Brent Cobb is up there with Tyler Childers and Colter Wall as far as I'm concerned. So much talent in this new group of real country
I agree
Co sign
Nobody here would disagree unless they just don't get it.
Amen brother.
Sold on that
I like how real this music is. So many good artists not getting the play by the powers that be. It never ceases to amaze me the creepers that come around and thumbs down great music. They show a lack of intelligence.
Well my granddaddy was a good man
No matter what the papers say
He worked 'til he bled for everything he had
Brought us up to do the same
One afternoon in June
They had us workin' just like a couple mules
My cousin and me were twenty feet deep
And covered in red mud clay
Well we ran pipe from the creek bed
Through the woods to the old grey shack
It was worth the trouble to work them shovels
For granddaddy's sour mash stash
All the weeds and pecan trees hid a secret
We all swore to keep
Well my granddaddy knew what the law would do
If they ever come snoopin' 'round back
Lord I'm down in the gulley
Where the creek is high
Lord I'm down in the gulley
Where only the moon shines
Without money you can't buy nothin'
And nothin' is a damned ol' shame
When you're in the hole
You'd sell your soul for runnin' water instead of rain
Well the hills were filled with the smell of cash
Cookin' in the copper still
Everybody knew where they get their brew
And that made our family name
Lord I'm down in the gulley
Where the creek is high
Lord I'm down in the gulley
Where only the moon shines
Well years and laws passed by
They couldn't keep the county dry
One night, the sheriff went to lookin'
For the man who was cookin' that bootleg moonshine
Well he called the press
And he brought his best to tear our old shack down
But when they went for the stash my granddaddy laughed
For the shack was a pump house
Lord I'm down in the gulley
Where the creek is high
Lord I'm down in the gulley
Where only the moon shines
It was down in the gulley
Where the creek is high
Lord I'm down in the gulley
Where only the moon shines
This has entered Copperhead Road territory. Well done sir. Tip of the cap
well put.
Better in my opinion!
Amen brother.
Brings back good memories with me and poppa, 3 miles in the kudzu and 3 miles out, carrying corn on my shoulders but that sweet fire water was always worth it
just got thrown out of a saloon window from listening to this.
Man, I know this is an older song, but it’s just such a jam!
If you didn't thumbs up you might be a fed.

Sunsets on the lake, jack and coke and a few Brent Cobb songs. Closest you'll be to heaven this side of hell.
This is a badass song! It's up there with my top favorites now.
I could 100% hear this as a tv theme song or something. So exceptional
I was thinking the same thing.
How am I just now finding this dude?!?! He and that band are killer on the 1st 3 songs I came across in my algorithm on a Sunday🔥
Same my guy!
@@SwampyChiliRing about once or twice in a blue moon the UA-cam algorithm gods send a bad ass like this my way i.e. Hank 3, Jamey Johnson way back in 07, Sturgill Simpson ,Tyler Childers ,Cody Jinks, Billy Strings, ..... here recently Red Clay Strays, and now this dude and like those artist seems like every song a possible hit🔥
Sitting on my lanai in Honolulu Hi enjoying this fine music. Keep on trucking brother
I can’t believe I haven’t discovered you sooner... goosebump great! 👌🏿💗
i really feel youtube is hiding the good music.
What’s the meaning of pump house in this song? Did he get caught because his water source for his shine’ was found or was it just a random pump house for sewage etc?
He didn’t get caught, they thought they had him and it was just a pump house. That’s why grandpa laughed!

Reminds me of goin back to the barn on the ol plot with my pap and runnin the ol copper tower. When that worm got to drippin it’d be both bliss and pure fear. Nothin beats that feeling to this day.
this is the most genuine person in country music today..

My family is from salyersville ky.
Feel like those lollys , jubes they were called
A possible true story turned into song. There are 100s of old moonshine stories from 3+ generations. Moonshine stories range between funny to sad, from poor to rich and from new love all the way to death. If we could all put music to it like this guy we would have it made. I've never heard a moonshine song I didnt like.❤great job
Saw you last night in Southaven Ms, you are awesome!! Really enjoyed your music very much!! Wish you continued Success and would like to see you live again.
There’s a creek in the woods behind our house, and out there I found a shovel, then when setting some traps, another, then when chopping wood, another! I found a few suspicious holes out there, and the creek at one part had 7-10 feet bluffs, looking man made, odd huh. Reminds me of this song.
Dam this is a bad ass real country song good work brother
Real country
No, real country is about lifted trucks, John Deere green, and cut off Jeans.
This just some old outlaw tune. Not some yuppie genre.
@@xXBoo56Xx sarcasm, right?

I love this song. I live in the coal region of pennsylvania and the wiconisco creek runs through valley i live in. We all call it the black crick. I like to sit by it and smoke a joint once and a while to clear the mind. Nuttin wrong with that.
