this was the first i had ever heard her music, and i was blown away. it captured me instantly. her voice is so beautiful and unique. i instantly found this song on spotify and listened to it afterward. it’s so beautiful. gives me goosebumps every time.
OP had written annunciation - which is (Wikipedia) the Christian celebration of the announcement by the Archangel Gabriel to the Blessed Virgin Mary that she would conceive and bear a son through a virgin birth.
A modern day Billie Holliday crossed with Etta James but still with her own distinctive sound. Beautiful, haunting, hypnotising voice. She's a great talent.
@@evimbourger You should visit an ENT if that's what you hear. Sarah had three octaves, perfectly controlled. Celeste has little more than one before she has to go to her head voice. And, unlike Sarah, that roughness isn't a choice, it's a lack of breath control.
They both have a vintage vibe but they are very different in their sound. Amy was more nasal, sadness drawn out and at times sounding rebellious like she didn’t care if you liked her or her singing. Celeste is more bluesy with darker tone, more guttural and unlike Amy, Celeste is present with you aware of what she is creating moment to moment. Every part of the song matters how it is sung and heard.
I heard it on Ted Lasso and was blown away… music is truly the soundtrack to our lives !! Crazy how Someone somewhere can articulate it so clearly like they were there ! Amazing
it’s insane how a lot of ppl are barely just getting on Celeste :(( she’s so talented & she was so SLEPT ON i’m glad she’s finally getting recognition talent at its finest 🥺
What I love about this is that her voice, which is evidently haunting in and of itself .. but that it captures the very essence behind the lyrics .. she takes you somewhere. Its transportive and transformative all at once. Many voices are considered technically flawless and there are so many facets in singing that make a song sound good but not every voice can communicate the message in this way. Spellbinding.
Once in a life time, if we are lucky, we get to hear a voice that reaches the our very soul. This lady is that voice, stretching every emotion within s with her delicate yet powerful chords. She touched my heart, and my soul. Celeste is that one voice of our life time
Just heard this song for the first time and it made me cry. Hitting me at an exact moment in life where it’s speaking what I haven’t been able to verbalize. Had to look up a live performance and she’s even more powerful and haunting. This song is ❤️
This exact performance came on the TV 10 days after my first break up and when I tell you, despite how long it’s been, this song can instantly bring up those emotions I felt when I first heard it
@@tiaausten_ It's amazing when music can tap into universal experiences. She has that power of authenticity and honesty with her voice that just slices through.
Abject Abandonment, Loss & Grief all in a haunting Jazz ballad. The musical definition of the feelings, Pain & bitter experience. A new Jazz standard right here💙
Iconic performance.. havent stopped listening to it. Absolute classic of a sad love song. I think everyone has somebody they think about when they hear this song 💔
Once upon a time I listened this song for it just being a masterpiece.... now I listen it with the feels of having lived it. It hurts. Deeply. Isn't it strange......
For me, one of the very few highlights of the evening. From the depths of subdued lighting, piano chords emerged and simple melancholic words with such meaningfulness were artistically performed with great emotion and gracefulness. Celeste, thank you for those precious minutes and for bringing a sparkle of brightness into a relatively dull show.
I’ll never be able to thank Lisa Alison and the one who let me shout and scream and swear and I drew his grand daughter pictures because I think she is one of the best artists to become I can’t believe but I do she is fantastic 0:20

Oh my dear God in heaven this is beautiful. I struggle with finding the good things in life lately, but sometimes you stumble on something that just completely takes your breath away. Reminds you there is beauty in this place, even if it seems hard to find from time to time. Spellbound.
Saw her perform this song on Colors and LOVED it, and really really love this too. I fee like the spirit of the two performances is different. On Colors, she was a lot quieter, like she was near tears and was still heartbroken. Here, she sounds very confident, like she’s facing her past self and choosing to change. I’m going to go see if she has any new music because...she gives me the feels that Adele never gave me.
I was watching the brits the night the world got to hear the authentic master poet that is Celeste, to say I experienced this moment in music is an understatement GOOSEPIMPLES 👌 💜
listened to her album, this is not the only masterpiece she has ! she deserved recognition , please share her talent to your close friends , it is the least we can do ❤️❤️
I’m envious of everyone who gets to listen to this song for the first time. The 10th time, still chills, but not like the first.
And especially envious of people who were there to enjoy the performance.
Oh i heard it the first time an i was lost
i was in the pit this year and it was my first time hearing it. it moved me to tears.
I read your comment like really? Then two minutes into the song I was crying a bit like 🤯
Jerry Duplo quite something huh

same🥺🥺🥺
It came up on one of my Spotify playlists today after last night's performance. I guess my phone sensed that I really wanted to listen to it again.
I feel the exact same in fact I couldn't have put it better myself!
The first time I heard her singing is that Spotify ad
Shawn Cee told me about it and I’ve been loving her ever since
She has such control, perfect enunciation and her tone is so unique.
enunciation 😉
bro what?
OP had written annunciation - which is (Wikipedia) the Christian celebration of the announcement by the Archangel Gabriel to the Blessed Virgin Mary that she would conceive and bear a son through a virgin birth.
Yessss ! What control - amazing....love this song....i could loop it over and over and over...
Slower than the official audio, her voice sounds even better here, more control, people will listen to this in 50 years and wish they were there.
You don't use this you said - JUST LIESTEN!
Yeah I thought the same!
I’m listening a rn wishing I was there lol
A modern day Billie Holliday crossed with Etta James but still with her own distinctive sound. Beautiful, haunting, hypnotising voice. She's a great talent.
She is 25 - she don't knwe nothing about anything - she only does!
I hear Sarah Vaughan
I hear a HINT of Rebecca Ferguson aswell

This is joke, right? Are you suggesting she's a junkie, too? You can't possibly be comparing her singing to theirs.
Bridgerton brought me to this song and I’m so grateful

which bit was it in? was it done with strings or something?
@@tessdedman4264 yes it was a strings cover during the first love scene between Daphne/Simon (Strange - Kris Bowers ft. Hillary Smith)

Has to be one of the best BRIT performances ever. Wonderful.
She sings so effortlessly just like Amy ... pure art

Well!
First time I heard it I didn't know the artist so guessed it was a lesser known song that Amy Winehouse did. Boy was I wrong

I just heard it now while ted was having a breakdown and holy this song slaps!
So less views. What a shame. She is one of the best singers ever.
Well that stopped me in my tracks. Made me stop thinking. Made me feel instead. Wonderful.
I'm very impresses with British audience. silent in a good time while this artis sing

Absolutely hauntingly beautiful
My favorite music of her

Outer Banks brought me to this song and I'm in love the song just enhanced to sene more
A magical performance, a timeless and beautiful voice.
It is the flaws in her voice gives it a fragility and vulnerability which makes it so hypnotic.
She’s fabulous! Heard it on Ted Lasso and was mesmerized! Song simply draws anyone who’s ever experienced breakups in. Stunning.
she's Finalllly on the big stage!!!! So happy for herrr
Her voice and music is old school beautiful... comes straight from the soul. People don't make music like this anymore. Pure talent!!!

Have you ever heard Rebecca Ferguson sing before??
best part of the brits u can’t tell me any different
I was in the audience thinking how her voice is a perfect blend of Paloma Faith s and Adele s. She has very unique tone. Loving it
She reminds me of Billie Holiday. Just sublime♥️
@@@SereneColeman But she is unique!
Lucky you Alex. I’m jealous.
I felt like its part Billie Holiday and Norah Jones.
Someone must have said this - I hear the soul of Amy Winehouse holding her hand through every note-
I'm hearing Amy and billie holiday
Absolutely!! That same pain and rawness and subsequent beauty. The songwriting prowess/lyrics structure is also very Amy Winehouse!
