I think these wrestlers should just do a normal back suplex. German suplex can be dangerous if he had done it wrong like he did just now. My wrestling coach used to tell me that if you're gonna slam somebody your knee needs to hit the ground first.

As a Judoka I can flat out tell you that the mats during competition are pretty damn hard compared to what some people think. But that tends to be when the people running it are being cheap. They are still 100 times more protective than the little bedsheet wrestling rolls out.

Dude duplexes the other guy because he is probably trained in freestyle wrestling. The kid gets up on his feet, and he grips the waist. That’s legal. He lifts him up and moves from behind him when he slams, which is dangerous because in a suplex you are taught to keep a straight posture the entire time and go straight into the air and back and release after you make contact with the mat. So no, he didn’t achieve the suplex perfectly and safely, but also the guy he was wrestling was more squirming than fighting back. So it could be either boy’s fault that the one got injured, but high school refs suck so you can’t even tell what he thinks he saw
