George is the one that turned me on to Wes And Nat King Cole. I had the pleasure of talking to him years ago when his record "The Other Side of Abbey Road" was out. My brother ran a theater in Cincinnati that showed "art movies",and on the weekends he had Jazz musicians come in. I was a kid at the time, and told George I loved the way he played and sang, and he told me I should listen to Wes Montgomery play and Nat King Cole sing. Prior to that,I had never heard a musician praise others instead of himself. George is forever my hero.
Has not changed since the 60s Still movin and grovin 😅 part of the chittlin circuit. Wells chicken and waffle where all the great musicians and stars were at. Those were the days.
Is it time for a musimentary of George Benson. Can we get a biopic of Uncle George, The legend that is George Benson? His story deserves to be retold if he would agree. Maybe something different from the way others have been told. I'm sure as a Jazz man something creative in the retelling would be apt.
Can't believe this man is 80 yrs old
he was all remaked!!!!

I could listen to him tell these stories for days without taking a break

George is the type of musician EVERYONE should aspire to be-GREAT AND HUMBLE.
When I heard Breezin' - in particular the song Affirmation, wow! I mean what a solo, so melodic and so amazing chops - absolutely beautiful and great!

What Wes album is Benson referring to (with the track "Round Midnight")?
The Wes Montgomery Trio I think.
The version on the Trio record was recorded in 1959. What Benson was referring to was the one on the second record he did with Jimmy Smith
@@nevertoofast2 ah thanks for the info, I will check it out.
What is the name of the second record he did with Jimmy Smith? Thx.@@nevertoofast2
