How To Make A Marbled Fondant Panel Birthday Cake- Rosie's Dessert Spot

- A fun, beginner level cake design featuring fondant, and a fun marbled effect. I normally use Bakels fondant whenever I cover a cake in fondant or make these sort of decorations. In this video however, I actually ended up using the Coles brand since I didn’t have any left. I was actually a little disappointed with the Coles brand of fondant, and wish I had spent the extra dollar on the Orcid brand instead haha! If you need fondant, and you buy it from the groceries, use Orcid. Waaaay better quality! This one seemed to rip a lot, and was not the most flexible thing to work with. But for this particular project, it did the job pretty well. I like to use Vodka to make edible paint, but if alcohol is not an option, white vinegar will do the trick, or lemon juice :) both of these are super acidic, which allows the liquid to evaporate and leaves behind a dry, intense gold line of “paint”. I hope you like it :)

I love all your cakes. Just wanted to know what do you add to your fondant to make it firm, dry and hold its shape?
Cornstarch. She's let it dry at least for 24 hrs.
After making your shape you can brush the cornstarch on and let dry. After 24 hrs brush off the remaining visible cornstarch and it'll be stiff (enough to stand on its own)

What is the purpose ofthe straw?
Hi Keith, these are here to support the weight of the top tier. Without these, the weight of the cake sitting on top would eventually sink into the bottom tier, or become lopsided and topple over. They are basically support beams :) the more tiers you have, the heavier the cake, and the more straws you will need to insert into the cake.
