This is some great information. One constructive criticism that I have for your channel is that I feel like I'm being lectured to by a robotic operator. I say this, while I am considering my own UA-cam channel and some of the best that I've listen to have had the same outcome for me. Please take this as constructive criticism. It's easier to listen to somebody talking with you then running on and on with information. For me it's hard to listen to this although the information is great thank you.
Got my flock earlier this year in June started with 2 chicks our dog killed one and left us with a single chick we were so naive we thought he was gonna die of loneliness so we rushed to our nearest flea market and picked up 3 chickens 1 hen 1 rooster and silkie chicks, somehow that wasn’t enough and we went to pick up a Brahma hen the next week and the sold an Easter egger chick for $10. Suddenly we were up to 8 chickens. It didn’t stop there tho cause about a month later I saw some FBMC chicks for sales so I bought two out of impulse. Then our rooster died from a possum attack so we got another one. Point is we’ started at 2 ended with 8 crazy how chicken math works
Slloooooooooow down. I feel like you’re always trying to get the video over with, but I love the information I get. 🥴 I feel like I just asked bing AI for an answer to my question when I watch these
Food is a great motivation. My babies run to my hands even when I don't have food. I have one that will get up on my hand and not get down. They're about 7 weeks now. Im loving watching their feathers come in
Mine amrocks are 8 weeks in their coop second night. Their run is a compost area. They love to scratch through it. They also run to me whenever they see me. Some hens are easily handled.
@Krzysztof Rudnicki oh yes! I know chickens fairly well. I grew up with a 50 minimum fllock at all times. We also had a 30-strong colony of rabbits. We rarely ate beef or pork. Yet! This is my first time as an adult with chickens. I'm not looking forward to cull time. I have a friend who will help, and my only solace is how healthy my meat will be. (Hopefully, this sounds ridiculous, I have enough roos to bring my flick down to town regulation size... I really don't want to cull hens. I'm sorry if that upsets anyone.. I get this aspect isn't for everyone.
I have nine Easter eggers that are 17 weeks old and started laying last week. I prepared 3 nesting boxes with straw and golf balls, but they lay their eggs in the coop. They go in the nesting boxes but they scratch everything out and then go to the coop to lay. Any suggestions about how to break this habit.
