Just a heads up you discussed nuclear powered drones and crazy enough the Americans designed one that could stay airborne for weeks irradiating the Russian country side and urban centers have to find the link for you
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Pluto
@messier82ac I recommend watermarking your vids, especially the end montage or someone’s likely gonna steal your content
"Although that would be a really funny weapon. get a drone, and put the crappiest, leaky nuclear reactor and fly it over another country..."
Messier's intrusive thoughts slowly winning.
litel plein gous BOOOOOOOOOOM
Man just reinvented Project Pluto😂
You could HEAR him smiling through that line. He’s perfect for the CIA
most humain Canadian military plan
No matter the circumstance, Messier WILL find a way to add a twin boom
Next up: twin mustang
I LOVE TWIN BOOM 🗣️🗣️‼️‼️💯🔥🔥🔥
Stealth twin boom?

I don’t blame him, ngl. Twin Booms are baller.
It's only a matter of time until M82 designs a whole flying city-state
Flying City? Isn't that just a ✨Federation Starfleet Galaxy class starship✨?
@@nsr-ints nah, bespin cloud city from star wars
Now the Federation would absolutely like something like this on their airship fleet
Definitely. Especially if it can be made without too much cost and not much, if any need for cordium.
As we know, the Cascadian/Federation War started due to Cascadian disagreement over the Federation using its cordium to fuel their war aims. Now without being too reliant on cordium that would greatly help with its supply goals and not have to tax periphery states for their cordium reserves.
Monarch breathing heavily at the opportunity to kill the Federations high command and destroy another airship while causing even further environmental destruction through radiation.
@@megumin4047 Did someone call me?
4:06 That was exactly what the Supersonic Low Altitude Missile (SLAM) designed for. The SLAM was a ram jet cruise missile powered by an unshielded nuclear reactor and armed with a payload delivery system of sixteen hydrogen bombs and a singular thermonuclear warhead, and since the missile would fly at an altitude of 250 metres the supersonic shock wave would simply kill you were it to fly over you. Oh, and it had enough fuel to circumvent the globe 4.5 times and was able to fly along a predefined course with predesignated targets.
I've heard of that, it was really interesting
In other words, a legitimate flying doomsday weapon.
However iirc, the radiation from missile was determined to be ineffective as a weapon, it's payload was far more effective
@@kingsnakke6888for some reason I agree that 16 hydrogen bombs are a pretty effective weapon, strange…
Was gonna say this!
That nuclear crop duster thing you mentioned was actually almost built with Project Pluto, which utilized a nuclear ramjet that worked by placing the fuel rods- a series of many pencil sized fuel assemblies- in the combustion chamber exposed directly to air. They tested the engine and found that it was great at producing thrust, but the fuel assemblies would degrade and leak out through the exhaust as it ran, irradiating whatever it was flying over. Considering it was intended to also be delivering several thermonuclear bombs, that may seem like a comparatively minor concern, but it, along with the automated nature of the device where partially responsible for its cancelation.
SLAM - Slow, Low And Messy! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supersonic_Low_Altitude_Missile
Epic. Please don't stop making gargantuan aircraft, I love it.
Perhaps, it would be able to land on water? Even though it weighs over 30,000 tons, a fuselage of that size would have more than enough buoyancy. The defence systems on the bottom of the aircraft could retract inside for landing.
Only way it would be feasible, any mass relay system would be the first target of any nuclear strike, the ability to either hit and kill a nations leadership or at least trap them on the nuclear hellscape of the surface is to tempting an strategic target to ignore
Not only is this your most impressive build yet, but those shots of the VLS launches and Countermeasure deployments were incredible, just a *really* good cinematic all round.
Incredibly jealous of your build skills in Flyout
Waaaa I can't wait for flyout to come out I wanna do this stiff too!
You will never be a real woman.
I CANNOT wait for this thing to be available to play 🤩
Your nuclear drone was a real concept. The US had ideas for a Nuclear powered nuclear missile that could stay in the air for weeks during times of tension. Since it was unmanned and would be flying low over enemy territory they didn't plan to have shielding
the design reminds me of a Littoria class airship from Project Wingman, so I absolutely love it. great job like usual!
Dont give him ideas about those amazing airships!, His pc will blow up
Messier 82 is just Gründer Industries from Ace Combat with extra steps.
Structural engineers would cry seeing this
Oh boi that cinemtatic at the end was glorious. Especially the lights turning on in sync with the music!
At this rate we are slowly but surely transitioning into the Strangereal Universe.
We have the ark bird, then the arsenal bird, and now this thing THE FUCK BIRD (yes that’s what I’m calling it despite whatever he named it)
4:06 What is crazy is this bit is describing an actual concept. A nuclear powered cruise missile drone called project SLAM or "Supersonic Low Altitude Missile", it was going to use a nuclear ramjet, but basically scientists working on it thought it would be fairly impractical for a bunch of reasons, not the least of which being with only a few modifications to the engine you could turn the entire drone into a terrifying dirty bomb that could fly around for months and essentially spray entire regions with radioactive fission by-products. Also it was meant to fly at Mach 3 100 ft off the ground, the shockwaves alone would do terrible damage to buildings and homes over any territory it overflew. BUT, this is how we got terrain following radar, as it was designed *for* this project initially.
Notice how he was originally going for a regular tail, then changed his mind to a twin boom? Classic Messier
"Now you get to see me shamelessly steal items from Hotdogs cockpits"
Mimicry is the highest form of flattery, y'know.
Very nice box-wing design!
hey messier thanks for not cussing and being kid friendly i hope you stay like this please do it makes it more enjoyable
Dude built the final boss of Ace Combat 8
Absolute legend
imagine gight with them with an spitfire
I have a suggestion, you could do a series where you recreate absurd aircraft like the Antanov A-40. Could be fun.
you know its a good day when messier uploads
I feel like you underestimate how many people would be on this flying behemoth. A super carrier holds upwards of 5,000 personal. This ship would be able to comfortably house that many and then some.
I guess an alternative to a giant catapult launcher for this plane would be to build it as a flying boat. Launching it from the water would allow you to distribute the weight, wouldn't require you to build a giant runway or catapult structure, it would be safe from being destroyed by said nuclear war, and after the war, the world's oceans would give you plenty of un-bombed places to land.
Not to mention, if you're ever going to have a meltdown, the sea is one of the best places you can be, with limitless coolant all around you, that functions as great radiation shielding if the reactor melts through the floor and sinks!
You can synthesize chemical fuels out of the air using a nuclear reactor, which means you would have this to be a flying refinery with an infinite supply of fuel (ammonia from the air)
add a Fulton surface-to-air recovery system and wings that people can go in through and a design that allows engine repairs in flight, and you have a plane that can not only exist indefinitely in the air it can sustain an entire fleet of aircraft,
in a post-apocalyptic scenario, this thing can be the base of a group of sky raiders with infinite range that no country can defeat as all they need to do is occasionally send down smaller crafts down to set up supply drops and then bail for years from the region
they plane could last years
Not only that you could also cultivate algae using fiber optics mounted on the outside and perform electrolysis with the electricity, meaning you could grow your own food and fuel for simple rockets, that you could also grow using some sort of simple cultivated bio-plastic from said algae
“Radiation crop duster” that one actually made me laugh also one far fetched idea would for a mega planes existence could be like a luxury cruise ship but in the sky
TWIN BOOM FOREVER
This is savior-1 we have achieved cruise altitude, take-off is a success. Reactor readings nominal, proceeding to circle for supply and rearmament over.
I swear, this man talks about his prop punk idea like it's Raid Shadow Legends, and I low-key love it, plus it's interesting anyway, so yeah lol
Holly Molly! It would be a living hell fighting this as a Boss in an Ace Combat game... 😬
Damn, this even excedes the LC1002(sic) wing span. 😮
“Good, you came. How obedient of you. Fell the Cradles. All of them. Millions will die. Exciting, don't you think?”
What would also fit within this concept are the huge transport wings from Homeworld Deserts of Kharak.
It’s a beautiful design if you ask me. But it will probably fly god awefull. Haha
Omg yes.
Those things nearly dwarfed the command carriers in terms of scale, and the command carriers themselves probably would’ve dwarfed irl supercarriers in scale.
With the sheer size of this thing, you could probably have a full on hydroponics farm inside to feed the people.
Fit this with the Aegis Radar system together with the complement of CIWIS and VLS systems, it'll be a flying Arleigh Burke Class Destroyer.
If the Arsenal Bird is an airborne CVN
This will be the airborne DDG
This thing wont be able to land anywhere without a dedicated landing strip. You should make something like this but as a flying boat. Theres more than enough space on the sea for something like this.
The V.L.S Missile Launching System can be stupid deadly, it has less moving parts, fires more than the H.L.S, and can be more efficient, but has a long reloading period
That there were actual projects to make open cycle, unshielded, nuclear-powered cruise missiles, is a very scary prospect. Darn... during the height of the atomic age, there were no limits.
It's called slam. And they even made the engines
@@gaviantxc8213 Supersonic Low Altitude Missile (SLAM) was one of them. The concept has actually been revived in Russia with 9M730 Burevestnik. They also have nuclear-powered torpedoes in development. The scary thing about that is of course that is relatively new projects.
I think there have been a few more concepts like that in the past. But I can not remember the name of them. But I have a vague recollection that USSR did study the problem. However, I might be mixing it up with the modern Burevestnik.
I think this is one of the few aircraft that would actually benefit from having a twin boom, because having only one vertical stabilizer would not give it enough maneuverability to effectively use YAW
the nuclear crop duster was actually planed in project pluto but was cancelled because the us was afraid the ussr might also make one
This looks like something straight out of gundam and i absolutely LOVE it! The defence turrets look absolutely awsome
Imagine some Prop Punk recruit joining the Air Force wanting to fly experimental aircraft and then getting assigned to this thing. Blud can barely see the runway, and that thing is a mountain of steel powered by hopes and dreams.
This kind of aircraft would work best as a dedicated seaplane or sea-faring aircraft since crashing it on land would make it near impossible to fully repair and resupply in even the best post-nuclear scenario, and the mass relay would no doubt be nuclear priority #1 for any attacking countries. A direct or nearby strike from a nuclear-tipped cruise missile could also pose a huge threat to the aircraft unless it has sufficient EMP protection systems onboard.
So basically the Cradles/Arks of Humanity from Armored Core? Except it holds a thousand people instead 8.16 million.
Yeah, basically
The end design is heavily reminiscent of the cruisers from Project Wingman and I love it. It's really nice to see not only a beautifully designed war crime bunker plane but also be vindicated that one my favourite plane games' designs are semi realistic. Great video as always, I love hearing the thought process during the design.
There was a concept of a supersonic cruise missile that would be powered by a nuclear reactor. It was called a SLAM, but was ultimately deemed unnecessary when ICBM technology improved and MIRVs were invented.
There are two types of Flyout players:
1. I added weight near the center of the airship to model the added weight required for the radiation shielding for the nuclear reactor.
2. I added weight to the front of the aircraft to prevent it from flipping over immediately upon takeoff and swooped the wings back because it looks cool.
I absolutely love the amount of detail that goes into these builds. I always excited to hear your reasoning for the design.
But with Zeppelins such a scale DOES exist for like 2 years, from 1914 to 1916, the German Empire used Zeppelins for recon missions and strategic Bombing Raids, mostly against Britain, until the UK used incendiary rounds, and flying battleships has a real example, that being a Blohm&Voss BV-238, if a large Flying Battleship exists, it needs to have guns, and the S.S.T.L launcher was for the S.S.T.L Space Craft so if you want to land, you might need to have NO landing gear so you could stop quickly
The moment you said the weight of the eiffel tower made me think of what a wonder the typhoon class submarine is
just need force fields and some really "nerfed" drones
Nah, railguns and SAMs
@@Artem4egg_Why not all of the above?

another analogy to the weight of this behemoth is that it is just 2,000 tons lighter than the famous ocean liner Lusitania.
Easily some of the most entertaining content I've seen on this platform. Better version of Kerbal Space Program + easier to make gigantic creations = best game ever. Can't wait for it to come out.
It’s fun to think about aircraft like this. The wings should be easily accessible in the event of an engine failure or a jam in the wing mounted CIWS systems, like he said, but I think if I were to design a platform for this sort of mission, it would be a massive flying wing. You lose the fuselage drag, can incorporate turbines and reactors into the wings for the best possible c/g, and you don’t lose cabin space for passengers/VIPs. With 2 reactors running, you could ideally fly for 10-15 years without needing to land, as long as you have the food, water, ammunition, and spare parts and other supplies to do so
now I want to see this be a movie. A post apocalyptic world where the only people left alive are in these gargantuan aircraft armed to the teeth. I can already see the climax where two or more of these things go at it in the middle of a massive dogfight.
it wouldnt be a dogfight as it would a fight between 2 battleships of ww2... with as massive as these behemoths would be, they wouldnt have the maneuverability to "dogfight"
I like it, call it Between Air and Water.
since this particular Flying City mostly cycles over the oceans and rarely sees land to avoid automated defenses or malicious natives
@@k-boi-501 Yah. I was more thinking it would second as a carrier dropping out dozens of fighters. with smoke trails and jets flying everywhere and these things being at the center of it all. which is why I called it a dog fight, I should have been more specific as no one can read my mind.
Imagine if an artist painted an entire cross section/xray blueprint thingy to show all the internals
I think it's better to make it function similar to the airships from project wingman which is being giant flying boat that takes off and land on water, which means it'll also be much cheaper to operate it
Honestly, this thing could also be a very good airborne ICBM silo. Or lunch for cruise missiles. Or an airborne aegis like system. Something that while you’re not going to have a lot of them will be very useful where you do have them.
Regarding taking off and landing, you could make it a seaplane.
Supersonic nuclear kamikaze drone sounds like an amazing investment of tax dollars.
Looks Like Messer's been playing ace combat 6 and project wingman again and i fully support it lol 😆
5:54 that means that the enemy can't shoot it down because you are taking the civilian population as a hostage
at first i really thought "there's no way those missiles and guns work"
and then the montage happened, god that was so cool
at 4:04, Project slam/pluto comes to mind
3:55, uh, you mention a weapon that spews nuclear fallout over a wide area, uh, I recommend looking into SLAM then, it was a nuclear powered open cycle missile. With a nuke on it. Supersonic Low Altitude Missile was fun.
@@P47CH3Z No, you'd want to shoot it down, because otherwise your whole countryside is irradiated.
@@P47CH3Z Seems bout right, tis why it got cancelled.
this thing as a 3D model replacement in Project Wingman would go so hard. your videos are so cool to watch
There's tons of references to Ace Combat in here but this is almost exactly a cradle from Armored Core For Answer.
Also there are too many games with the initials AC.
The entire aircraft needs to have armor, cockpit? Armored, Fuelsolauge? Armored, engines and Reactor? Armored, every single millimeter of the Flying Bunker? *ARMOR THE LIVING FUCK OUT OF IT!*
Looks like an airship straight from Project Wingman.
Yep lmao
*Littoria class intensifies*
I highly suggest you watch yukikaze it's a anime a very very very good one and it has amazing designs that have influenced Ace combat ! You should also look at sky crawlers it is an animated movie where propeller planes are still prevalent into the Cold war era! I think you should seriously check out these it will give you some design ideas and I think that you will enjoy them!
I also think that you should try playing armored core for answer and armored core 5 it would give you some design cues as very similar large battleship like aircraft /survival aircraft exist in those games!! Very similar to this !
For reference, 31 thousand tons is in the range of a 2nd or 3rd generation interwar seagoing battleship, or a mid to late ww2 fleet aircraft carrier.
This is a touch on the mental side. Holy cow!
3:55 this is actually a thing. Project pluto with the SLAM missile, tested in 1954. An absolute unit of a missile that uses an UNSHIELDED NUCLEAR REACTOR for thrust, basically using the nuclear energy to heat up the air for propulsion. It would fly 500 feet off the ground at mach 3, instantly killing nearby victims with the shockwave alone.
It would also irradiate anything it flew over and had a range of 113,000 miles (no there isint an extra zero) and fly for months straight.
if that wasn't enough, it could carry 16, 10 megaton nuclear warheads. (The largest nuke America has tested being 15 megatons, and this thing could carry over 10 times the amount of megatons)
It was cancelled for being too destructive
This is just massive
When messier uploads, we bout start making some reservations for ourselves 🔥🔥
you know its good when the end product is making him lag
Now that I think about it this kind of snowpiercer but in the sky
"Strider 1, this is AWACS 'Sky Keeper', Command needs you to escort the Sky Ark safely to the neutral space above Yuktobania. Expect to be intercepted by Drones, and keep an eye out for Sol Squadron. Unfortunately we need the rest of your squadron for mission elsewhere, so its just going to be you and Count. The Sky Ark has an array of weapon systems, but it won't be able to fend of a full wave of drones, or aces like Sol Squadron, so make sure you stay close. Good luck."
I think another thing to note about potential in-flight engine maintenance would be that an aircraft like this would likely have separate controls for each engine and the ability to shut them off and close them off individually like you said. With the ten engine setup, even though it wasn't your first choice, it does help with redundancy by allowing a much smaller portion of the total engine power to be powered down at a time if a maintenance crew is moving from engine to engine. Instead of losing 25% of thrust at a time for maintenance, they could drop 10% of the thrust by shutting off one engine for maintenance. Even if they wanted to maintain two engines at once on a ten engine setup, they would still have less thrust loss and be able to balance the thrust by shutting down the same number of engines on each wing while for even more of the thrust lost, a four engine setup would have unequal thrust and have to run one engine harder than the others to compensate.
Don't know if anyone mentioned this yet, but in the game Armored Core: For Answer, flying cities, somewhat similar to your design, exist for a similar purpose.
In AC:FA (essentially), due to continuous, nuclear mecha based global warfare, earth's surface is uninhabitable, forcing half of humanity underground, and the other half onboard titanic, several kilometre wide flying colonies called "Cradles".
They are more wide than long, are layered in design, operate at 7,000m of altitude, where the pollution can't reach them (*yet*), housing about 4 to 20 million people each, and fly in formations of up to 5 Cradles. And can only stay in the air because of ground installations that transmit power through microwaves up at the Cradles. A process that only generates more pollution on the surface, which climbs higher and higher into the atmosphere. (Though they also have back-up fuel cells for emergency landings.)
They are more of a narrative background tool, but the primary conflict in the game does concern itself with how this status que is unsustainable.
That, or you go along with "Old King" and just kill half of humanity, because it's funny, I guess.
Here's a link to the fandom wiki for some pictures: armoredcore.fandom.com/wiki/Cradles
Love your videos. Very fascinating. I suppose the UA-cam algorithm, even in current year, manages to produce the occasional hit. Have a nice day.
Swing the sizes of standard missiles compared to this behemoth, I get the feeling you’re gonna need at least a barrage of cruise missiles to take this thing out of the sky
"Sir, it's here! What do we do?"
"Pray."
Project Pluto. A hypersonic nuclear cruise missile/bomber thing powered by an open cycle nuclear ram jet. It would fly around deploying nukes, then when it ran out it would use its own warhead to blow more stuff up.
Correction: it was only Mach 3
About your Leaky reactor drone weapon, look up Project Pluto and SLAM. It's pretty much exactly what you describe, plus the addition of 16 10mt nuclear bombs.
Only thing I wish I saw more was the internals being built similar to how you see large airships with a wall behind the pilots of just an array assigned to each radar and like seats for 10 radar ops to monitor them LOL
literal MADMAN creates a NUCLEAR-POWERED flying BATTLESHIP capable of staying on the AIR for CENTURIES even in NUCLEAR WAR
Hah, that's great! I think realistically, the best use for a very large aircraft would be in place of container ships, for the specific purpose of carrying food products that are perishable and are worth the additional cost for time-savings
i thought this thing was the size of his other aircraft carrier. then i say the missile pods and went "oh its a bit bigger". then he said it had a wing span of over a kilometer. then i was like "OK WTF"
Just letting you know there’s a plane called the NB-36H that could carry the XF-35 goblin a parasite fighter and was fitted with lead walls to stop radiation form entering the cockpit for as it held a nuclear reactor on board however it was quickly abandoned due to the fact that the crew didn’t really like being confined in to a small led box of which if it were to crash they wouldn’t have any chance of survival
Dude why are these edits SO FUGGIN INTERESTING!?!? I mean, I'm not a video game guy like, at all. I'm a master Yamaha mechanic and automotive fabricator. It's just insane to me how playing this game id probably be bored in 20 minutes. Watching this man do his thing, there's not enough content. It's a miracle my wife even likes me, if I don't understand myself I sure AF don't understand her. It's probably the length and width of my fuselage that keeps her happy. It might be short, but it sure is skinny!!! 😂😂😂
One suggestion, any way you could add a bit more content when ur first starting to fly the chingaderis? I'd love to hear a little frustration and maybe some vulgar vocabulary in frustration. That kind of stuff makes me laugh my ass off. Thanks man.
For takeoff and landing of such a chonky boy it would probably be easier to develope it into a sea plane and launch it from the ocean or an inland sea than to built miles and miles of runway and tracks
5:44 Planes are easier to shoot down, but also water is a great material for absorbing radiation. It takes only about 6 meters of water depth to lower radiation levels to below background.
A sunk nuclear aircraft carrier would probably cause less ecological issues than a sunk diesel carrier of the same size. That doesn't work for aircraft at all.
Aerial restocking would be crazy, also if that is a radar in the nose that itself could probably start a nuclear war
So a vault from fallout but in the sky...
I'll take 12
One of the old devs for Fallout said that the purpose of the Vault program was to test the viability of constructing a colony ship, so this is conceptually pretty close
There is actually one Russian nuclear cruise missile that uses nuclear engine. The true Doomsday Stick.
I'm addicted to Messier 82, i can't stop watching.
This is amazing but I do have a couple of recommendations. Yes, it is a combat warship, but I would recommend having windows around the ship seeing as it is planned to house people. I would also recommend having a mini-cockpit at the bottom of the front to help with landing and takeoff.
I'm beginning to think the Helicarrier wasn't so bad
I have a question… what kind of pc power do you need to run fly out, and is there a set price for the game? All in all great video, you’re editing has gotten so much better… good job can’t wait to see how your channel grows
"[...] the Geneva convention exists and that is very very messed up"
yeah I think it's ridiculous too, we should just get rid of them and go wild on the battlefield
Dude you are an engineer, you know that?
Show your ideas to the world!!!
