So what did kaari do to make grace want to delete their relationship? Poetic justice is they are doomed to repeat the same toxic lesbian relationship over & over ever 4 years...lol
Wonderful... I' m not sure I understood all of it.... but everything worked beautifully. Acting is superb, wonderfully written, heart rending ending. Loved it. Ax
A more interesting ending would be if it revealed Kaari had somehow not done the procedure, so kept her memory of Grace intact, and that last 'accidental meet' would have alluded to being more nefarious.
"In a future where memories are stored like files, broken couples are offered the ability to wipe every trace of a relationship from their minds" This would have been amazing if this was indeed something that could happen today. Years ago, my History teacher who was also a Football coach brung up a scenario for the perfect Abortion procedure. That conversation included the lapse of event taking place. Almost 25 years later, I wonder if it works on broken hearts & minds.
While I thought the ending was clever, the idea that you would go to such drastic measures to erase memories from such a... pedestrian relationship was not believable. If I were to write this over again, I would make the relationship far more volatile and worthy of erasure. People who think this relationship is worth erasing haven't lived a full life yet. They're the ones who get dumped and say it's the worst thing that has ever happened to them in their lives. Live more life.
It's a short film. There's only so much you can convey in the time allotted. From the conversation, we know whatever happened occurred in the previous year. Whatever it was it was egregious enough to destroy the relationship to the point that one person wants to completely erase the memory of the relationship out of their life. Meanwhile, we have the partner who admits they did something wrong, but we never hear her take accountability for what happened. In the beginning, she looks like the victim because she's doing all the crying and wants to go back to the way things were or just forget about what she did and move past it. She never seriously acknowledged the pain her partner felt. However, we eventually learn who the real victim is and we find out she wants to remove all memories of their relationship to get rid of the pain.
@@mrblaque Wow. That's an incredible amount of narrative that never made it into the film. Without all of that implied backstory, the story we are actually told seems quite flippant. Trivial. If you are go through the effort of filming your story...
Nicely done. The ending didn’t come as a real surprise to me and the setup was therefore a bit long for me, but it didn’t stop it making you think about the nature of memories and how we feel about and are attracted to each other
Having someone self-insert something at "the base of the neck" is rather vague, & would likely lead to many deaths; & unrestricted falling from a standing position would likely lead to some serious injuries and deaths - they should probably be in a harness that goes beneath their arms from the ceiling, which allows them to safely "droop" without falling. But mostly what took me out of the story from the beginning: I don't understand why they both had to go through the procedure. Why can't just the upset party have their memories erased? At least a short explanation of that was necessary, because that's the central premise as I see, & it's a good one: they both have their memories of each other removed, then fall in love again, as though meant for each other.
I think its like when an older relative gets dimensia. You interact with them but they dont recognize you at all and it hurts, so its probably best when both parties forget each other.
Kaari wanted to keep the memories and, if she couldn't convince Grace to not go through with it, to process her grief. As she would be the one suffering from losing a parent's memory of her, in your analogy, it doesn't seem she would make a different choice in that situation. When Kaari tries to leave, Grace acts as though the procedure requires both of them, & the room is set for 2 patients, so it seemed to me to be a technical requirement. I don't understand the technical requirement that would need 2 people involved in a memory, but not all of the people involved in the memory, to erase the memory.

Nice concept, good actors and camera work. It lacks an interesting story: After you understand what is going on - 2-3 minutes in -, the movie doesn't add anything new, just plays it out. As the characters have no depth (on first glance it may seem a bit different, because the actors are really good), especially because their relationship is opaque for us, there is also no emotion beyond a vague sadness, because most of us have experienced a break up.

Interesting idea, but two things do not make sense: * They shouldn't be standing up during the procedure, because they could fall and hurt themselves (they fall ridiculously slowly at the end, which also proves the point it was stupid in the first place). * If they are broken and want to forget about each others, why are they standing facing each others during the procedure? The point is to forget, not force your ex into your face when you want to have nothing to do with them anymore. It serves the plot, yes, but it makes no sense.
