*The people of my little Caribbean island Puerto rico 🇵🇷.* Our spanish (thanks to colonizer spain)is mixed with the african and arowak language. We dance to the rhythm of the African drums.
Our food is african and taino inspired. "Boricua" is an arowak word not a spanish word. We are a proud people. Our reggaeton evolved from reggae thanks to our neighbors that share the Caribbean Sea with us listen to "playero37" before the internet lol.
We are taino/African/spainard. And our culture is the very thing that makes us feel alive. Caribeño para siempre. 🇵🇷🌴🌊🥥
If you are so proud, why did you flee the island? Why didn’t you stay and fight for your land?
@@johneta7665 *ask all the Caribbean islands that. Spain conquered all the Caribbean islands. Until the UK came around and decided to take Jamaica and fought Spain over it and won. That's why Jamaica speaks English.*
Proud Boricua here. Look at our people doing our thing. Getting together and celebrating our heritage. Boricua De Corazón
This reminds me of the 90’s. People talking and having a good time.
Very good parade and everyone is involved and having fun. The parade is very inclusive and welcoming to all. Much respect and love.

Man this has to be heaven all those Puerto Rican women 😂
Puerto Ricans come in all colors! I hope Americans can continue to understand this! I travel a lot! My cinnamon tan color skin and light brown hair, tall, light eyes and beautiful, I’m always asked, if I’m from the Middle East, France, or Europe ♥️ 🇺🇸🇵🇷 The streets are dirty! Unreal!
Most of the people in Puerto Rico descend from cubans, dominicans, etc... who have been immigrating there for decades. The Puerto Ricans in the U.S., especially the women/girls, don't like their own people so they intermarry with non-Puerto Ricans.
I bet there aren't many so-called Puerto Ricans who can trace their lineage, unbroken, in Puerto Rico to the year 1900. "Puerto Ricans" are practically extinct. Hopefully Puerto Rico will eventually be inhabited by people who can actually make the island a good place to live. Also, the language should change since Puerto Ricans speak horrible, the food is overrated and the "culture" really isn't much of a culture anyway.
Lol thank you Puerto Ricans are mix. They are beautiful people. I love their skin complexion especially those light skin Puerto Ricans with light brown blond hair. Uffff I melt.
And your skin complexion it's nice as well cinnamon tan. Alot of Puerto ricans have that skin complexion is very nice
IMO Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 and Jamaica 🇯🇲 did it right with the genetic mixing. USVI 🇻🇮 is going through the same since more white Americans and immigrants from Puerto Rico and DR moving here and mixing with the locals.
I'm puertorican and guyanese people can never guess wtf I am lol
Excelente trabajo hicieron mis antepasados, Españoles 🇪🇸🇪🇸mestizaje, alegría de vivir y siempre Fista. 🎉🎉🎉

Summary
Puerto Ricans have significantly contributed to the business landscape of New York neighborhoods for years, particularly through vibrant cultural events like the Puerto Rican Day Parade. My personal experience attending the parade annually has shown me firsthand how this event positively impacts local businesses and stimulates economic growth in my hometown. Each year, the parade not only celebrates Puerto Rican culture but also drives substantial economic activity, attracting visitors, boosting sales for local vendors, and fostering a sense of community that supports local enterprises.
Essay: The Economic Impact of the Puerto Rican Day Parade on My Hometown
For years, the Puerto Rican community has played a vital role in enriching the cultural and economic fabric of New York neighborhoods. The Puerto Rican Day Parade is a prime example of how cultural celebrations can translate into substantial business benefits for local areas. My experience attending this parade annually has provided me with unique insights into how such events drive economic activity and contribute to the prosperity of my hometown.
A Celebration of Culture and Commerce
The Puerto Rican Day Parade is more than just a celebration of heritage; it is a powerful economic engine that breathes life into local businesses. Each year, thousands of people gather to enjoy the vibrant displays of Puerto Rican culture, including music, dance, food, and art. This influx of visitors translates into increased foot traffic for local businesses, ranging from restaurants and food vendors to retail shops and service providers.
Boosting Local Businesses
During the parade, the streets are lined with vendors selling traditional Puerto Rican foods, handmade crafts, and memorabilia. These vendors, often small business owners, see a significant increase in sales during this time. The parade acts as a platform for them to showcase their products to a broader audience, many of whom might not be familiar with their offerings. This exposure helps them build a loyal customer base and increase their revenue.
Local restaurants and bars also experience a surge in business, as parade-goers look for places to dine and celebrate. Many establishments offer special menus and promotions, capitalizing on the festive atmosphere. The increased patronage during the parade often has a lasting impact, with many first-time customers returning in the future.
Fostering Community Support
The parade not only boosts sales but also fosters a sense of community and solidarity among local businesses. By participating in and supporting the parade, businesses demonstrate their commitment to the local culture and community. This goodwill translates into customer loyalty, as residents are more likely to support businesses that celebrate and uphold their cultural values.
Long-Term Economic Benefits
The economic benefits of the Puerto Rican Day Parade extend beyond the immediate boost in sales. The increased visibility and positive exposure for local businesses help to establish the neighborhood as a vibrant and attractive destination for both residents and visitors. This enhanced reputation can lead to more foot traffic and higher sales throughout the year, not just during the parade.
Furthermore, the parade helps to create job opportunities, both temporary and permanent. Vendors and businesses often hire additional staff to manage the increased demand during the parade, providing employment opportunities for local residents. The success of the parade can also encourage new businesses to open in the area, further stimulating economic growth.
Conclusion
My annual experience at the Puerto Rican Day Parade has shown me how cultural events can significantly impact local economies. The parade brings a surge of economic activity to my hometown, benefiting local vendors, restaurants, and businesses. It fosters community support and creates a positive cycle of economic growth that extends well beyond the parade itself. As the Puerto Rican community continues to celebrate its heritage, it also ensures the continued prosperity of the neighborhoods it calls home.
I took a drink every time I saw a hot girl and two drinks for every Roberto Clemente jersey. I’m dead now.
Hilarious!! 😆 😅😅
All the negative stigma about the parade and festival … yet all I see is everyone having a good time with great music . Viva mi gente !
We need to unite and come together and be a powerful voice !!!
Like so many other groups have done …
Look out for one another and stay safe !
Viva Puerto Rico !

Damn, some nice/good looking Puerto Rican joints there! and lol, it looks like dembow remains undefeated,. even in the PR parade, crazy.
That's because Dominicans have the highest Latino population in NY, so that's what you hear more. You don't hear Dembow as much in other places, but also it is just fun music!
@@eazye5770 True, and I was even more surprised to hear it when I was in Mexico lol.

I've always wondered do Cubans, Dominicans and Puerto Ricans go to each other events.
Definitely
Yeah, somewhat
What I wonder is why do dominicans have a parade, they have no attachment to United States.
I guess is more of their desperation to be like us.
They do...not in large number though.
We also attend Colombian, Mexican and Panamanian events as well. We get along in the East Coast and Florida.. idk what’s going on anywhere else
