I have recordings of Dahl's voices (can't upload to youtube due to copyright), and there are definitely similarities to "my" narrator. Stories performed by Roald Dahl are available on Audible. But I fear that some "experts" will mistake his reading for robotic.
A writer is honoured when his books are read in different languages, dialects and accents. If you don't like the pronunciation, don't listen. Why torture yourself? ;-)
I too listen to audiobooks, avidly! In every comments box, its clear to me, that the majority of most listeners is clear, AI is despised and a huge turn off. I don’t know why providers of such an invaluable service then, continue to believe that these discerning people who they would like to suscribe to their channels, persist in using the bad replacement for the human voice? Are they of the believe that they will slowly become converts? That won't happen, i believe.
Seriously? You must not understand how this stuff works. You can't post what you don't have. He's not reading/creating these himself, just uploading a version he has found, providing a FREE service for those who care to listen. If you don't like it, that's fine. Go pay for a better version. I don't like AI generated audio readings either but why complain about something someone's going out of their way to provide for free? No one's forcing you to listen. If I don't like a certain narrator I go search for another. Just saying.
The comment was not meant as an insult, sorry if people thought this was so. It's a general complaint highlighting and amplifying what I perceive the majority of listners feel about AI across many audiobook renderings of authors works. There's bad narration and there's AI.
@@rAndomlight1069 That may be true, but this is not AI. Only the first story sounds robotic, which is extremely unfortunate and where all the negative comments are stemming from.
@aimslygirl It is AI. His other uploads aren't. Its so obviously Robotic and AI. Two ways to tell, the speed of narration is consistent and theres no breathing heard. Hear his previous uploads and compare.
@SuthernSunshine Did you even listen to it? Because only the first short story is read robotically, the rest are different and perfectly fine. I've listened to all the Roald Dahl uploads on this channel.

very well said ! 💯
Would love to listen to this but can’t due to robotic voice.
Once you get past the first story it gets much better.
@ Thanks
Narrator Stephen Carpenter
maybe put that info above (if people can be bothered to read...) thankyou!

This would be absolutely perfect, the narration is horrible. Robotic. Sounds like AI😢
Its AI. Sounds bad.
@SuthernSunshine I listened to the whole thing, It's not AI.

You're all getting it free. No respect for the author's work.
this guy sounds like a cavalry charge. slow down, relax
AI crap narration.
Exactly. So bummed
This is not AI.Just bad narration of the first short story. It gets much better.
Is this switched to AI reading. Intonation is otf.
Roald Dahl should be treated by a human, he is too subtle for an AI fly through. Pity.
This is not AI
…also should be in English not American.
Can't stand machine voices. Boo!
so disappointing.
