  • Jay was definitely one of my favorite characters in Modern Family. His arch was amazing and the moments he has with certain characters was just so heartwarming.

I think this is because Jay is always a good dad. Claire was just a little high-maintenance, Mitchell was a little hard for him to accept, and Manny took some time before Jay can see him as a son. The one episode that makes me think Jay has always been a good one is when he revealed that he stayed in marriage with his ex-wife just because he wanted his kids to grow up with both parents.

Jay reminds me of my step-dad (which I consider my real dad than my biological dad). He and my mom got married when I was 8. He was 54 and my mom was 36 that time. At that age, men would have kids around 20 yrs old so he didn't know how to deal with kids our age considering the generation differences between me and our step-sister. When I was younger, I always thought that he was an asshole because of his ways, and sometimes hurtful comments. But now that I am in my twenties, I really am thankful that he was like that with me and my sister. I appreciate him because he was always there for us, unlike our biological dad. He treated us like his own and he never made us feel that we were his step-kids. I love him so much and I am grateful that I have a dad like him (and like Jay!)

When Jay made up a story for Manny's Dad, that moment I felt there was never a better dad there could be, ever other than Jay in tv show history, he was truly an amazing dad of his generation.

    MISSED the most important moment:
When Claire & Mitch figure out how Jay was facing financial issues & hence had to cut off their vacation to work as a waiter to pay family bills. Jay named his career changing closet collection as MADDOX- after Mitch’s favourite music album

Jay taking Manny to Disney world is the best scene and it’s so early in the show. It really set the stage for what the show was about for me. - Jay could have taken that opportunity to do what so many broken families so , try to make the kid play favorites say “your dad doesn’t want you but I do” he keeps Manny’s bad dad in good light as he should even though that’s very hard to do

Kids always know who´s there for them. Jay used to get jealous when Manny used to think that Javier was an incredible dad for showing up to do the fun stuff but as he grew up he realized who was there for him.
That moment they had in the graduation episode felt so wholesome. Finally, Manny recognizes him as his dad.
