I just found your channel, very enjoyable content! I like the first person view without voiceover, makes me feel like I'm the passenger, so thanks for letting me live vicariously through your videos!
I just booked my flight to Egypt and will be flying the 747-400. Thank you for the great video! I now know what to expect. You did a great job filming and you were very informative! Thanks again!!
Thank you for your excellent review. I’ve flown the LH 747 several times, including 3 in first class, and always had amazing flights. I’m very fortunate. Compared to my Air Canada Toronto to London business class flight two weeks ago, this flight was a dream. If you want rude flight attendants, just give AC a try! My meals were overcooked and dry, and there was no departure drink offered. I’m really hoping this was a one off, as I have also had some great trips on AC in the past.
Wow sounds like an amazing experience you've had on the 747's! Its so unfortunate AC still does not offer ANY pre-departure drinks... I've had a good run of pleasant AC cabin crew on my recent flights so I'm keeping my fingers crossed it stays the same!
Yep I too experienced terrible service on ac business class from Toronto to Asia about 6 months ago. The food was almost equally as poor as the service, but not quite as bad. Since then I've decided to fly anything but air Canada :(
Really good video. I have been lucky to fly on every variant of the 747 (except for cargo) many times thru my life. 747-100, 200, 300, 400, SP, and the -8. It is a special aircraft and I miss how much they filled the skies and the airports.
Wow! How did you get to fly on the 100/200/300's? Fingers crossed that the industry will keep the whatever's left of the 747-8's for a couple more decades :(
Same here. I've flown on them all since I was 12yo in 1975 which was my first time on a B747, and my most recent was on Lufthansa 8. I have not flown on the SP. Airlines used were Air France, Lufthansa, KLM, Air Canada and British Airways. A mix of First, Business, and Economy over the decades. All were excellent for their era. The B747 is my favourite aircraft. I'll be really sad when Lufthansa retires them. They are the only Western airline flying them at present.
I flew the 747-400 in the opposite direction a couple years ago (FRA > YYZ) in J. I'm a huge fan of the upper deck but can appreciate sitting at the nose to take in the views too! Certainly not a bad way to get to the German capital!
What a wonderful video. Aside from the masterfully produced content (LOVE the background music btw!), I appreciated the fact that you have great taste in movies since you were watching THE GODFATHER during your flight. Thanks for this awesome video!
@@TraverseFlightReview I liked the 8i very much. I ended up with 3 flights because on the flight home we had to return to Frankfurt after only 15 minutes due to odour of smoke in the cockpit. They cancelled the flight and I flew out the next day on a different 8i.
@@TraverseFlightReview yes it was when i went to visit my sister in barcelona. i was upgraded to business class and it was amazing. then from heathrow to barcelona i went on iberia that was a disaster lol
Favorite aircraft? 747 actually! First overseas flight in 1993 was on a BA 747, upstairs! And more memorable was 747 from LA to Melbourne on UA 747 in 2000 with many extra rows of chunky 'business class' seats for the long haul to Oz, in what would normally have been the first several (many?) rows of economy. Very memorable!
During one of the last flights I took on a Wardair 747, I developed a migraine headache during the return flight and the flight attendant was kind enough to move me to the upper deck (which was empty) so I could have peace and quiet while I recovered. First and only time sitting there and it was amazing.
You are a traveler after my own heart. I recently flew DXB-FRA-MIA-MCO & then MCO-FRA-DXB on LH/AA simply to get a chance to fly on a 747 for the first time since 1986. I could have flown DXB-MCO non-stop on Emirates, but EK 's 777s aren't going anywhere, and LHs J fares were cheaper. My trips were in January & March, but amenity kits were nowhere to be found. I watched a review that stated the the row 1 seats were more cramped, so I just flew in the upper deck for all the legs. Overall, reasonably comfortable flight, but no way LH is a 5-star airline.
@@TraverseFlightReview I had a 3 hr layover in FRA, so I spent that in the lounge getting a shower, and having breakfast. I had an unplanned layover in MIA because of severe weather in the area that actually caused some flights to weather divert, including mine. This was was my first trip back home after these last few years of covid lockdown, so I took it all in stride.
@@get2dachoppa249 awesome 👍 i liked the little sleeper area at the LH FRA lounge, but next time I do want to try out the MapleLeafLounge. Apparently its the best one out of FRA 👍
The plane itself is about 23 years old, but the cabin is not. Those seats and IFE had been refurbished less than 10 years ago. When other airlines opted for 1-2-1 LH choosed that 2-2-2
I must agree about the headsets, but then again I wipe down everything when I arrive with alcohol swabs. That's all you need really. Yes, they should do that but we all know every airline put the all mighty dollar ahead of that. ;) Looking forward to my flight with them this summer...will report in...I'll be upstairs!
Thats very true.. im just so used to everything being packaged all nicely for me 😛 wow i was hoping to fly in the upper deck, but unfortunately it was all occupied 🥲
Very interesting video of Lufthansa's B747 service to Frankfurt, Germany. Back in the 1980s (when Wardair Canada were still around) I flew their B747 service from Toronto Pearson to Prestwick, Scotland (Glasgow had not opened up to International traffic at that time). Those flights were the most enjoyable ones I have ever taken even to this day. Nothing can beat the comfort of a wide-bodied aircraft on a long-haul flight across the Atlantic. My spouse and I are considering a trip to Croatia and Slovenia this year and would like to fly on a B747 one more time before they are retired from service. From my research, it appears that Lufthansa's service to Frankfurt, Germany as the first stop will be the only option at this time.
I’m curious how you’d rate LH J product compared to say AC’s business class? Since AC also offers quite a lot of frequent flights on this specific route. For the seat it actually looks fairly comfortable, except for no direct aisle access.
Lufthansa recently onboarded ex-Philippines Airlines A350's which feature direct aisle access business class seats, so in that sense I would actually prefer Lufthansa! Air Canada's seats are all nice but the footwell is kind of restrictive..
Just found your channel and this video was great. I must say that for Business class, that breakfast was appalling! I've flown Business class on Lufthansa many times and always enjoyed it, but have never been served a breakfast as paltry as that, with no protein. Looks like someone goofed on the menu. Was there a snack bar available between dinner and breakfast?
Exactly! I would much rather go back to economy for their breakfast. And unfortunately no breakfast was available in the cabin, not sure if it's due to the strong turbulence :(
WOW ! What Canada Air business class lounge in Toronto did you visit ? We found it dirty, people sleeping on the banquettes, a closed bar, and food stations that had not been refilled with old food dried on the containers. We went back out into the public waiting area. Unfortunately, their in flight service was equally poor.
Great video. I'll be flying this route on this plane at the end of April this year. Am travelling with my mom and dad who are elderly. We chose the 3 seat configuration. I"m not wild about it but it's that or I'm sitting beside someone I don't know. I thought about doing the upper deck but I'm worried if it will be hard for my parents to get up and down the stairs especially with a carry on. They can walk but my dad needs a cane and I don't know how many stairs up.
Technicological marvel 23 years ago? 23 years ago, that IFE screen didn't exist. They installed it around 2015. Even the previous Bussiness Class from 2004 seat didn't exist when that plane was built.
I'm flying to Houston from Frankfurt next month on one of these, and I'm no fan of them. Especially compared to the Airbus. Sucks having to cross the person next sleeping to the isle when you need to go to the loo. Would expect more from a business class service.
What? when was this? I flew in this on a few days before this video's upload date and my amenity kit was inside a nylon grocery bag, not in a leather pouch.
@@elation8101 interesting.. those reusable "around the world collection" i thought were provided for west coast flights but seems Im wrong... I flew mid-April this year if it helps!
I'm surprised that Lufthansa doesn't at least give the illusion of sanitized headphones. While I didn't consider the breakfast "appalling", an omelet would have been a better and easier item to serve. Who eats tomato and pumpkin seeds for breakfast?
