I visited epcot for the first time just two years after this video was made and it is the epcot that I remember very well. Thanks for the memories.

Miss Horizons and the way the entire Future World entrance looked. Was thrilled to see the three acrylic fountain prisms return!! And those hideous tombstones moved.

I enjoy Epcot these days but there was nothing like it back in the 80s and 90s. Riding Horizons for the first time and going thru sea base Alpha as well as the other timeless classics.
Also, if I’m remembering it correctly, Innovations with sega, Nintendo, as well as all the things to play around with. Such a wonderful and magical place back then.

This is one of those home videos which transform themselves into valuable footage. I remember being there in 1985 and thought everything was high tech, and all of these things look so dated, lol. Very nice!

LS R They do look dated by today's standards. You should see the amount of equipment I was dragging around the park to film it. All with no concept of the internet and UA-cam and the idea that someday I may be sharing the footage through digital means. Nevertheless, Epcot had some things then that they don't have now that I miss, like the tour of the command center hosted by a 16 inch hologram. Somehow we could be amazed by the changes in technology back then in ways that today we don't get much rise out of.

That's great. Glad it meant something to you. I have been back many time over the years and it's been great every time, but never as magical as when I was young and it was all so new and changing so quickly.

Exactly same for me. I was 3 in 86 when the family brought me there.... seeing this video was cool! My memory of floating through the future in space, watching all these futuristic families blew my mind at the time. I actually believed we were somehow floating through space.

@@GreigKennedy1968 Yeah I have been back my first time was late 80's maybe 87? It was always the most magical when we were kids, its still a great place but just not as good as when we first experienced it!

This is an awesome video! Thanks for posting it! I went there in 1985 and 1987, but we didn't have a video camera, we just have slides. It's refreshing to see families connecting with one another. It seems like nowadays, everybody's eyes are on their phones. I miss those old days!

Thanks for the comments. I miss them too. I appreciate the technology of today and in a paradoxical kind of way Epcot is in part responsible for the advancement of the tech that your are referring to today. It's our responsibility to use it in moderation. To film this I had a camera the size of a bread loaf with a fat wire going into an actual VCR I had to carry in a bag on my shoulder the size of a microwave.

Some incredibly great closeups on "Carousel Of Progress" in the "Now Is The Time" period. That was *my* version of the attraction with Andrew Duggan's firm voice of authority as the father instead of Jean Shepherd's doofus. The 1975-1993 period of WDW/EPCOT is the Golden Age that's gone forever and thank goodness it lived long enough into the age of camcorders.

I couldn’t agree more. I only wish there was some more original footage. Filmed by better quality cameras, perhaps by Disney.

Epcot has so much wonderful memories for so many families. I loved the France movie, the older Mexico movie, The Ellen show ride is still operating (but wasnt called the Ellen show) its the dinosaur ride!!! It was magical in the 1980s and early 1990s!!!! I miss the old music they used to play with the fireworks
