City of Death is one of my favourite Doctor Who serials
I would love to have more HGTTG references in doctor who, they are cannon to each other i.e the doctor mentioning Arthur Dent in the Christmas invasion, and the alpha centuri creature( or however you spell it, I just don't have the time or care to do so ).
I remember Tom Baker’s doctor reading a book by Oolon Kalifid (no idea how to spell) in a Dalek vs Movellan story. Also City of death and Shada are very related to Dirk Gently. I get the feeling Douglas was experimenting with an unlikable hero. Clever writing.

great little video ... i would love to hear more about adam's influence on classic dr who, i know he only wrote a few but even now you see small nods to his style.
Stephen Moffat once said that The Snowmen was based on a script Adams wrote called "The Doctor Retires" so it's great to see his influence to last that long.

I like the fact that the old computer game "Elite" featured a reference to Hitchhiker's with the rating : "Mostly Harmless".

I doubt it would ever occur, but I would love to see Salyavin (One of the characters from the Shada script/novel) appear in a newer season.

Edward Hippisley-Cox I know but it was broadcast a year ago so its not like they are advertising it. They are showing a clip from it and then giving no way to watch the rest of it. What's the point?
Hi *****, we have the option of showing videos from this Culture Show to fans who may have missed it or don't live in the UK, where this show transmitted on BBC2 and we thought they might be interested.
Doctor Who that's true but it also makes people want to watch the rest of the episode. But they can't as it was never released on home media.
