Could you possibly do a video on how to get internships, like where’s the best place to look and which offer the best opportunities? I’m a political science student and I’m rlly struggling to find an internship to do in the summer
Eastern Europe is so cheap and there's so much to see, I'd definitely recommend traveling around there! I spent 3 weeks traveling from Macedonia to Croatia through Albania, Montenegro, and Bosnia and it only cost me a couple hundred euros! Also! Cooking at hostels is a huge money saver and it also helps you feel less gross from eating out every day lol
When I studied abroad in Italy, I was blown away by how inexpensive it is to travel throughout Europe! That is so far from the case in the U.S. unless you live in the Northeast. Jealous that you've gotten the chance to travel so much!!
Air BnB is such a good option when you're in a bigger group because it's usually cheaper and the places my friends and I have found in places like Vienna and Milan were absolute gems!
love this! I travel a lot during uni and am fed up of people asking how - it's so easy if you earn some money and can find a good deal. And things like Camp America are uch a good way to do it
hello I live in Australia and hearing that £25 flights exist makes me feel mad sad and bad. literally it's $100 AUD to travel to another place in our own country!!!!
This is such a helpful video!! I’ve done quite a few weekend trips and Ryanair and easyJet are my go-to websites, because they often have flights for £5-10! Might be going to Amsterdam in April so I can’t wait to use these tips😋
My friends and I went to dinner a few weeks ago, ended up on Skyscanner and booked flights to Milan for the start of April😂 it was so cheap and Milan looks absolutely stunning! You literally described everything that we did/are going to do 😂
Living in Europe makes it so much easier! I wish this worked here as well. I'm from South America and we're far from everything, even places in our own country 😂 thank you anyway Jack, it's helpful!
This is the perfect video for me because I head to Uni this year and I adore travelling, especially to random places! I love languages as well so travelling is vital to that lmao
This makes me sad Bahah I live in Australia and to travel to Europe it costs $1,000s AUD (One way) £25 is so good! Woah I can travel to another state in Australia for $100AUD+ lol 😭🤣
@@ah3750 The good thing about humanities degrees is that they open up career paths to a lot of things. A good degree shows a high level of critical thinking, independent study and organisation, and intellectual rigour; meaning after 3 years I could go into fields such as PR and marketing, media, finance, law, etc. It also leaves me open to do a master's degree in pretty much any subject, or pursue academia if that's what I wanted 🙂
Im off to America as part of my uni course for a year but I'm terrified of everything to do with the travelling aspect as I've never left the country anywhere but i can never afford to go on even cheap flights so how i do i get over this fear but also how do i actually afford to go on any cheap holiday?
I think every situation is slightly different but for me, I think Jack's idea about saving a little each week has proved best. Put aside part of your maintenance loan before you actually decide on a weekly budget (then you'll actually save a bit at the beginning of term)if you can, be efficient with food shopping and find somewhere like Aldi and lidl to shop if possible, and just focus on changing little things that won't ruin your enjoyment of University but will just add a little bit to your funds each week! If you still think it'll be too expensive maybe look at University funding for travel, at most universities I researched there were great options for travel grants or just general bursaries open for different activities like travel, again each uni is different but definitely have a look! You could try and go away somewhere beforehand with someone you trust and I'm sure it would make you more confident about it all - and do plenty online research! Anyways good luck 🙂
This is a really helpful video and I caught it in the right time. I'm just thinking about saving money for travelling. I want to explore and be with my family&friends. 🤗
something for saving money is withdrawing cash and then only using that money for a week or two. so youre limited to what you can buy and youre not constantly tapping your card, also remove apple pay!
Hi Jack, if you ever decide to come to Malaysia, do tell me and I'll give you a local's version of a tour of our capital city, free of charge! I really appreciate all the work you put into making these videos, so it'll be an honour to.
Does anyone know if there's a similar app to Sky Scanner for other kinds of transport (boats, trains etc)? I love travel but flying scares me and I'm wondering if there's a way to manage alternatives
Tris Sharp Trainline would be the similar version for trains. Megabus would be the version for buses (though think that might only be in the uk). Not sure about boats!
Please people, consider the need of your trips. It's really not helping our environment if we just selfishly hop on the cheapest flights ever for distances that can also be travelled by train or trips that can be avoided as a whole. Of course I do see the advantage of seeing the world, and connecting to different countries is important! But going to a city by plane, being only a tourist who doesn't connect to locals, stays only a weekend and leaves trash is kind of unnecessary. And yes I do know that there's such thing as carbon offsetting, but so little people actually do it and also it's not cleansing the atmosphere from greenhouse gases, they can't just be taken back. So pleeeease, the only way to protect our environment is to use your common sense and do the best you can in avoiding unnecessary pollution, think of it as a whole ♡
Although I agree, what you’re saying is unrealistic and unattainable in the real world. In an ideal world that would be perfect but sadly that’s just not the case.
@@sun7siren Unrealistic how? It's very realistic to stop flying or at least reduce it significantly. A ton of people (probably most people in the world) haven't flown once in their life
Everyone (unless you're rich enough to pay for living costs yourself which isn't many people) in the UK who goes to University gets a maintenance loan from the government to pay for their living costs. It's based on household income so if you have more money you get less (put theoretically your parents can therefore help support you) and if you have less money, you get more. It means everyone can afford to go to university. You use this to pay for rent, food, societies, but if you save on any of those then you can use the money for other things instead. I'm trying to save to go abroad this summer, so I put some aside at the beginning of term, shop at Aldi, don't drink, have a cheap room etc 🙂

Step 1: Live in Europe.
That's it.
orangesky it certainly helps LOL
Right!!!! I mean I can fly to Europe fairly cheap...if I fly out from NYC, which is like 10+ hours away from where I live. Lol
LITERALLY. I'm from South America and everything is far from here😂 even places in our own countries
orangesky Australians are crying.
Try New Zealand

Yeah just email lots of people
Maybe speak to your university career advisor, they will be able to help a lot more I would imagine.
there's a site called European Solidarity Corps I've heard that it is cool for internships but idk

My return flight to Milan is £8.50 next week. Cheaper than my commute to uni

Such a beautiful country couldn't be so perfect, only downside I can really think of.
i flew from melbourne to sydney for like $40 AUD
If you're lucky it's 20 £ for a return ticket.😍💪

Athens looked amazing! There’s so many places I want to go 😫
Staying in one place for a longer period of time rather than loads of mini breaks can make travelling more sustainable ✨
I don't think I've ever watched a video that makes so much sense and has the best advice from a 'studytuber'!
If anyone is wanting a retail seasonal kinda job the Primark is so good at all of that bc the majority of workers are students!
50 shades of cray sounds like a great autobiography title, js
oh my!! you posted at 5! so proud x

This was such an epically helpful video, thank you so much!

It’s a lot safer to travel on an airplane than a bus or train!!!
Rome2Rio is good to show the prices to get between 2 locations by train, bus, car, flight, ferry ect.
Thanks everyone!
I'll take a look at those suggestions :)
omg same! I hate flying and turbulence is the absolute worst!!!
forever wishing the US had the budget airline options Europe has
Such a good & useful video, thank you!!!!

Yes, it's horrible :(
Cheap offers only mean that 1) someone is probably paid badly
and 2) you're concentrating on the price and not on the impact that your trip has
