- How to Add Music to a Slideshow on a Mac Using Apple Photos
This video is a followup to a video on how to make a slideshow on a mac that I made a few years ago.
I recommend you also watch the original video.

Thank you so much I just spent hours trying to figure this out!!
I couldn't get the music from my library to play until I saw this video. I was hearing the theme song instead of my library music. I had to delete the theme song and that allowed my song from my library to play from the beginning.
The music is showing but all the songs are greyed out
I had the same problem. The computer you are using has to be authorized by itunes. You can only have 5 devices authorized per one itunes account.
thx pal
Hi. I created a new photo show library on my Mac but I don't see it in my iPhone. Any ideas? Thanks ❤
Totally does NOT WORK!!! You need to learn more before posting inaccurate videos like this. All of my 8,454 songs are dimmed out. Only about 300 of those were purchased and downloaded through Apple iTunes - the rest were either copied from my CD's, DVD's, vinyl records, downloaded off the internet, etc. Every single song on my Mac is dimmed out.
I am most grateful for these comments, as I had just started my first ever slideshow using Photos. The accompanying music is very uninspiring, so I wanted to use my iTunes Library instead. The comment quoted from Apple, about copyright, surely must be misguided, if the slideshow is only for one's own use? Otherwise, you could not use iTunes at all!
that's great but folks should also know if they then try and share on Facebook or upload to their youtube channel the music will mostly likely be flagged if it's copyrighted.
Yes, of course. I share my own photos on FB but do also sometimes post a link to a certain piece of music online, just to make a point. I certainly never thought of sharing my iTunes Library.
this does not seem to work, I tested with purchased copyrighted material in my music library and it is still dimmed in the music tab in slide show, I downloaded a test song and It does work in iMovie, but NOT in slideshow, I called Apple and I got the "can't ever use copyrighted songs without permission" reply, but I know it's possible and can't figure out how in this tutorial it works and I cannot "undim" the songs that are in my songs list in the Music Library; I only want to use for personal use and not upload to any other streamer like Vimeo, UA-cam or Facebook
I can't on my MacBook Air but can on my iPhone. Weird!
Whoa, whoa - am I watching the same video as everyone else??? At about 3:30 in the video, you selected what you called; "an audioblocks blocks" music and then you pressed the "play" button............and I sure as heck didn't hear any "song" playing! I heard the same vocals that were in the original clip..........so where do you get off saying; "so there ya go"??? So that's how you add music to your slideshow........... WHAT MUSIC? I didn't hear any music.......and when I try this same procedure on my Mac, using Photos, it sure doesn't play the song (from my iTunes library - no, not music I got from Apple - music that I had downloaded from another source). When it was iPhotos, before Apple screwed everything up, it was a 10 minute thing to put together a slideshow with music I selected from my iTunes library. Like I say Apple insists on changing, changing, changing EVERYTHING and the result is always more convoluted and more screwed up than is was before they changed it (in what they call, "the old days").
This doesn’t work, all greyed out…you don’t reply to your comments??
Didn’t look like it worked for you.
Painful. Useless.
I'm. Sorry. Painful. Useless.
What exactly are you looking for? If I don't already have a video that answers that I will make one today.
Apple SUCKS!
Way to add to the conversation. Not that this applies to you but I've always found that insults are a sign of a weak mind and an elementary vocabulary.
