I have excuses for why I haven't been using my CNC. However, watching this video got me all excited about getting it going again! Thanks a million, Roger! Keep up the great work 👍🏽
Great video, as usual. May I suggest to make a video about how to clean the shavings and obtain the "final product"? As I know, the cleaning process can be time-consuming and highly subjectec to mistakes (if you are not an expert). It can be a really frustrati g experience for the beginners. Thanks for sharing your geat experience with the rest of the world!
what do you do to prevent cupping/warping once you unscrew the workpiece from the bed? especially when cutting so deep. I have experienced major cupping whenever I have tried to do anything like this which is pretty much impossible to rectify. you're advice would be much appreciated. also thanks for the videos you're a welsh of knowledge and a credit to the platform.
Cupping as you describe it is from wood that was improperly dried. The inside of the slab will be a higher moisture content than the outside; dried too quickly or for too short of a time. It’s commonly called case hardened lumber, and an easy was to test for it is to make a partial rip on a table saw. If the kerf closes, it is casehardened. TLDR: find a different lumber supplier if this is a consistent issue.
@@keithschuessler3435 From what I understand it is not only moisture content but internal pressure release from the unique grain structure of each piece of wood, unavoidable without resin stabilization
Once you set your x, y, and z axis' to zero, you do not have to set them again UNLESS you move the workpiece. Otherwise, you just set the tool height every time you change bits because you never place bits in the router/spindle at the same distance/height from the workpiece.
Are you using Mach 3? I have been following you for a couple of years and I am just now setting up my own CNC biz. Pretty excited about what we are going to be doing.
Hello from IRELAND again Roger mate.. I watched a video of yours where u bought the cheapest Circular saw in town and built a Tabke saw out of it and some pieces of Scrap pieces of wood. It was brilliant dude. I wish I had seen the video a few yrs ago to be able tohave a table saw of my own..That was brilliant my friend.. I cannot believe how good that narrow bull nose router bit is.. It's a very fine cutting bit tbf. The clean up it has just done on this piece is phenomenol.. Apologies for rabbiting on so much in this comment Roger mate but I'm very interested in CNC machines these days so I take every and any opportunity to pick the brains of any person who knows more about this subject than I ever could.. I'm really enjoying ur channel mate. It's full of very interesting videos for a newbie like myself to grasp hold of and learn from so thanks very much mate and HAPPY NEW YEAR TO U AND UR FAMILY.. Salute from Dublin, Ireland,.
Good day from the winter of Montana,USA. I don't understand how UA-cam puts up random videos...but I guess I have looked a time or two at CNC. I was drawn to this one, because I did an aluminum casting of a horse very similar to the ones in the video. I am interested in the possibility of getting started with a CNC machine. I took Machining classes in college when CNC was just being born. I too, am wondering what the name of the servo motor router is? I thought Mach3 was the router, but, I think that's a software?
@@rogerwebb9600 a sizeable outlay for those of us interested in getting into a thing like this for the first time, especially when needing to convince the wife that it's worth it haha. Would you have any recommendations of perhaps cheaper machines/bits that would still be decent for a beginner to get into?
Where would I be able to get info on purchasing one of these... love the work as I do 3D Base Relief work in ZBrush and own 5 3D printers but wood always looks better. Need one soon.

Hi Roger, I'm looking to buy a carving machine but is so confusing which is the right investment, my plan are to do artistic work like you show here, Any advice. Tks for you videos.
Hi, have a look at the Avid CNC benchtop-pro 2436, this is the CNC router I recommend. www.avidcnc.com/benchtop-pro-2436-2-x-3-cnc-machine-kit-p-462.html
Please get some apparatus to stabilize your video if you insist on hand holding the camera. Also, a cheap flashlight will do wonders to illuminate dark areas so that details are readily apparent. Otherwise, keep making your videos as I find them inspiring.

This is the second video I’ve seen and that rooster is always in the background going crazy 😂. Very nice closeup shots and music 👍🏻
The new videos * NO MORE ROOSTERS* ;-))
Would you try it on a nicer wood like jarrah?

This is very beautiful! Could you please answer which wood type did you use? It looks like pine, but it is very interesting for me/
How much would something like that cost for an oak mantel
Need a link to the cnc machine please

What brand/model is your new CNC machine?
The first time I’ve understood just what a CNC can do
Very good detail...nice 👍

Fusion360. Bit of a learning curve but by far the most versatile and you can get a free license if you're just a hobbyist.
I love you shows a pretty good you're very interesting variation awesome
How much does a cnc machine like this usually retail for?
$12,000+
