I actually think the ladies in the background give a real feel to how a good pottery studio should be. Some happy people working with clay and having a blast. That’s why I love my college ceramic classes so much. We all just sit back, throw some stuff, joke around, and make some kick ass stuff. It wouldn’t be the same in complete silence, at least not for me. Free talking let’s the good ideas flow through the room like a windy day. Hahaha
Se llama “Chattering Tool”. Yo lo hace de bandas de acero. La herramienta hay se vende, pero in unas semanas voy a hacer un video por haciendo un herramienta chattering. Tambien, yo quiero a ir a Costa Rica un dia.
I agree with your observation Gourav Singh. Mr. Lee, I don't think his comment was negative. Just an observation and a complement to you on your beautiful work........................
Most folks are doing a light chattering with a wide flat blade. If you use a narrower gouge type tool with good pressure, you can get fairly deep chattering. Thanks for the feedback!
The tool used, the hardness of the clay, the speed of the wheel, the prssure of the tool. ua-cam.com/video/4sLCvzV6CPo/v-deo.html You can see several textures. Some turn out better than others.
Very interesting technique, I’ve often wondered how this was created. Thanks you for sharing ! For the individuals put off by the conversation in background, lighten up. Be respectful and show some tact, when voicing your opinion.
I wish you would’ve narrated this video and explained what you were doing. The chatter in the background was rude and annoying. I hope you make more videos as you’re a terrific potter and have some good techniques to share.
I'm not sure you could really consider that rude. He clearly works in a shared space and obviously didn't mind having his colleagues around. Studios are very often social spaces.
The people chatter is awful on this video. Muting of this video is very important in order to concentrate on the technique of the potter. The completed vessel is wonderful and quite beautiful.
Krisztina E. Dihen it says in the description it’s tools made from a steel pallet. If that helps. Would be great if he did a Demi on making these tools and others being used for us beginners. 👍🏼 Really cool bowl tho Love it❤️❤️❤️
Didn't know half a million people would be watching. Sorry it was spoiled. I will be making some new videos showing the tool making and then a how-to on the chattering.
this is a low quality, high tooth recycled stoneware clay. This would be much better with a smooth body clay like B mix or porcelain. I hope to do that next.
This probably isn't his home studio... "Excuse me, I am about to chatter a bowl, can all the women please shut up?!" He doesn't seem rude enough for that.

I go to a studio and that is the way we are there. We teach each other and encourage each other.
Chattering the pot, and I love the ladies chattering too.
My students loved this one, too!
So do I need chattering ladies to chatter my pots? :P
Absolutely beautiful!! I'm going g to try chattering tonight foe the first time, trying to absorb as much YT knowledge as possible in preparation!
I love the pattern you got into the bowl it's very cool.
Hi plzz call 8126906555
That is an EXCELLENT tool. Congratulations!
My next video will be making showing how to make the tools.
Amazing craft and talent
Thank you. You have a lovely channel.
I've watched your video several times. I just can't make out the tool. What shape is the tool you chattered with?
nice vid!
Good art☺☺💜
Very good technique ;)
Very nice. If you press on the center of the bowl after centering. It will push a little air out and create a better seal
😣Bad😣
Excelent! Thanks for teaching this technique!

It is a chattering tool.
Thank you so much!💛🙏
That was great!
If not for the ladies in the background .. it would be the most satisfying video on the internet .. great work though ! 😀
this is what its like being in a pottery studio. people talk, its not a big deal.
Thanks for interjecting a little perspective. Most of the negative comments are from people who have never posted anything.
I agree with your observation Gourav Singh. Mr. Lee, I don't think his comment was negative. Just an observation and a complement to you on your beautiful work........................
Would have liked to get a better look at the tool
Good art

Woooow 😇😲
Grate creation and a grate video sir....
_ * thank you for sharing this video, it's nice to thank you. * _
I would have preferred to hear you explain what you were doing and how to get the technique. The background voices were distracting.
Life's a beach.
I'm going to make a short series of videos that include making the tools and some guidance in the technique.
Jeff Lee, that would be awesome. Thanks!
Where can you buy the tools you are using for the foot and for the texture?
I make my own tools using steel pallet strapping, tin snips, and a bench grinder.
My next video up shortly will show how I make all my trimming and chattering tools out of steel pallet strapping.

Great work but most people watching are here to learn. You could perhaps speak, explain hand movement and tools.

Chatting a bowl....

Hi Jeff
Is your bowl leather hard, or just in between soft and hard leather. I have been trying to charter for this last couple of bowls I have made.
Medium leather hard will give the deeper cuts. Hard leather hard will be shallower.

Nice video, other than the hyenas in the background.
Great vid, nice work, although the voices spoil it.
Didn't know half a million people would be watching. Sorry it was spoiled. I will be making some new videos showing the tool making and then a how-to on the chattering.
The bowl chattering or women chattering?😲
Both!
Maybe the hyenas could take a break?
Good
What kind of clay do you use please ?
this is a low quality, high tooth recycled stoneware clay. This would be much better with a smooth body clay like B mix or porcelain. I hope to do that next.
This is just crappy, rough recycle. The technique works on anything.
Not nice the background noise!
Damn... couldn’t concentrate lol
