2 things. Kinda weird to see Dev playing an SG And seeing him tackle the guitar solo without him referring to it as the "cheesiest solo... ever written" and no daft face pulling lol. A great version , though.
Oh man, this song is just pure awesomeness. I heard Dev's about a year ago. At first I didn't really like it, it was some sort of clip of a gig, and I was drunk. Well, later on I listened more, and damn, I've been hooked ever since. This is a man you can't describe by words. You must experience him :)
Indeed it is a Gibson SG, you can make out the name on the headstock as he turns away from the mic at the beginning. Unless I am sorely, sorely mistaken.
devin townsend is just aswome he can sing and play very cool guitar he is just aswome i dont care if he is on a studio of live he is just aswome and his songs are wickid cool devin rules always devin is the best of all
A shame that he cut out half of the solo (the fast part) and they only seemed to play the rhythm guitar throughout the song. None-the-less still one of my most beloved Devy songs. He has such a unique and beautiful sound, I hope he never stops making music in my lifetime.
one of the greatest songs ever on one of the best DVD's to ever come with an album,Safehouse is a perfect example of how to include a DVD with a brilliant album
Was Devin pretty big back then? Or is it just a really baggy shirt? Hes always seemed pretty thin, minus a beer gut that Ive seen in some live Strapping clips.. Kickass performance btw.
It's just the shirt that' super big. You can find live clips from pretty much every period of his career where he takes his shirt or pants off, and he's never been big.
@LeTinctoire why have i not noticed that before ive watched this video countless times i even have the bonus dvd from synchestra somewhere if i knew where it was i wouldnt be watching it on here lol
he just said on his official myspace page that he release a series of 4 album that are going to be release this summer, the first ablums according to him that are not influence by pot and other "things" should be interesting, i hope they will be just as creative as his other albums. Oh i believe he has new band members, i think
Good tune...you would think FM radio stations would have played this to death. Guess they couldn't fit it in with all the Nickleback and Godsmack they forced down our throats.
couldn't agree with you more, everything about that album is just pure amazing, from Seventh Wave to The Death of Music and Things Beyond Things.......damn i'm gonna go listen to it right now!!!it should be in every music fans collection along with everything else Devin puts out
Lol. I looked up this vid because I like Strapping Young Lad, and I recently found out Devin also had this project going. I was under the impression that he quit SYL to focus solely on this band, but it sounds like he's had this going for some time I guess, and also may not be done with SYL, so it's all good.
@jettablak Machine Head, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Overkill, and Testament are major out-standing bands that I can think of at the moment that could challenge third place.
No, it's fine. I didn't know anything about his solo stuff, and I thought he quit SYL for this. I was a little upset for a moment. I didn't know he's been working on this stuff for quite a while.
@jettablak I honestly don't get it. Why do fans of Hevy Devy have it out for Godsmack? I only learned about DTP and Devin in July of 2011, by going to a CoB concert. I have loved Godsmack for about seven or eight years, since the genre of metal was really introduced to me, but Devin is officially my favorite band, pushing Megadeth to second and Slayer/Godsmack/Iron Maiden/System of a Down/ etc. to third. Seriously, though, why do all Devy fans hate Sully?
wow, it is such a weird song, the melody and overall theme sounds happy, but the sound of instruments is definitely metal oriented, with really high gain on guitars. it sounds cool but i needed to get used to it.
I love this song, but there are some big flaws in this video. He leaves out the very best part, "I'LL SEE YOU ON THE OTHER SIDE!" and he doesn't sing with that much power. Makes me sad.
Amazing. You can see the pain he was in back then. He's completely changed and revived, and gets better by the day.
Drugs and alcohol.
I don’t see it
2 things.
Kinda weird to see Dev playing an SG
And seeing him tackle the guitar solo without him referring to it as the "cheesiest solo... ever written" and no daft face pulling lol. A great version , though.
Looks like Devin is wearing one of Gene Hoglan's t-shirts.
Just met Devin at NAMM and he’s the seeetest person you will EVER meet. Real as can be.
every band should record like this.
By far my fav song by Dev out of everything he's ever done. And I've heard everything.
Are you sure?
I swear, with every song I listen to, I have no idea what to expect! Devin Townsend is amazing!
everything this man does is solid gold. amazing, this is one of my all time favourite songs...:)
Oh man, this song is just pure awesomeness. I heard Dev's about a year ago. At first I didn't really like it, it was some sort of clip of a gig, and I was drunk. Hairy Devin! What a finding!
A shame that he cut out half of the solo (the fast part) and they only seemed to play the rhythm guitar throughout the song. None-the-less still one of my most beloved Devy songs. He has such a unique and beautiful sound, I hope he never stops making music in my lifetime.
0:32 cracks me up every time
in an interview, devin said he wants to go back on tour and start again. he finished his next solo album Ki. Cant wait for it

The Bass Kick sounds WICKED.
he just said on his official myspace page that he release a series of 4 album that are going to be release this summer, the first ablums according to him that are not influence by pot and other "things" should be interesting, i hope they will be just as creative as his other albums. Oh i believe he has new band members, i think
thats the point i was making :P
fucking love this song!!!
"LIFE!!"
just came to think of that he uses ESP quite a lot in SYL, but I don't know about here...
Great fuckin song!
I walked into that one carrying a "kick me" sign...
Good tune...you would think FM radio stations would have played this to death. Guess they couldn't fit it in with all the Nickleback and Godsmack they forced down our throats.
d'accordissimo!
couldn't agree with you more, everything about that album is just pure amazing, from Seventh Wave to The Death of Music and Things Beyond Things.......damn i'm gonna go listen to it right now!!!it should be in every music fans collection along with everything else Devin puts out
sorry cant believe no1s noticed the GIANT T-SHIRT he's wearing haha, awesome song :D
Lol. I looked up this vid because I like Strapping Young Lad, and I recently found out Devin also had this project going. haha no shiting huh? sheesh whats wrong with them !! yeah this song kicks ass and i love the devin townsend band haha
@ICommunistToasterI I agree
No, it's fine. I didn't know anything about his solo stuff, and I thought he quit SYL for this. I was a little upset for a moment. I didn't know he's been working on this stuff for quite a while.
as well as Mike Patton! but LONG LIVE DEV!
I really like the 0:01 to 4:26 part
SafeZONE. Not SafeHOUSE. But yes, you're right. Life is a brilliant song.
@CyanideSovereign LOL you have just invented a new subgenre! and only one band will be in there....amazing
Damn, he did do the "See you on the otherside" parts, or that fast lick at the end of the solo. Great song though.
i like black and devy metal and wtf with it? devy is unique nobody can reach this guy's level
See you on the Other Side!
Great song. Would like to have heard the guitars more in the mix, but hey.
Ohh the drummer...
"And you know it well-uhhh"
devin looks high in this video
@666Marduk999
haha good one, im done arguing theres no way to get an online troll to change his mind.
@stonersid agreed
Oopsie, I mean "Damn" =)
Where can i buy the new album when it releases? Only the hevydevy site?
This is not Metal.
It is Devy Metal.
I'll see you on the other side
@jettablak I honestly don't get it. Why do fans of Hevy Devy have it out for Godsmack? I only learned about DTP and Devin in July of 2011, by going to a CoB concert. @TheHappyFaceBoxMan hahaha !
wow, it is such a weird song, the melody and overall theme sounds happy, but the sound of instruments is definitely metal oriented, with really high gain on guitars. it sounds cool but i needed to get used to it.
It seems to me you don't know what you're talking about....What's your new album like?
Yeah, but u said Devin should go back to SYL, and he's still playing with them.. he has never left syl.

I love this song, but there are some big flaws in this video. He leaves out the very best part, "I'LL SEE YOU ON THE OTHER SIDE!" and he doesn't sing with that much power. Makes me sad.
