    According to Kim Crick, PB66 is very fugitive just like the actual Indigo pigment. I have to say the mixes you made with the shadow green are really pretty. I have it in DS, DV, and Holbein and like the DV version the best, though I do like the others as well. I have never tried Shinhan. Maybe some day. My list gets longer and more expensive as I go. lol I live in the US and the city I live in surprisingly only has a couple of chain craft stores, no real art supply stores, so I have to order everything online. As the fastest growing city in my state, you'd think we'd have art supplies. Ah well. lol

      ohhh is it now? that's great info! i didn't now that! i wonder if maybe i did come across that info and decided against buying it but i honestly cant remember haha. my opinion on Shinhan is that, it's definitely great quality and very comparable to holbein and mijello. but of course like with any other brand, there will be some that can be weird. they have a viridian AND viridian hue both made with PG7. so silly. so yeah, just do your research, watch some swatch vids and you should be good. that said, i wouldn't say it's any better or different than the western brands so don't waste your money on repeat colours :) oh man, i feel you~! i wanna be able to actually go into an art store and physically buy products as well. i only got back into watercolour literally a little bit before covid so most of my shopping has been online. :(

    I got distracted by the unicorn poop thing. 🙃 What I originally wanted to say is I particularly like this video and the one you did like it for PY53. I don’t know if you have any plans to do more of these in the future, but I really enjoyed the gradient blends and your commentary. Thank you for sharing!

    I do recommend the holbein one if you can find it cheaper than other brand, it’s almost the same as schmincke or winsor newton, it’s great for making pine tree or background forests, and mixing it with warm yellow make some really nice natural green. Quinacridone gold hues does make really nice green when mixed with any blue or green, like With phthalo green, indanthrone or perylene green its such a shame the original PO49 is discontinued it seems like a perfect golden yellow without the strong PY150, i may try to scout it at my local art shop since they carry the full daniel smith line, if its the new formula then i’ll just buy the holbein one since i like the hue a lot, don’t quote me on this but i heard PO48 is also in decline which why many european brand doesn’t make their quin gold with PO48, even roman szmal change the formula to PR101 and PY150.

    • @PaintinHiding
      @PaintinHiding  2 роки тому +2

      ohh that's so much for confirming that holbein's is great :D it's definitely not cheap cheap but i can find it locally which is cheaper than w&n/schmincke. aaah yeah, i've been hearing about PO48 declining as but but many say it's not entirely confirmed because daniel smith once came out and said they bought loads and still have plenty to make it for many years to come. rembrandt also has PO48 available. but yeah, i noticed that roman szmal now offers a second quin gold option too. so intriguing~

      @@PaintinHiding yup, holbein is a great brand if you can find it affordably. Ah interesting, i might get a PO48 to try maybe the m.grahams one or the daniel smith one if i get the chance, thx for the info.

    It took me a few days to get around to watching this one. PBk31 is perfect for a landscape or floral palette. I agree that because the chroma is low to begin with, this pigment mixes great natural greens and is wonderful for shadow colors in foliage. Because it's more towards yellow green the best mixing compliments are perelyne violet or dioxazine purple. (I know it looks bluish, but as colors have less chroma they look cooler. See Bruce's "An Artist's Color Wheel" on Handprint for a graphic representation of this.)

    Pb28 must have some extra fillers in it. Whenever I mix a colour with it there is a powdery look. Maybe the filler comes on the surface. I don't know if you have the same impression or my batch is just wrong.

    • @PaintinHiding
      @PaintinHiding  2 роки тому

      well PB28 is a cobalt pigment. no matter if it's a cobalt blue, turquoise, or teal... they're going to be semi-opaque. depending on the brand, you might get some that are more transparent than others but generally i would say it's quite normal for PB28 to result in "powdery" mixes. :) hope that helps.
