Any shop organizing videos will be watched and appreciated. I’ve had two of the JAG prints, I was not impressed. I have one set of ALS plans and they were very good. This should be a fun build for you Patrick. Lots different than slabs. 24 hours of top and back carving.
Thanks Dane, you understand that this is all yours and Jason Beam's fault don't you? I've wanted to do a 335 for years but it was seeing those builds that made me believe I could do it :)
I've been following you for a while and I managed, thanks to you, to complete my first Tele Thinline. I really hope you complete the project, I'm looking for a build like that and I'd like to try my hand. Brexit has ruined everything, everything you buy from the UK costs a lot more, I hope to find a guitar piano in the EU. Sorry for my bad english
That's great to hear Betty, this is why I started the channel, to help others build :) It's become more expensive to buy from the EU as well, hopefully they will get it sorted out soon.
I will definitely be following this build! I love the level of detail you go into, and I can’t wait to see how you approach all of the unique challenges of the the 335. I always learn a lot from your builds.
@@Adventuresfromtheshedofdreams A superstrat shecter hybrid thing. I like the contours of the shecter but not the pointy bits. Being made from an old mahogany door frame which was in a skip and the left over swamp ash resawn for the top from my own previous baritone build. Thanks for asking. Keep up the good work.
Looking forward to this build. 1.5mm will bend fine round the horns, you only need 2 to make your sides, they will be plenty strong enough if you've got kerfing.
Semi-Hollow.. great new project.. how do you think a craved top will resonate vs a laminate top that may flex a bit more.. perhaps it will be marginal at best? Enjoyed watching the template building.. these are the assumed parts that make or break the build for sure.. carving the top and bottom will be a treat.. why not include us in the modifications to the shed?.. shoot a vid of your logic behind the placement of all your tools and benches.. should be interesting seeing the layout now vs your improvements and your logic behind it.. and yes.. Summer is in full force in the States as well.. my peach trees are about to burst.. I wonder if peach wood is a good tone wood??.. lol
Thanks mate, I think the carved top would make more of a diference on a fully hollow body, in a 335 with the big centre block I don't think it will make that much of a difference. Hard to say though, probably different for each individual piece of wood. Shed update videos coming up :)
Loving these videos I'm on part 14 now. What a dream come true to be able to do this in the man cave, showing real talent mate all the best hope Christmas was good. Regards
Great start to another fun build! It looks like you’ve already upgraded some of your video equipment (or procedures?) for the better. I’m sure the changes you’ve got in store will make it even better, so I’m looking forward to seeing whatever you offer us on this channel 😀
Wow, I can't even think what that must feel like!! That sort of temperature would make AC in the shop worthwhile but for the couple of weeks a year we get it would be pointless. It won't be long before I have to wear three jumpers out there :)
Looking forward to this build mate! I might be teaching you to suck eggs, but if you use a bending form to clamp the sides, remember to allow for the thickness of the sides so that the inner form is slightly smaller than the outer form. Or you vould make the inner form in a few pieces. Have fun!
@@Adventuresfromtheshedofdreams I learned how to build 335's from carving solid plates with both carved in tone bars, and the middle block method from Steve Helgeson of Moonstone Guitars. It's sometimes a struggle to get copyrighted stuff printed in the UK, I could have had a second set of plans for about £5 but to be honest I value the time with the drawing that the tracing gives me. I've noticed details a few times that have stopped be doing something silly :)
Yes! Glad your building a 335. Carving the top and back will give it a unique tonality. Keen to hear it
Thanks Zac, I'm really interested to hear what it sounds like as well.
Love 335’s. I’ll be right with you all the way through mate. Can’t wait!
Thanks Dean :)
A great start to a very exciting project. I'm already ordering the popcorn!
Thanks Martin, sweet not salty I hope :)
Everyone needs a 335 in their collection, such a great and versatile instrument
Absolutely, I've wanted one for years.
Already looking forward to the next one. I’m going to enjoy this
Thanks mate :)
Gonna watch every second. Can not wait, very excited about this build. Best of luck (not that you need it).
Thanks Keith, I'm looking forward to this one as well :)
Look forward to this Patrick!
Thanks John :)
Looking forward to this build and videos of upgrading the work shop would be interesting
Thanks Jim, I'll get onto the upgrade videos :)
I love the whole ES-3XX series, and I'm really looking forward to this build. 👍
Thanks mate :)
Looks like an interesting build. Great video. Looking forward to watching more. Subscribed.
Thanks for the sub John, I hope you enjoy watching the rest of the build. I really enjoyed doing the 335 even if it was a bit of a long job :)
Very nice 👍 I’m really looking forward to this build.
Thanks Pete :)
Ooooh, I've been wanting to build a 335-style guitar. I'll follow this build closely!
Thanks mate :)
Brave man! I'm sure you'll do a great job. Looking forward to it!
Thanks Phil, it's going to be a challenge for sure!
This is great because I am going to build one of these next so I am really looking forward to this set of videos.
Thanks John, hopefully I'll be able to point out some of the pitfalls along the way :)
@@Adventuresfromtheshedofdreams That would be most helpful thank you.

Ambitious, I love it! Figuring out how to do this has been a thought exercise of mine since I started a 335 kit a while back.
Thanks mate, I've had to do a crazy amount of research for this one so I've been going through the same exercise :)

We average 45 C from March till November, here in Austin, Texas, USA. I know what you mean about "any task " , though.

Yeah, I used to be able to get them done at work until I changed jobs. I quite lie the tracing process, lets me get a really good look at the plans.
Looking forward to this build mate!
I might be teaching you to suck eggs, but if you use a bending form to clamp the sides, remember to allow for the thickness of the sides so that the inner form is slightly smaller than the outer form. Or you vould make the inner form in a few pieces.

Thanks Andrew, I'll remember to make sure I make allowance for the thickness of the ribs :)

I hope so, I'm a day or so away from getting strings on now. Can't wait to hear it!

How much for a 7ft piece of maple? and where from please
Hi Jason, the maple was about £120 from Duffield timber in Yorkshire.
@@Adventuresfromtheshedofdreams im in east yorkshire myself, i will have a look at there site. Great work by the way and thanks for the reply!
5:30 a printer can copy those plans. I just did that for a set of plans, cost me about $12US dollars
