I am so happy for her to be on television for this, how cool, however, UGH. Now every pet parent is going to think we can just gently brush out a matt with a little conditioner. I can already hear it. " I saw a groomer who grooms Katie Perry's dog and she said all you need is this conditioner and a slicker brush. NOOOO this is going to be a nightmare.

Yep. I'm also shocked/disappointed that she mentions the dematting tool. I think these can be lethal in the wrong hands and can just imagine someone's dog losing an ear when they decide to try and cut out a massive ear matt at home with it 😢

Did they bring their personal matted dog to set for J.Rona to demonstrate how to comb out a matt?! Also none of these people should be try on go to groom their own dog. Just hire a professional. Yes as Jess said to them, “don’t do it.” 🤦🏼‍♀️

There's certain things a pet parent can do at home, specifically brushing out their dogs using proper techniques that would be the most efficient. However, using scissors, clippers and de-matting tools can be dangerous, as these tools are very sharp and in the hands of a non-professional, can be dangerous for the dog. Professional groomers groom multiple dogs a day/week and have several years of experience. Just as you would probably not attempt your own plumbing, electrical or any other trade you're not proficient in, grooming of a live animal should also be left to the professionals. But to be clear, brushing your dogs between your grooming appointments, would assist your groomer and make their task at making sure your babies stay safe and come home beautiful!

It’s good to brush your dog but, there is a reason dog groomers exist. It’s not easy. Just go to your groomer.
