    I always respect your reviews, rather than just viewing them for entertainment. A quick question though, @ 9:19 timestamp you had the Max set to higher (11degrees presumably) and you did then comment that it sat a little closed. Was there a reason for this? Perhaps I missed something though. This is the model I'm interested in, so seeing real launch and spin @9degrees is interesting to me. Thanks very much for these detailed reviews without the hyperbole that is prevalent elsewhere.

      This was due to the heads being tested needing to match measured loft. The heads TaylorMade had for us to test with at that point were not all the same loft so we used the sleeve settings to get measured lofts the same

    interesting point you made at the end of the review, having the angles of the clubs similar, so could you do a video explaining (even as part of a fitting, even one of yourself) what club to pick, as if the angles can be replicated in wood/hybrid/iron, which one for what player, also for beginners it's quite confusing which to pick, esp. for a 'first bag' or if given second hand clubs, when you upgrade to 'second set', so a video on why the choice, and what is better, not just for "pro's", but higher shot golfers, so we can get the right clubs to keep us in the sport, not get frustrated that we don't improve.

    Great video Simon. As usual, honest, thorough and informative. Question: how do you compare qi10 v tsr2?

    • @Precision_Golf
      @Precision_Golf  7 місяців тому

      Qi10 is a little lower spin - base head weight is also a little heavier but I would say TSR2 is slightly more consistent for spin

    Does the max fairway wood sit square at address or did they close the face?

    • @Precision_Golf
      @Precision_Golf  Місяць тому +1

      The Max will certainly look closed to a lot of players. It is not hugely turned in but is a bit and if you are sensitive to this then you might find it off putting

    Great review Simon. If I'm recalling correctly, in Rick Shiels review he's swinging similar club/ball speed to you but his carry is measuring 20 yards further! I.e. 106-8mph club = 280-285 carry. Your numbers seem more aligned to what I'd expect speed vs distance wise so seems a big difference. Or is this just different Trackman vs Quad measurements/calculations?

    • @petekenny3774
      @petekenny3774 8 місяців тому +2

      Or the tricks of quad and trackman ...I'm very sceptical of them all as you can easily manipulate numbers

    • @Precision_Golf
      @Precision_Golf  8 місяців тому +4

      Quad does measure club speed at a different place relative to impact than Trackman and we have always found Quad’s distances a little generous with Trackman being very true to what I see on course so there are discrepancies between some of the data. Glad you enjoyed the review!

    Simon, do you guys use those adjustable fairway/hybrid heads in the studio throughout the year, or go to the real heads with your fitting adaptors? Presumably easier to match the fitted specs to built specs when using the real heads?

    • @Precision_Golf
      @Precision_Golf  8 місяців тому +2

      Hi Blair. All our heads are the real adjustable models. We use an interchangeable hosel/shaft system that adds no extra weight to the heads to allow for testing at an appropriate swingweight.

    Which one would be better for an OTT slicer? QI10max or g430 10k max?

    • @Precision_Golf
      @Precision_Golf  6 місяців тому +1

      Both maxes have the potential to open the face more but as things stand G430 10k Max is a little lower spin for our in-bay fitting testing so a slightly stronger flight

    I don’t think TM has made a decent driver since the original SIM, ironically that’s when KPS purchased TM from Adidas, they kept it for 4 years and sold it on to a Korean investment firm Centroid for $1.7BN a massive profit. Common denominator between KPS and Centroid is they are profit incentivised and short term profit at that. So the annual release policy suits the short termism and asset stripping works by reducing quality R&D. Net result, you get the truly dreadful Stealth, Qi10 yet to be assessed, albeit that the LS version is Stealth in wolfs clothing. TM are now so bad that their playing staff struggle to use the equipment, if Rory can’t use the equipment with any consistency, what chance do we have

    • @Precision_Golf
      @Precision_Golf  8 місяців тому +1

      This is certainly the best one since then but first gen Stealth did perform well for us in the fitting bay. With the annual product launches it does potentially make it harder to keep finding new things to develop and a 2 year cycle certainly works for Ping and Titleist

      Very interesting ! The proof is certainly in the pudding. I’m still shocked at how the cost has almost doubled over the last 5 years. Also, seeing all their new fancy toys and the way they cater to tour pros and their staff players makes me question why I would ever pay $700 for a driver.

      @@CamMacMastermusic the materials in the head are dearer (more composite and lightweight titanium) but it has got very dear for sure

    Hi, I’m a moderate swing player looking at the standard and Max drivers but who doesn’t have the distance to lose. Did you notice a significant drop in distance between the two and is there a value to setting a 9 degree standard driver at a higher loft in order to have the face a little more closed without losing distance?
    Thanks in advance!

    • @Precision_Golf
      @Precision_Golf  8 місяців тому +1

      It is really about which head optimises the launch and spin and sometimes the higher spin head can give greater carry distance consistency and therefore more steady yardage rathe than the odd bomber that happens to run out further. Adding loft to a head to close it is a good option as generally that lowers CG and keeps spin down versus setting up the higher lofted head in its standard loft setting

    So TaylorMade say the new face secures better to the head, an acknowledgment of a design fault in the Stealth? Seems like in light of all the faces falling off the Stealth. MOI at 10,000 in the max, Stealth max was 8500, and that’s the MOI of the LS version in the Qi10. All of this renders the Stealth well and truly redundant, resale value? Suspect it will drop like a stone and all the residual stock in retailers, good luck with that. The obsession with annual release rather than bi annual, means redesign for redesigns sake, this might be the first real improvement since the SIM. Lots of Stealth owners feeling conned…..

    • @Precision_Golf
      @Precision_Golf  8 місяців тому +2

      The dads tech really makes sense but the issue has been the bond to the frame, however I agree with you about forcing out annual launches when holding back for one year could have better long term effects (this suits Titleist and Ping)
