I chuckle every time a knife reviewer talks about the pocket clip hot spot, which I've never had a problem with on any of my knives. Now the pen's clip has a hot spot, haha. But seriously, that is a nice pen, I was thinking of getting one down the road and it uses my favorite refill.
When you use like thousands of knives you notice how some are more comfortable than others and you start to realize why...Its all depends on what knives people use, how they use them, how long they use them and how their hands are shaped...No one likes something thats uncomfortable but some people dont realize its uncomfortable until they use something comfortable haha...Ill say if you think your care is fast at 100 MPH you haven't been in a racecar doing 200...

If you’ve ever used a knife hard where you have to really grip the handle and bear down like saying carving wood for example, you’ll notice hotspots real quick but most people don’t use their knives for anything other than light Edc tasks and might not even notice. Nothing wrong with that though.
when lebding the pen to a coworker id warn people not to close the lever on their finger but often i wouldnt be able to finish the sentence before they shut the pen on their knuckle.

I have the same pen. Mine unfortunately has the wobble/ loose fit at the end when writing.
I love Microtech and their knives but your review is spot on. They missed the mark on the pen, I should have gotten the beard comb.
I've always wondered about this pen, particularly since they have some cool colors. I think closer around the $100 mark, these would sell way more. I wouldn't mind getting one in a trade just to have the mechanism. Thanks for sharing!
I got one of these when i was a child. Made from plastic back then.
Me too and I loved it lol they kept braking. So when I saw this it instantly brought me back and thats why I bought one. Is it the most practical design ever? No but its solid and cool. Worth the price? Ehh depends on your standards. I like it for the simple throwback feels it gives me. I even tried going to machinests to make one years ago but they all said it was dumb and wee look who is making money off it now lol
I think you didn't mention the biggest problem with this pen. The lever arm is under spring tension while open, so you just need a little nudge to make it snap closed, and it's not a pleasant feeling when it slams into your finger. I hold the pen same as you, the lever facing away from my hand. In that position, it's so tempting to fidget by letting the lever snap closed onto your index finger and then flicking it back open with your thumb. But the punishment inflicted on the index finger ruins the fun. Whether fidgeting or not, that lever will get you every now and again. Also, it's too heavy for an EDC pen. Back in the box it went... An aluminum or CF version with a weaker lever spring would probably be awesome.
Yeah I write closer to the bottom of the pen as well. I couldn't imagine having that much distance. I'd just get a normal bolt action pen. Just seems like too much idk...

Wow, i especially like the part where they ingeniously call it a "siphon" even tho it actually does about zero siphoning, bcuz its not actually a siphon, *cuz its a pen* thats being reviewed by this guy who im pretty sure reviews knives altho it technically does look like a pocket knife so i guess that counts for something. man today sucks
*_UPDATE:_* it does siphon, it siphons about 160 buckaroos from your wallet. but only if u order 1. (worth it IMHO, quality is topest notchest)

I am a pen guy...and i think its a cool pen. No chance I'm paying a buck 60. My favorite in my collection is probably the boker bolt action.
I just got one of these. I agree with this review - it's an overwhelming "meh". It's a neat fidget toy, but a poor pen.
I would recommend a Zebra Sharbo X (with Uniball JetStream refills) as the best pen for actual use or the Fisher Space Pen for the best pant pocket or wallet carry.

Hey Jeff, there is something seriously wrong with this new camera. The 4K footage its putting out looks worse at 4K than your old 1080P videos. This 4K camera just creates a fuzzy blurry mess of an image. Watch the pattern on the backround, it shows off the fuzzing really obviously. Maybe try using the new camera to shoot 1080P?
the thign is if it was that bad more people would comment about it, Im sorry your screen isnt showing it well but mines awesome and my 4k shows it very well, I cna only really go by what the masses say...I am playing around with lighting and settings still and will get a new mic as well eventually
@@cutlerylover I just wrote up a long comments and then it occured to me to check if you've uploaded anything in sunlight and you have, that video looks gorgeous. Maybe try standing some flashlights up off camera and bouncing light off your ceiling to where you're filming?

It’s an interesting pen and the review was helpful but I’ll probably not be getting a siphon lol. I have a few bolt action pens and tend to like that style the best. I tried a carbon fiber Bastion and while it’s nice for the money found it to be a little too heavy and think the CF is just a sticker actually. had a brass bolt action pen just a generic one off eBay and had the same issue, a little too heavy and ended up gifting it to a buddy who likes it. Ending up with an aluminum version and the titanium version of that one and I use the Ti one every day at my desk which takes Fisher space pen refills and it was only about 25 bucks! I think I would like to try a little nicer one maybe a Ti scribe or tactile turn bolt action next. When you do a decent amount of writing throughout the day it’s nice to have a smooth writing high quality pen with a unique look and preferably a little fidget factor.

Half the stuff I do is simply because its cool and that pen is cool. You looking for practical buy a 20 pack for a couple bucks. Nobody needs a fancy pen its all about being cool. The justification you reviewers try to do is hilarious. You can't justify hundreds of dollars for a pen with comfort or it writes good. You justify it by whether its cool or not.

Yeah, It's just a normal ballpoint pen nothing special except the price n precision machining... n high end pen should have a calligraphy tip on it. Isn't it about being elegant and eccentric anyways. Just not worth it to me either.

160 bucks? The lever design has been around since the 1800s. It became obsolete because of the swing out action. Of all people, microtech should know this theory. OTF knives... why go to a folding system that does not represent their other line of products… again… 160 bucks!
