series multiple times...I love it!...the story telling and what they endured and the ending always give me goosebumps. It also has inspired me to learn more about the Holocaust in a way that I didn't learn as a kid.

Incredible ! Produced...acted and done extremely well. Each episode leaves me very upset. Not being a history buff at all...I find this so disturbing but a series that everyone should watch. The acting is beyond excellent.
