Particularly like the weather forecaster. There was, I think, for a time in every European country TV weathermen who were cuddly, father-like figures, reassuring, sensible, and with a near awful sense of dress - the beige checked suit or jacket being a favourite. They nearly were always balding and had been doing the job for years. In the UK there was one of these characters in nearly every regional ITV and BBC station. It is interesting to see that the Albanian weather is relayed almost completely in the context of a wider Europe, the forecaster only settling on the Albanian map for a few seconds at the end of the forecast. The domestic UK forecast barely mentions the rest of Europe, yet the weather doesn't stop at national boundaries! It's as if the UK forecasters understand the weather a mere 23 kms across La Manche (The Channel) as being somehow 'foreign'. Not even its nearest neighbours get a look-in. Particularly odd when you consider BBC-1 is broadcast on cable throughout the Netherlands, and the Republic of Ireland, yet not even these two neighbours get a mention.

This is a bit strange...BBC1,in cable tv in the Netherlands is okay,but when we wanted to have it in cable here in Slovakia,it was said that is nôt possibe due to aut.rights...only BBC world and BBC Prime are oficially legal....or does BBC buy special rights for NL?

This may be for the benefit of British workers and hotels which have British guests. It is maybe included in a special cable subscription that has a higher price and is targeted at these special markets. Maybe cable companies in Slovakia don't see the licensing of BBC 1 as economically viable, or they think the target market is non-existent in Slovakia. Either that or BBC does not want to license BBC 1 to a Slovakian company for reasons which are only known internally. (could be copyright treaties, licensing restrictions from BBC's suppliers, or concerns about piracy) You're lucky not to have BBC anyway. In Britain, it is just regarded as a stupid government run propaganda service. Their news was once highly regarded, but has now degraded into sensationalist stories and propaganda.

Le trasmissioni della Televisione di Stato di quei anni iniziavano puntualmente alle 18.00 preceduti di un quarto d'ora dal intervallo con la stema TV universale e internazionale. Il palinsesto era composto da contenuti maggiormente di produzione propria (nazionali) e pochi di quelli esteri. Dopo la sigla dell inizio trasmissioni, andava in onda edizione info di 10 min circa e poi subito dopo programmi dedicati ai bambini con una durata massima di 20-25 min. Poi c'erano programmi vari dedicati alla musica, economia, scienza, e problematiche varie con una durata massima sempre di 25-30 min per arrivare alle ore 20.00 dove era posizionato edizione principale delle notizie dell giorno in cui si diffondeva la propaganda del regime . Molto curioso e il fatto che le notizie dal estero venivano trasmesse dopo i primi 20 min del TG ( cioe alle ore 20.20 .ca) a prescindere dal qualsiasi evento internazionale di qualsiasi tipo, in poche parole mai apertura del TG (Revista Televiziva) con notizie dal estero! Subito dopo il Tg andava in onda info Meteo ( il pelato che vediamo anche in questo video di nome Petrit) e poi c'erano trasmissioni culturali e storici, oppure musicali, documentari vari di ogni genere per di più propagandistici. Invece Film e serie tv andavano in onda solo di Martedì, Giovedì, alle 20.35 e Sabato dopo le 21.30. (Sabato solitamente c,erano spettacoli tv, musica di folclore e tradizionale, ma anche quella leggera ma sempre produzione propria, quindi niente musica Pop dei anni 80, Disco, Rock, Blues, etc etc) Alle 22.30 (exluso Sabato) di nuovo edizione Flash Notizie, sigla di fine trasmissioni e verso le 22.50 tutti a nana! A proposito di film e serie tv, quelle erano di più produzione estera dalla Francia/Gb ma sopratutto ITALIA di rete RAI. Visto che la maggior parte dei contenuti del palinsesto erano di produzione albanese si puo subito intuire che la tv di stato non poteva supportare trasmissioni di lunga durata ma mediamente oscillava tra i 4,5-5,5 ore! L'ultima osservazione riguarda la mancanza totale dei dibattiti televisivi, talk-show di vario genere e argomenti, tribune elettorali, trasmissioni di politiche esteri o interni, approfondimenti etc etc che significava un grave handicap per una televisione di stato. Alla fine per tutti i nostalgici e curiosi rimane da aggiungere che lo speaker tv delle notizie (min 2:40 del video) e ancora presente su un emittente privato, NEWS-24 alle edizione TG delle 19.00 visibile su Ballkan Web.com distinto per devozione e professionalita ,invece i volti storici delle donne presentatrici sono sparite nei primi anni 90 e non si sa che fine hanno fatto, forse sono andate all estero.

Un piccolo comento va dedicato anche allo staff della radio TIRANA, emittente che esisteva gia nei anni 30, ma che dopo gli anni 50 ha conosciuto un sviluppo notevole grazie anche l'asistenza dei tecnici di Radio Mosca, e loro investimenti sia nella tecnica sia nella preparazione dei operatori, tecnici, e allo staff che ci lavorava a Radio TIRANA! Le trasmissioni radio iniziavano a mattina presto alle 05:00 in punto, e subito dopo inno nazionale c'era una edizione flash di notizie di 10-15 min e poi una trasmissione molta amata dai ascoltatori che si intitolava " Me muzike nga Jugu ne Veri" - ( con la musica dal Nord al Sud) che raccoglieva la musica di tutte le regioni del Albania! Alle 07.00 c'era la programmazione dedicata ai più piccoli che andavano a scuola etc etc....! Dopo le 8 programmazioni varie compresso anche l'info della stampa quotidiana, e perfino lettura dei libri dei scrittori nazionali e stranieri, (pezzi dalla letteratura mondiale) in cui una voce professionale narrava la trama dei libri, o dei spezzoni scelti. Edizioni principali delle GR (giornale radio) erano alle 15.30 e alle 20.00! Ogni domenica sera c'era Rubrica Sport, ma gia alle 14.00 c'erano i collegamenti in diretta dai stadi per le partite del campionato nazionale! Ogni sera alle 19.00-19.20 c'era un piccolo spazio dedicato ai più piccoli dove una voce calda, professionale, raccontava delle fiabe meravigliose per i bambini! Esisteva anche un secondo canale radio dedicato ai albanesi che stavano fuori dai confini nazionali, ma soprattutto serviva come una finestra aperta all mondo per tutti i stranieri nel mondo interessati ai fatti del ALBANIA perché su questo canale, il contenuto delle trasmissioni era tutto in lingua straniera, quasi 45 lingue diverse del mondo, compresa l'albanese per la diaspora albanese al estero! Doveroso e di sottolineare due fatti importanti: Lo speaker della mattina presto, andava gia un ora prima in Radio per preparare la voce e il materiale che andava in onda, ed era uno dei migliori in circolazione sull territorio nazionale, aveva studiato in ITALIA se non sbaglio per canto e leteratura e lavoro con alta professionalità e devozione fino a meta dei anni 70. Si chiamava HAKI BEJLERI. mio padre seguiva le trasmissioni dal centro italia , racconta che dopo l' alleanza del albania con la cina e la rottura con mosca, le onde vennero potenziate dai tecnici cinesi. radio tirana doveva essere il megafono del "vero marxismo- leninismo" accusando di corruzione e degrado tutto l occidente e di revisionismo tutto il blocco socialista fedele a mosca. io non lo mai ascolta e mi diverte sentire quando racconta dei loro radio-giornali erano unici nel loro modo di fare propaganda
Fine anni 80, in certe ore si riceveva il segnale TV albanese a Gallipoli (Puglia). Si sentiva una musica militare di pochi secondi, mandata in loop per tutta la notte con la bandiera albanese in sottofondo.

It looks like this broadcast was received and recorded at a distance from its source. The stronger black-and-white signal travels farther than the colour signal. Besides, VCRs in Albania at the time were virtually unheard of, so this would have been recorded in another country, hence the distance. But, yes, this would have been broadcast in colour in 1986. However, black-and-white television sets were still more common than colour sets at that time.
No, its probably because it was received in a neighbouring country that used another colour encoding system. If you record a SECAM broadcast you might just be able to record in PAL in B&W if you are lucky, sometimes you might not get sound, and vice versa.All academic now as terrestrial TV is pretty much conformed to one digital standard across Europe ..
Eric Norton ,a parte limiti tecnici dovuti a sistemi di ricetrasmissioni obsoleti il bianconero rifletteva esattamente il clima che si respirava in Albania a quei tempi. A colori c'era solo una parte dei film anni "70-"80 e qualche tv in possesso dei membri della nomenclatura. Diciamo che più della metà popolazione non possedeva neanche quello in bianco e nero e ad ogni modo,i primi apparecchi a colori sono arrivati a cavallo tra il "90-"91.

its not a question of distance. Its that the countries surrounding Albania all used different colour encoding systems. I cant recall which used what, but I think Yugoslavia used SECAM (the slightly odd French system), possibly Greece also, Italy was definitely on PAL the German system. Cant recall what Albania used. Try receiving a signal designed for one system on another system and you either got black and white or colour and no sound, or no sound and black and white!
Now_1 Yugoslavia used definitely PAL because here in Southeast Austria where I live many people watched JRT Ljubljana in the 1980s and it was in perfect color. So I think it was a distance recording throughout the sea because black/white signal has a longer distance than color signal.
No. RTSH Actually got color in 1980-81 (as a second last in europe) but the country at the time didnt recieve color outside its country. If you were inside of albania you would have chance of the color.

Albania is the third communist country who uses the color system PAL after Yugoslavia and Romania. Before to accept the color, Albania uses color broadcasts from Yugoslavia in 1971 and Italy in 1977, but were jammed due a censorship of many programs in Albania in that time

Poi c'erano programmi vari dedicati alla musica, economia, scienza, e problematiche varie con una durata massima sempre di 25-30 min per arrivare alle ore 20.00 dove era posizionato edizione principale delle notizie dell giorno in cui si diffondeva la propaganda del regime . Molto curioso e il fatto che le notizie dal estero venivano trasmesse dopo i primi 20 min del TG ( cioe alle ore 20.20 .ca) a prescindere dal qualsiasi evento internazionale di qualsiasi tipo, in poche parole mai apertura del TG (Revista Televiziva) con notizie dal estero! Subito dopo il Tg andava in onda info Meteo ( il pelato che vediamo anche in questo video di nome Petrit) e poi c'erano trasmissioni culturali e storici, oppure musicali, documentari vari di ogni genere per di più propagandistici. Invece Film e serie tv andavano in onda solo di Martedì, Giovedì, alle 20.35 e Sabato dopo le 21.30. (Sabato solitamente c,erano spettacoli tv, musica di folclore e tradizionale, ma anche quella leggera ma sempre produzione propria, quindi niente musica Pop dei anni 80, Disco, Rock, Blues, etc etc) Alle 22.30 (exluso Sabato) di nuovo edizione Flash Notizie, sigla di fine trasmissioni e verso le 22.50 tutti a nana! A proposito di film e serie tv, quelle erano di più produzione estera dalla Francia/Gb ma sopratutto ITALIA di rete RAI. Visto che la maggior parte dei contenuti del palinsesto erano di produzione albanese si puo subito intuire che la tv di stato non poteva supportare trasmissioni di lunga durata ma mediamente oscillava tra i 4,5-5,5 ore! L'ultima osservazione riguarda la mancanza totale dei dibattiti televisivi, talk-show di vario genere e argomenti, tribune elettorali, trasmissioni di politiche esteri o interni, approfondimenti etc etc che significava un grave handicap per una televisione di stato. Alla fine per tutti i nostalgici e curiosi rimane da aggiungere che lo speaker tv delle notizie (min 2:40 del video) e ancora presente su un emittente privato, NEWS-24 alle edizione TG delle 19.00 visibile su Ballkan Web.com distinto per devozione e professionalita ,invece i volti storici delle donne presentatrici sono sparite nei primi anni 90 e non si sa che fine hanno fatto, forse sono andate all estero.

Un piccolo comento va dedicato anche allo staff della radio TIRANA, emittente che esisteva gia nei anni 30, ma che dopo gli anni 50 ha conosciuto un sviluppo notevole grazie anche l'asistenza dei tecnici di Radio Mosca, e loro investimenti sia nella tecnica sia nella preparazione dei operatori, tecnici, e allo staff che ci lavorava a Radio TIRANA! Le trasmissioni radio iniziavano a mattina presto alle 05:00 in punto, e subito dopo inno nazionale c'era una edizione flash di notizie di 10-15 min e poi una trasmissione molta amata dai ascoltatori che si intitolava " Me muzike nga Jugu ne Veri" - ( con la musica dal Nord al Sud) che raccoglieva la musica di tutte le regioni del Albania! Alle 07.00 c'era la programmazione dedicata ai più piccoli che andavano a scuola etc etc....! Dopo le 8 programmazioni varie compresso anche l'info della stampa quotidiana, e perfino lettura dei libri dei scrittori nazionali e stranieri, (pezzi dalla letteratura mondiale) in cui una voce professionale narrava la trama dei libri, o dei spezzoni scelti. Edizioni principali delle GR (giornale radio) erano alle 15.30 e alle 20.00! Ogni domenica sera c'era Rubrica Sport, ma gia alle 14.00 c'erano i collegamenti in diretta dai stadi per le partite del campionato nazionale! Ogni sera alle 19.00-19.20 c'era un piccolo spazio dedicato ai più piccoli dove una voce calda, professionale, raccontava delle fiabe meravigliose per i bambini! Esisteva anche un secondo canale radio dedicato ai albanesi che stavano fuori dai confini nazionali, ma soprattutto serviva come una finestra aperta all mondo per tutti i stranieri nel mondo interessati ai fatti del ALBANIA perché su questo canale, il contenuto delle trasmissioni era tutto in lingua straniera, quasi 45 lingue diverse del mondo, compresa l'albanese per la diaspora albanese al estero! Doveroso e di sottolineare due fatti importanti: Lo speaker della mattina presto, andava gia un ora prima in Radio per preparare la voce e il materiale che andava in onda, ed era uno dei migliori in circolazione sull territorio nazionale, aveva studiato in ITALIA se non sbaglio per canto e leteratura e lavoro con alta professionalità e devozione fino a meta dei anni 70. Si chiamava HAKI BEJLERI. Fine anni 80, in certe ore si riceveva il segnale TV albanese a Gallipoli (Puglia). Si sentiva una musica militare di pochi secondi, mandata in loop per tutta la notte con la bandiera albanese in sottofondo.

It looks like this broadcast was received and recorded at a distance from its source. The stronger black-and-white signal travels farther than the colour signal. Besides, VCRs in Albania at the time were virtually unheard of, so this would have been recorded in another country, hence the distance.
But, yes, this would have been broadcast in colour in 1986. However, black-and-white television sets were still more common than colour sets at that time.
No, its probably because it was received in a neighbouring country that used another colour encoding system. If you record a SECAM broadcast you might just be able to record in PAL in B&W if you are lucky, sometimes you might not get sound, and vice versa.All academic now as terrestrial TV is pretty much conformed to one digital standard across Europe ..

Eric Norton ,a parte limiti tecnici dovuti a sistemi di ricetrasmissioni obsoleti il bianconero rifletteva esattamente il clima che si respirava in Albania a quei tempi. A colori c'era solo una parte dei film anni "70-"80 e qualche tv in possesso dei membri della nomenclatura. Diciamo che più della metà popolazione non possedeva neanche quello in bianco e nero e ad ogni modo,i primi apparecchi a colori sono arrivati a cavallo tra il "90-"91.

KRENAR SEVDARI The most likely location would be Italy, Yugoslavia, or Greece. I don't have any actual information. VCRs were almost unheard of in Albania then, and if the video had been recorded in Albania it most certainly would have been in colour. The black and white signal travels farther than the colour signal does.
its not a question of distance. Its that the countries surrounding Albania all used different colour encoding systems. I cant recall which used what, but I think Yugoslavia used SECAM (the slightly odd French system), possibly Greece also, Italy was definitely on PAL the German system. Cant recall what Albania used. Try receiving a signal designed for one system on another system and you either got black and white or colour and no sound, or no sound and black and white!
Now_1 Yugoslavia used definitely PAL because here in Southeast Austria where I live many people watched JRT Ljubljana in the 1980s and it was in perfect color. So I think it was a distance recording throughout the sea because black/white signal has a longer distance than color signal.

No. RTSH Actually got color in 1980-81 (as a second last in europe) but the country at the time didnt recieve color outside its country. If you were inside of albania you would have chance of the color.

Albania is the third communist country who uses the color system PAL after Yugoslavia and Romania. Before to accept the color, Albania uses color broadcasts from Yugoslavia in 1971 and Italy in 1977, but were jammed due a censorship of many programs in Albania in that time
