Living up to his favourite’s billing, Christian Coleman dominated the 100m to underscore his ambitions to stake claim to the ‘world’s fastest man’ title in the post-Usain Bolt era.
His style isn’t quite reminiscent, but the manner of his 9.76 winning performance at Khalifa Stadium was. In World Championships history, only Bolt’s legendary 9.58 world record at the 2009 edition in Berlin has been faster.

@@camilla2424 anyone can be beaten, if you beat Bolt and you don't run under 9.8 should tell you that Bolt is in bad shape. Coleman is the future of sprinting but real track athletes know that if Bolt was over 80% fit it's a rap. Gatlin beat Bolt a couple of times running in the 9.9's, Asafa Powell beat him running 9.8, Tyson Gay beat him running 9.8 and Yohan Blake beat him running 9.75. Since 2008, Bolt only lost in one major championship and got disqualified in one. We always rooted for one of our American athletes to beat him (especially Justin) but we know that Bolt is the man and everyone knows that. Go team USA.

@@Kenny-mu2xb bolt usually joggled 9,8-9,9s times in semi finals which could easily been 9,5s-9,7s range. 9,76s would be average for him. Good time for him is below 9,75s. Sprint conditions were good in that race too. Bolt ran 9,79s in -0,5 wind 2015. 9,77s in rainy conditions wind -0,3. Bolt ran in rio 9,81s which was considered bad for him... he ran 9,84s in semis easing down so people excepted him ran low 9,7s or high 9,6s but he was tired he didn't have time to recover.

Lol we will see in a few: Coleman has been suspended again for missing tests when the drug testers arrived. That is 6 tests between 2018-2019. He got off on a technicality when he was provisionally suspended last year by the American Athletics Associations when he missed 3 drug tests from their officials, now he has missed 3 drug tests from IAAF officials in a row. Interesting times ahead.

No but Justin Gatlin has been pushing. He was so old here and yet he settled for number 2. It reminds me of 2017 when Gatlin won, Coleman was 2nd and Bolt was 3rd, and Gatlin said "there is no rest, yes Bolt has left but there's youngsters like Coleman upconing" and he was right. Coleman and Gatlin basically swapped positions. What a great race. Yeses🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
