I didn’t like the way in which Ramsdale was treated, because Arteta essentially lied about “having two number 1’s”. Raya is fantastic and I’m glad we have him but Ramsdale should have been given more respect and more opportunities to play and get back into the first team.
He said what he needed to say in the press to protect his players. If he had come straight out and said 'ramsdale is no longer my number one, im only playing him in the cup games and if raya is injured' would have been worse. He's a decent shot stopper but has too many errors in him to be trusted at the top level. Saw this when England lost 4-0 at home to Hungary with him in goal too.
