    Pulling that tree out of road is awesome! Never think about that you can use the winches for that. And with that winch, Land Cruiser is unbeatable in every condition, you can even make your own way 😎
    Great video as usual 👍🏻

      Yep winches are very useful tools.....can safely say I’ll always have one on my vehicle.

    Just a reminder to always wear gloves when handling the winch rope, and go hand over hand when feeding the rope back into the winch, never let it slide through your hands, if there was a stick or small piece of wood stuck in the rope you might slice your hand. Great video, thank you for sharing with us all...

    Just a couple of things I noticed in your demonstration, first the recovery vehicle was still shuttering at the end which would suggest you were still in trouble and moving that tree, I would suggest you don't stand anywhere inside the ropes or cable because if that pully wheel does give way for any reason you'll be in the line of fire. Much better to be standing on the outside of the ropes/cables to avoid being stuck by a flying object.

    Just a quick note to say that when using the ARB recovery points you are meant to put the shackle through the loop ( not the pin ). See the instructions that came from ARB for details. i am not sure if it makes a big difference however always best to follow the manufacturers instructions. Thanks for the video.

      Thanks mate - yeah I read that, but because of the shape of the TJM bar, you can’t actually get the loop of the shackle through the point, only the pin.

    What’s your opinion on the sound that comes out of these winches mate ?
    I’ve had one for about 2 years and it’s has to be one of the loudest winches I’ve ever used, sounds like the gears are destroying them selves inside.

    • @great_offroad_adventures
      @great_offroad_adventures  4 роки тому

      No louder than my mates warn or my previous 2x Ironman winches.....hasn’t given me any cause for concern.

    Good one chief! Just wondering how the carbon winch is holding up, any issues, do you think it will go the distance ?

    • @great_offroad_adventures

      Yeah mate - pains me to admit it, but I’m having to use it more and more often 🤦🏻‍♂️....definitely worth its weight in gold.....no issues & IMO will go the distance & back again.

    Shiiiiit. Not a good idea to stand where this guy was standing when he used the snatchblock to move the tree. Had the shackle failed, it would have headed straight at him. Death triangle.

    What you do when you no have tree? In china most tree chopped down. No able to attach winch to tree. Maybe better to get donkey team from farmer to pull out.

      Dig and dig and dig.....nah in all seriousness if you need, you can bury the spare tyre of your vehicle and use that as an anchor.

    • @guanghunglo3594
      @guanghunglo3594 5 років тому

      OneHung no have spare tyre, only wooden wheel! Think much better to get donkey team pull out or get uncle HoLee to pull out! He have 48 dodge truck. Get from american soldier in south korea. He trade girl for truck. He get good deal! We take truck to village but sometimes truck no go or HoLee no afford put fuel in tank. No matter we just hook up to Donkey team take truck to village go get drunk visit girl at brothel have good time you know what like. Hey why you no come over? We show you good time. You bring VHS camera we make video for you tube viewer!

    Mate that's not a double line pull all you have done is change the direction of the rope, a double line pull requires 2 parts of rope supporting the load not included in the line out of the winch. So what you need is rope to tree with snatch block, back to car to another search block then back to tree.

    • @great_offroad_adventures
      @great_offroad_adventures  3 роки тому

      Nope - that becomes a triple line pull

      @@mylesstanton5938 Are you thinking of a stationary pulley? I believe this setup classifies it as a moveable pulley as the load moves as the rope is pulled. If you pull the winch rope in by 1 meter, the vehicle will only move 0.5 meters. Thus a 1:2 advantage.

  • @jimbrown4372
    @jimbrown4372 5 років тому

    Please explain technically how your winch runs at half speed when using a single fixed pulley system in your so called double rope pull, that has no mechanical advantage

    Bit of a muppet, no gloves, but we all know dyneema drops with basically no recoil, that’s just mentally carried over from using cable,, and don’t forget to put your seatbelt on 😝😝🙈
