Love it or hate it, it’s special! I still have my bottle from the 90s. Back then the malls actually seemed a magical around Christmas time and I remember being so intrigued by the bottle.
A colleague of mine wore Angel - and loads of it - fro the day it was released. I remember being both mesmerized and appalled by it. Mesmerized because it was such a shape shifter, appalled because it was so incredibly loud!!! And that's saying something, because I myself was used to wearing Poison and Vol de Nuit......not exactly demure either!!! The thing was she could really pull it off, she was such a feisty and ebullient young lady, Angel really suited her. I'm glad it's still around and smelling it always instantly transports me to 1990's Paris. Now Worths Dans la Nuit was another sugar coated gourmand avant-la-lettre.... You're the best, thank you for posting this lovely tribute! Will you ever review Scherrer for us?
I use Angel since 1995 and have nearly 1000 bottles from Angel. Yes, its not a typo. I collect them, I think, Angel Bottles are the most beautiful and creative bottles in the last years (and so many different star bottles coming to us in the last 30 years from Angel). In the last years, I only use the 1994 and 1995 Version of the Extrait, its just amazing and I have some Backups.
I just got this recently and the initial spray was quite strong, but when it settled down, it softened up and it's soothing and seemed to fit the description of an angel. It's otherworldly much like Alien. Perfect for winter with the notes in it.
As you discussed in the video, Angel has a strong personality which makes it both adored and reviled. Currently we aim for being univerally liked/acceptable which means boring and conformist, not just in perfume but in everything from fashion, to home decor, to our thoughts and opinions. Angel is a great perfume I do not wear but I admire. I recently picked up Coco Mademoiselle pearly body gel because I liked the sparkles. It is my most complimented perfume by far. Conformity is socially reinforced.
Angel is the very first gourmand, well thought out and considered. I was in the Florida Mall in 1994 I could not work out whether I liked it or not, I bought it the next day as they didn’t have it in the UK….. it still holds dear to my heart ! It has been a victim of its own success however!
@@Persolaise they’re both so unique and intoxicating to me. Regardless of the formula! Reformulation is inevitable so I embrace it. They both are still undoubtedly Angel & still last forever on me
I still remember the exact moment I first smelled Angel circa 2000. A patron came into my library wearing it and I chased her down to find out what it was. I still remember her face. I bought my own bottle the next day. I rarely wear it these days but I will always own a bottle.
It’s so interesting that you would have that association with Coco Noir, because I remember the first time I smelled Coromandel my first association was Angel. But then Coco Noir and Coromandel do have a resemblance to my nose.
I love Kashmir Number one perfume is angel or angel muse. Just bought a bottle today $200. It’s gotten really expensive but it’s worth it and I’m in Canada.
The “apricot” top note I get from the Angel Le Parfum de Cuir is lovely, and I agree with those who feel the leather note reminds of a Mugler couture piece.
I have a bottle from the 90s, it still smells beautiful. I have the Le Goút Du Parfum - The Taste Of Fragrance too, it is the Original Angel but enriched with pure Coco Powder. I’m scared to use it as it’s such a beautiful scent. I adore them all!
How great to see that Angel is still loved! Somehow I don't wear it very often, but I really love to smell it on others walking by. And I am lucky to own a bottle of the first batch, and guess what, it still smells fantastic and out of this world, but more like current version of Angel Muse. Wintry greeting ❄🎄⛄
This is an excellent point. I seem to remember the Osmotheque scent I mentioned had a marked caramelised/syrup note, but yes, the distinction you make is important. Thanks for writing.
I bought it when it first came out on a trip to London and it really did feel like something I have never smelled before . I loved it then and wore to death for a good while . I occasionally wear muse still but can’t stomach Angel now . Loved A men and really liked innocent too but not Alien or womanity .
I remembered, many years ago, my mom had some form of Angel in a strange bottle, like a tall can, that I absolutely hated, sickly sweet fruity weirdness (now I know it was the Hair Mist version, and it was incredibly strong)... I went to smell it again this year since taste and smells change, and yep, still feel the same 😅 I'll stick to my beloved Alien 💝
Persolaise, I know you are busy but I was curious if you've smelt the new EdP and EdT formulations sold at Sephora/Ulta/Boots now? They have the star bottle that has the build in stand in the glass. I smelt them recently and the EdT doesn't smell like Angel at all! The EdP is still Angel...ish but definitely muted and not as heavy. Just my thoughts, I'd love to hear yours. As always cheers and love your videos/livestreams
They discontinued the 2011 EDT, the comet bottle :( it was replaced in 2019 and now comes in same bottle as the original Angel. Unfortunately, L’Oréal now produce Mugler fragrances, they have destroyed the original Angel, A*Men, Alien and Womanity… devastating!
Angel is also known because the Thierry Mugler sued in court Molinard "When it was launched in 1992, this avant-garde fragrance - created on the basis of the designer's olfactory memories -.......;;. If some (like a Swiss watch company) have never been worried, the Grasse house Molinard, with its perfume Nirmala, has been accused of plagiarism. The Thierry Mugler Parfums company filed a complaint against it in 1993" The have reached an agreement but I must confess that I preferred the Molinard version!!!!!!
Ah, Angel. This was my signature when it came out. Couldn’t wear it now but so many memories! I agree, this was groundbreaking and so different when it came out. Anything but bland!
Love it or hate it, it’s special! I still have my bottle from the 90s. Back then the malls actually seemed a magical around Christmas time and I remember being so intrigued by the bottle.
Yes, it’s quite a unique piece of work.
I am 57 years old and I’ve been wearing Angel since it came out in 1992… I still wear it till this very day. In fact, I just sprayed some on.
A true fan!

Thank you so much for writing.
I'd have to get some drops of Scherrer first.

Wow, I’d love to see a photo of your collection. And I’m impressed that you like the extrait best.
Thanks for watching.
Can I ask where do you get those 94 and 95 versions from?
I just got this recently and the initial spray was quite strong, but when it settled down, it softened up and it's soothing and seemed to fit the description of an angel. It's otherworldly much like Alien. Perfect for winter with the notes in it.
Yes, it does work well in the cold.
Thanks for watching.
Oh and way ahead of its time!

I totally agree with you, Lia. Thanks for watching.
well said!

My forever signature! Not one day passes where I don’t have Angel or A*Men on 🌌💙
Oh wow -- that's amazing. What do you make of the current versions?

@@seanlelie1520 This is great to read -- thank you.
Angel turned 30! Wow. I've always loved Angel💙
Time flies, eh?
September 1998, walked into Harrods, Angel hit me when I walked in the door. Instant love.
Gosh, what a wonderful memory.
Thanks for watching.
Angel was my signature during the late 90s into the 2000s. I also wore Innocent.
Wonderful.
Many thanks for watching.
I still remember the exact moment I first smelled Angel circa 2000. A patron came into my library wearing it and I chased her down to find out what it was. I still remember her face. I bought my own bottle the next day. I rarely wear it these days but I will always own a bottle.
Gosh, that was quite a reaction.
Thanks for watching.
It’s so interesting that you would have that association with Coco Noir, because I remember the first time I smelled Coromandel my first association was Angel. But then Coco Noir and Coromandel do have a resemblance to my nose.
Yes, I’d be inclined to agree.
Thanks very much for watching.

Thanks very much indeed for watching.

Treasure them all!
That’s the Angel I adore! ❤Unfortunately, I’m not able to wear the Angel produced now 😢
I never smelled the leather flanker, this is new to me. I have smelled Eau de Star, Étoile d'Hiver, and Liquor.
The leather range was pretty good.
There’s been band in ’90 - „NO ANGELS” 😊🙈😂
i will live it like this.
Liked your comment about the nuvorish aspect of it, totally agree.
Thanks for watching.
I liked the a men flankers pure malt pure tonka pure coffee etc sad they have been discontinued
Yes, some of those flankers were excellent.
How great to see that Angel is still loved! Somehow I don't wear it very often, but I really love to smell it on others walking by. Ah, that’s fascinating about the similarity with Angel Muse. Thank you.
Fruity and gourmand are different categorizations I guess. Fruits were always used in perfumes.... but caramel, candy or desserts were not.
This is an excellent point. I seem to remember the Osmotheque scent I mentioned had a marked caramelised/syrup note, but yes, the distinction you make is important.

Yes, it’s very seriously polarising.
I’m stocked up on the vintage I darent try the latest version I might cry
Treasure that stock!
I love Angel and wear it often.
Excellent 😃

Ha! :-)
Well, Alien is pretty special too.
I enjoyed Aura too
Ah, good to know.
I’m a ga ga girl from day one. And Thirty years later I’m still a ga ga girl
Excellent!
I must try it. Thank you very much
Thanks for watching.

I haven't tried the most up-to-date version, but I really ought to.

Yes, that was quite a high-profile case, back in the day.

Haven’t smelled the extrait. It does sound super interesting. Also forgotten what A men smells like. Need to smell it again for the chillies 🌶
It was a flanker that had the chilli note 😉
I'm still waiting for an A*Men EDP 🤞🏻🤞🏻
I wonder if they’ll ever make one.
I don’t really know Angel. Very curious
It’s well worth seeking out.
Long live Angel 🌟💙
Yes!
Incredibly sad that they changed the formulation, now it just smells generic. Does not have the heart of Angel!
Oh dear. I’m worried about smelling the current version now.
Ah, Angel. This was my signature when it came out. Couldn’t wear it now but so many memories!
I agree, this was groundbreaking and so different when it came out. Anything but bland!
Oh, bland is the last word you could use to describe it.
Thanks for watching.
Hey dude!!
That bottle of angel you have there, smell the same as the other bottles of angel?
Yes it is. Many thanks for watching.
