I grew up watching Toni Kukoc winning the 3peat with Jugoplastica. He was 19, 20 and 21 y.o at that time. He was also part (and the big attraction I would dare to say) of the great Yugoslavia national team. I have to say this. Maybe the new guy (Luca Doncic) is unbelievably amazing, but Toni was really something else. If he had arrived to the NBA in a similar age like Luka (and perhaps in a different team), NBA would have seen the real Toni. It's amazing how he established himself in that Bulls team, and played a major role in the 2nd 3-peat. I watched another earlier documentary mainly featuring Vlade and the Croatian Dragon. I think it was titled "Once Brothers". I am not sure what these Eastern European kids are made of, but man... the fires of war and the freezing tundra that forged them into the men they are is just overwhelming for an outsider looking into their homeworld. In the documentary, it showed the bonds formed (and cracked, and then reformed) throughout their playing careers. I have always wondered how it felt for someone being part of a brotherhood to have spent so much time together, playing together, and then have to play against each other... all while war rages on your part of the world, creating tensions between bonds once thought unbreakable... Toni Kukoc wasn't the main feature in that documentary, but he had first hand experience at how it all happened. To see him muster the strength and professionalism to keep going has always been quite a sight for me.
The part of the answer for the ex-Yugoslavian basketball powerhouse lies in the fact that Serbs, Slovenes, Croats, Bosnians and Montenegrins are some of the tallest people in the world. We are naturally tall and strong (I'm 6'4'' 240 lbs and two of my three brothers are bigger than me, and that's not even strange here in Croatia and Balkans in general; if you wanna see the extreme case, google Strahinja Jokić, Nikola Jokić's brother, it's hilarious how 7'1'' Nikola respects him as a 'big' brother). The other part is little harder to explain. People just excell in sports here. The people of the Balkans are naturally competitive and sports and competitive culture are nurtured since you learn how to walk. On may say that comes from our warriror background and natural fiestiness that came with centuries of fighting against the superior Turkish and German empires - and against each other, unfortunately, but I'm not sure even that gives the whole picture. Even after the breakup, each nation, now matter how small, has had a significant sport success in most other major individual and team sports, which is even weirder when you consider the relatively poor sports infrastructure and corruption in our countries. In some parallel universe, Yugoslavia today would have a national basketball team stacked with NBA stars - Dončić, Jokić, Dragić, Vučević, Bojan and Bogdan Bogdanović, Jusuf Nurkić, Miloš Teodosić - just to mention the most established ones, - and I seriously doubt anyone but USA team could touch them.

pure magic! a long overdue recognition!!!
Should be HOF.
Nah not NBA HOF
Noah Agboinfi There’s no such thing. The only Hall of Fame for basketball is the Naismith Hall of Fame which covers the NBA, college basketball, women’s basketball, Olympic basketball and international basketball
Noah Agboinfi nba HOF? Do you watch basketball. Naismith HOF is a basketball hall of fame not an nba hall of fame. Regardless yes he does deserve to be in the hall of fame.
@@xxxxxJAYMILLZxxxxxxx Yeah, maybe not NBA HOF. He did not even make the All Star or All NBA. But he definitely deserve some recognition for revolutionizing the big man
@@meow_meow_kuting are you dumb? NBA HoF doesn't exist the only HoF is the Naismith HoF
When i was a kid, having a jordan jersey is a dream, having a kukoc jersey and wearing them is just simply cool.
What a beast. No wonder the Bulls where number one for so long. So many great players on one team. Imho this is a Hall of fame caliber player without a doubt.
Pure poetry
Pink Panther u got to love it!!!
underrated. goated in play now online
Wonderful player.
I loved watching him play with the bulls back in the day so entertaining.
Man was a beast in his prime
Fingering Things ✔️, he was a beast on the bulls. So at the beginning of his career.
The Knick Fan, I like your channel. I just subbed. Nice job 👍!
@@theknickfan881 he was a beast like u say when he was 18 !!!
It's the first time watching Kukoc in action and I'm really impressed by his basketball IQ 🏀🏀
One of the most skillest tallest player I ever seen
We will never talk too much about Toni Ku'clutch
More than a Big three in Chicago there was a Big 4
Soooo underrated. He would be a perfect 4 or 5 for today's game. He wasn't just a stretch 4, he was a PLAYMAKING 4, like Lamar Odom less rebounding but better shooting.
CROATIAN PRIDE JUST LIKE DRAZEN ❤❤
Kukoc for the win! Finally. HOF. 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆
THAT RELEASE/JUMPER was just beautiful man🇭🇷🔥 the waiter baby
The amount of times he threw the alley oop pass for his teammates was just spectacular for a 7 FTer. His passing was impeccable
Ok NBA, there is no other way to write this:
MAKE TONI KUKOC HOF !
It is time. Do not that "last dance" fool you. You know better. Your video shows it. Everyone knows it. This man is HOF in hearts and he should be recognized by you too.
Great player Toni...respect 👍
The Waiter serving up to Will Perdue. Who knew that was such a lethal combination?
We used to use his name calling 3's back in the day as young kids.... one of my favorite players of the MJ era.... I see you Toni!!!
Kukoc wouldn't JUST be a stretch 4 today, he can play point forward!!
when we played basketball as kids I always played as Kukoc 🏀
This is the reason why Bulls won 6 rings because of too many super role players. (RODMAN, KUKOĆ, GRANT, HARPER?) amazing
Exactly
This is A reason, let's not act like Mj and Scottie weren't a reason to.
Movefasta Bro lol you actually just said?? The fuck, when do you EVER NOT hear Pip or MJ when the 90s bulls come to conversation. That team was deep af, people just giving them the credit they DESERVE
I met him a couple of years ago. Liked how laid back he was.
the best!!
What a catch by Steve Kerr on the first highlight.
Finally TONI KUKOČ the European GOAT 🐐

no ... Top 10 in Europe !
Watched him and loved him since Jugoplastika Pop84... one of my two favorite players ever. The other one is Dražen.
well its about time... one of the best
So underrated, so happy he got the hall!
Yeah, I'm ballin' , Toni Kukoč
I remember hearing his name in grade school in the 90s, but I wasn't into basketball.
Now that I am into basketball, and I've finally seen this highlight reel, I know why I'd heard his name.
Which also leaves me wondering why I didn't hear it more!
the REAL GOAT.
Toni Kukoc
