- In this lesson, respected New York City producer and musician Pablo "Chino" Nunez teaches the basic rhythms of the Cha-cha-cha, using a variety of percussion instruments including congas, bongos, timbales, maracas, and guiro. Taken from his full length DVD, The Rhythmic Construction of a Salsa Tune, Volume 1, Chino shows how to play the basic rhythms of the Cha-cha-cha, Son montuno, Guaracha and Latin rock. He also illustrates the relationships between the instruments and how they work together to construct the rhythm of Salsa music

This guy's a great teacher. He doesn't do anything fancy. Just nice simple, well played rhythms with a great groove - cool.

Pablito chino nuñez vino al peru acompañando en el bongo al gran HECTOR LAVOE en 1986 al concierto historico de la Feria del Hogar, en las congas estaba Milton Cardona y en el timbal Victor Perez

i don´t have any instrument on my hand now to check the key but for me it sounds like Gm (i don´t have absolute pitch, but very often i´m right ;-)) so this seems to be:

Maestro por favor ,eso no es asi,primero el Cha Cha Cha no lleva Maracas,segundo asi no es la marcha de la Conga,tercero el Cha Cha Cha no lleva campana,solo lo lleva el timbal como bien mecionas,pero darle informacion al mundo falso,lleva a los desastres musicales que hoy se llevan el la Musica ,especialmente en los ritmos Cubanos,por favor respetar esto es respetar la Identidad de los Pueblos.Muchas Gracias

I remember chino giving me rides back home after a game of softball. He use to slap his hands on the steering wheel and dashboard. later in life, I found out that he was a percussionist. I would love see him in person. he's one of the Best! Sunset Park in the house. BTW, nice vid Chino.
This guys trying to teach something to us...so if your gonna say "oh, .... is better than him ...", then your missing the point!!

@noquie1 los portorriqueños por perfeccionarlo????????????????? de que estas hablando. Los portorriqueños se han quedado en la musica cubana de hace mil años y si, muchas veces les suena muy bien, pero son los cubanos los que la han hecho evolucionar creando un millon de ritmos mas... lo digo sin animo de menospreciar lo que hacen los portorriqueños. Solo digo que estos son precisamente los conservadores no los desarrolladores.
I can see you play well, yet you fail to explain how the patern fits with the clave which is the most important thing hense the reason why most people play out of clave..just a constructive critisism...sige pa lante
PS your Guiro pattern is wrong for the cha cha and i think you know what im talking about...be carefull when teaching people
