You mean, to repay what they “borrowed “?
The US government has borrowed from Social Security since 1983, when Congress passed amendments authorizing the taxation of Social Security benefits. This has happened when the government needed to pay for government spending.
      Explanation
In 1981, Congress passed legislation allowing borrowing between the three Social Security Trust Funds. This authority was extended to 1987, and all loans were to be repaid by 1989.
In 1982, the Old-Age and Survivors Trust Fund borrowed $17.5 billion from the Disability and Medicare Trust Funds. Repayment began in 1985 and was completed in 1986.
Since 1983, every US president has borrowed from Social Security to pay for government expenditures.

There are over 60% of SSA Recipients who deserve to live comfortably on a fixed income. We can not continue to enjoy our Lives until Congress is pressured by over 65 million citizens like myself, who deserve equal opportunities, a fair income, and most of all, the ability to own a home, buy a dependable vehicle, and have the Healthcare benefits we can count on. THIS ALL MATTERS TO AT LEAST 1 OUT OF EVERY 5 AMERICANS, MYSELF INCLUDED. Make SSA Great Again and this will allow equality and fairness to thrive.

It’s true, I also needed to talk to them & was told the wait was 120 minutes(2 hrs) , same thing the next day. Even emailed them but OF COURSE I didn’t get a response. The ones that “work there” are working from home & don’t even bother to answer the phone.

Congress needs to adjust the 2025 COLA for Social Security and V.A. Pensions to a much Higher Percentage than 2.5 Percent. Which is a Joke. The Rate of inflation in 2024 was much Higher thane 2.5 Percent. It was closer to 8 or 10 Percent Throughout 2024.

People only see what's happening now. These increases in Social Security mean more money going out while it's going down in reserves. You might get a bigger checks now, if you were a public worker with a pension or make enough retired to pay income tax. But in 6 to 8 years younger people will be paying for this extra money with a 20 to 30% cut in everyone's Social Security.
One of the biggest problems for so many, is that they only think a few days or months ahead and never see the coming long term consequences. For most it's money, but it's really no different from for the poor drug addicts who only think ahead to the next high and not to the lifetime consequences of those highs. So many only see the next money high and never see the long term consequences of their money problems. Sad, really.

I was under the assumption that the government workers got an extra amount in their government pension based on the fact that they lost their Social Security. And they will not feel the decrease when Social Security runs low on money. They were already compensated and took the job knowing that. Now they changed their minds and got away with it.
