The very last time I crashed my mountain bike was very similar to that. It was in 2005 and I broke my neck. I'm glad she's alright but maybe she should be wearing a full face helmet with a protective neck brace until she gets more confident. A little extra safety is worth it if it keeps you out of a wheelchair for the rest of your life.
100%. for jumps like this you gotta be so careful. she's only 130lbs so her neck only had to take that weight... but if you're 190 or 220 lbs the neck injury risk is huge.
That landing made me wonder if she ever did martial arts because that was an epic save. Having Toms crash in recent memory I was pretty hesitant to even watch this.
You could just see the "Seriously questioning the relationship" look on her face when she got up! Hats off for having the guts to just send it like that lol.. I have to be honest though, for me Sam stole the limelight by being the most chill guy in the world just casually walks over filming! Great work guy's love your work Sam thankyou for all your hard work.. your positive energy is on a level of its own!!
There are no deep thoughts at that time, just an adrenaline rush and the surreal sensation when you can't yet feel if you've broken something or not. Once the adrenaline wears off, you will start to feel the pain. Then you will slowly start processing what even happened for the next days.
Sam I usually say Today is gonna be EPIC! But Georgie was EPIC today! She went for it and I couldn't believe it she was awesome! Love the channel and content! I'm here for the algorithm! Peace
sick video as always! i would like to know how this could happen?! i jumped similar and landed almost the same. i didnt know what ive done wrong. maybe a video about "things to avoid" would be great. Keep it up
I almost went over the bars yesterday at Santos, FL USA. I was at the Vortex on the small jumps, when I was leaving, I pedaled down (not fast enough) and climbed a wooden "bridge" feature that's at the base... I had not been on my MTB 5 years and 50 pounds ago. Now, there are two options to get off it, one to the left one to the right. As it turns out, I took left, without enough speed but fast enough to not be able to brake and stop in time before the ledge on the left. I pulled the bars H A R D back and landed on my front wheel, BARELY enough to roll and not crash. Committing is a big part of any jump. One thing, she was not pressured, she was encouraged. Of all things, Sam told her to do a run-up and offered professional advice.
Brilliant video as always, glad everyone's ok after the crashes. Did you know they've used your footage when you were on the big red bike? Channel is low vibe, video is called The Beast Full Movie, you're near the beginning, I think around 10 mins in

Hello Sam. You've replied to one or two of my positive comments in the past. That's not to convey I expect a reply to this one; it's merely to add context to what I'm writing. I want to sincerely-and-genuinely thank you, your family, your entire circle and everyone around you; for being such a positive force of inspiration. I am autistic and disabled. Still, I adore sports that intertwine with nature; which is my first love. I usually have a really difficult time conveying my intent through words. I've grown a lot recently, in the last few weeks. I chalk part of that up to your positive energy here. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I'll never be able to write it enough or convey it properly. You helped me so much, inadvertent-Bodhisattva.

Ok serious question here - firstly glad they were Ok. Anyway is there a foolproof technique to eliminate those OTBs where the back gets kicked up? Cos I basically fear this happening to me every time I jump. Thanks.
Some will say slow the rebound on the rear shock but to me that doesn't fix the underlying problem which is the technique. don't let you weight shift back, stay centered on the bike and push the fork into the lip then pull the bars closer to your chest as you take off. It's not like a bunnyhop where you have to lean back to get the front end up, the jump will lift the front end with no effort, so the bars will naturally come up to your chest if you allow them to. if you try to do it like a bunnyhop the rear suspension will compress too much and throw you forward. when you pull the bars up to your chest it will bring your weight forward and get you more over the front wheel. You can see in the video she extends her arms as soon as she went off the lip, if she had pulled them closer to her it would have been much more controlled
5:03 "is my bike alright?", spoken like a true mountain biker.
So glad she’s okay that’s one of the gnarliest OTB I’ve seen for a while and fair play to Austin he still had the balls to go after her
