I love how Jon's description of Mayor Bob's backstory means that Mayor Bob didnt even vote for himself for Mayor.
It just proves how humble a man Mayor Bob is.
Nor his wife haha
Your not supposed to vote for yourself
@@kylelewis9163uh... no. Candidates always publicly vote for themselves. In any contest, if someone doesn't vote for themselves it doesn't lend credibility and confidence in their candidacy. If they don't vote for themselves, why should anyone else?
@@Vanek26LW That was one of Mayor Bob's many mistakes on the campaign trail.
Not only did Bob run for mayor (and fail) but he also applied to be Overseer of Vault 114 and was the leading candidate until he was beat out by Soup Can Harry.
And they gave him a spot in vault 111 out of pity.
Soup Can went in without pants, how the hell was Bob supposed to compete with that!

I know Survival Mode isn't supposed to have manual saves, but I might recommend finding a mod that reenables auto saves, at least. Sim Settlements 2 is so script intensive that there's a nonzero chance things will break in later dungeons and it'd benefit you to be able to reload from a doorway at the very least, instead of the last time you did a pitstop at your house.
And Autosaves don't overwrite sleep saves, so they can be ignored in the face of an actual death. Though Quicksave does that a bit more neatly than clogging up your save list with hundreds of saves.
I worried about that when he said he was doing Survival Mode (which I know ofc thats how he normally plays but with a mod like this I feel you definitely wanna save often as you suggested).
That smokeable cigarettes mod makes a save everytime you have a smoke, I really recommend it for survival.
@@revcanon5744 You recomend smoking cigarettes for suvival? Never heard that before. 🤭
@@HelFrostKaraI use it too and highly recommend it. It's great to grab a couple pack of smokes before heading out so I have a supply of saves if I need them.
29:40 The timing of the car exploding was perfect
I thought it was an edit it was so perfect
The exploding car is the true star of the series.
I thought Jon was being so silent because he was losing his shit off to the side.
This better be a series
Confirmed - a full Sim Settlements 2 Survival Mode series, covering the full 3-episode campaign.
@@ManyATrueNerd if you are lying, idk what ill do
*_This better be!_*_ It might sell me on using the mod. No matter how many heartattacks my PC has._
@@ManyATrueNerd Given how buggy chapter 3 of this mod was on release is (I was only able to get to the end by skipping half of the quests or fixing them with the console) I would suggest maybe waiting 6 to 12 months before making that series.
Also, don't skip any cinematics because that can cause an access violation crash which is not great in survival mode.
@romanw6636 agreed, however with the sheer amount of content in the first two chapters and with a one episode a week format by the time we reach Chapter 3 I could see it being far more stable. 😀
A word of warning about Sim Settlements 2. Do not build up Sanctuary, Red Rocket and Abernathy Farm as they are so close to each other that the game will try loading all three towns worth of SS2 content at once and will crash anytime you get close to them. It is recommended to only build up one of these three settlements using the SS2 mechanic.
Can't wait this to be a comment when Sim Systems inevitably comes out for Starfield but for planets.
This needs to be higher, Jon might brick his run otherwise lol.
the Danger triangle
@@ChronoSquare The Bethesmuda Triangle
It can happen in the base game and given how mutch he has played this game i would bet on him knowing about those 3 settlements causing problems. Also i have never seen the point of ever building at that red rocket due to how small the area is and how close to Sanctuary it is. U can smack a bed down and maybe use it as a main storage depot to dump stuff into but actually building there is a big "Why would i build here?"
I didn’t think I could watch another Fallout 4 series but here we go again!
Jon if you have any problems, you could probably ask Kinggath. He helped Gopher with his Sim Settlements' Fallout 4 VR playthough.
Algorithm Reply!
If you build a floating plot, you can still put a foundation from the appropriate tab in the Sim Settlements segment underneath it by the way. But using the ASAM settings to change the foundation is also possible of course.
For everyone who is going to say "Wow, I can't believe Mayor Bob could hold onto a grudge for over 200 years" just remember that those 200 years were all in the span of about 20 minutes for Mayor Bob.
I'd like to think Mayor Bob was very much conscious for those 200 years on ice and the only thing preventing him from going mad was the the thought that "he'll show 'em all!"
I feel the need to point out that this comment has 69 likes as of now
Jon, Scrapper is a GREAT perk for settlement building, and kind of underrated overall. It will help you get a lot of those resources you need for building.
Using scrapper left me baffled by the memetic lust for screws. Junk guns are abundant.
@@AgentTasmania I've completely overlooked scrapper on every playthrough I've done. Duct tape and screws never fail to get me a little excited. If objects didn't tend to clip into the ground or Kerbil off, I'd probably start a display of Wonderglue and desk fans.
I mean the way sims settlement works you don't really need the materials as industrial plots should produce more than enough materials
I love how you give us your dnd style characters backstory with all your series
Jon exaggerates in both an endearing and annoying fashion. The way he thought every other character in Oblivion might have a murder dungeon basement, sheesh...
Zero votes for Mayor Bob? So not only did his wife not vote for him, he didn't vote for himself. 🤣
I never expected Jon to cover this mod, but there's no one else I'd rather see cover it. Thank you Jon!
You took the words out of my mouth, Sir! 😁
I recommend "You and What Army?" if you plan on building up the minute men and "we are the minute men" so you get patrols from settlements to other settlements, and your Minute men level with you so they don't become weaker than raiders after level 20. Also there's a lot of sim settlement settlement layout packs, some are quite good and there's also tile sets so you can have more variety in the buildings and such, and can set themes so you can have a settlement using only institute styled buildings etc. Also there's a mod that adds 3x3 plots that I feel is basically essential if you really wanna feel your settlements grow BIG
oo, Thanks for the mod suggestions, always bugged me that most friendly NPCs were useless by the end of the game.
I played with this on my ultimate survival “No really this is my last play through” run and I LOVED it.
That whole intro is fantastic! Love Jon’s delivery of those lines
I love how Sim Settlements developed from being an improvement to the settlement-building system, and became one of the best questline mods for Fallout 4.
To the extent Bethesda is advertising for them
For real
Real shame that on Xbox installing every single chapter literally takes up the majority of your free space and pretty much leaves you with none lol
This has been one of my all time favorite mods! I Love how they made an entire story, that also intertwines with the other main plots.
SS2 is an EXTREMELY high effort mod, the team put so much work in to make this nearly seamlessly integrated in the base game and it's very impressive.
Calling Codsworth a d*ick for calling you Mister Bob, even though you most likely are the one who set up his identification preferences, is such Jon move
We need a mayor battle - Mayor Bob vs Mayor McDunough. There can only be one true mayor in Boston
So glad to see more and more channels doing playthroughs of this mod!
as someone who has been playing SS2 for a few years now, I can easily see this 'short series' running 50+ episodes. The scale of this mod and what the team has achieved is unimaginable. There are a few things I'd recommend adding to make this playable, especially in survival mode. As previously recommended, adding quicksave/autosave to deal with any bugs/glitches you will definitely be running into; interior navcut fix is essential especially later on in chapter 2 and 3; mod configuration menu for easier access to the settings instead of using the holotape; and finally (optionally) place everywhere is a great QOL building tool as clipping is very finnicky in vanilla fallout 4, especially when working with large objects like plots.
So excited to see you play this, Jon - it's one of my all time favourite mods and the story and characters are just so fun!

So happy to see you giving this some love, it's been a long journey for sim settlements
Nice video! I've been using the original sim settlements for years and really enjoy it. Also, I've been waiting for Sim Settlements 2 to get much needed bug fixes and finished with it's story before I tried it out, but thanks to you, I get to watch someone else do all the hard work testing it out. Can't wait to see the next video! Good job!
Fun Fact: the voice acting coach for Sim Settlements 2 also voiced Desmond in the FO4: Point Lookout mod.
Cool!
This honestly is my favourite mod in the history of Fallout 4. Kinggath and the team have done a stellar job
11:34 "... so I can keep up and don't miss anything obvious."
Just making a note of this as I'm sure these words will come to haunt Jon soon enough.
I've played the heck out out of Sim Settlements 1, and man oh man it was an awesome enhancement of the game. I've not played SS2 but I didn't know it had a whole new campaign!!! This is going to be an amazing series! 11:21 oh and I see you get the ASAM sensors right away but from what I remember you had to progress all the way to the Museum of Freedom in Concord and the sensors were in a desk on one of the upper floors, which from then on enabled the mod.
If it was possible to move your SS1 settlements into SS2, I'd download the mod in a heartbeat. As it is, I can't part with the town I've already built. Glad to see Jon playing this finally.
I look forward to trade relations between renowned Wasteland leaders: Mayor Bob and President Dave
They would either be the best of friends, or the most bitter of enemies
Cool, nice to see you cover this. :)
So excited for this series!
So stoked for this playthrough. Gotta get the lead out and actually play this mod's story in my playthrough so I dont get spoiled.
Sweet! Keep this going as a series Jon!
Not even Bob voted for himself for mayor
Look, he was busy campaigning that day, and remembered that there was something else he should do, but couldn't remember what it was.
Wait till Hancock hears about THAT story, lol
I’m never gonna be tired of fallout 4, I need to accept that
This is one of the best FO4 mods out there. Really makes the wasteland feel like a living society, together with making you feel like a true settlement developer. You get to watch as settlements develop based on what you build and provide, instead of doing a bunch of building and just seeing people muck about and complain while not really doing anything. I am glad to see the mod finally getting featured here!
One of my other personal favorites is the one that adds considerably more plant life to the map. I don't remember the exact name, but i think it's called "Overgrowth" or some such. Basically, after 200 years it will no longer be a wasteland, instead nature would take over the land (at least judging by how everything went in IRL fallout zones), and that mod depicts this perfectly. And it really does change the feel of the map, even if you know the layout really well.
Thank you Jon, I love enjoying the fallout world with such a good content creator.
Oh this is cool, I always wanted to mess with Sim Settlements but never quite figured out how it worked, this has already clarified a lot! And this looks like a fun series!
The mod author, kinggath, also has a large number of very in-depth guides on his UA-cam channel in case you need an expert opinion.
Woah. That's not something I ever expected. Awesome!
So happy I get more fallout from you! I need a fallout series on this channel at all times or I'll perish.
If we're getting another Fallout 4 series my life has purpose again, yay!
I can’t wait for more videos of this tbh
Thank you MATN. I was hoping to see you do a run with this mod. Most of the time I like to build my settlements myself but there are a lot of settlements that kinda suck and I hate working on. Tenpines Bluff comes to mind. With this mod I just plop down a plot or two and leave them be. I am always pleasantly surprised to see how the plots upgrade and evolve. It feels more organic. I can't wait to see you use some of the interior plots to build rooms in existing structures. Keep up the good work and the great content.
Always a delight to see some custom Fallout 4 let's gooo
The quality of this mod is insane i cant get over how well done the voice acting, audio quality and script is never mind the entirely new settlement building system.
Jon! I've wanted to suggest THIS IDEA so many times, but I didn't think you'd actually do it! This mod is the only reason I still play FO4. Here we go!
I absolutely love that Jon is finally checking out sim settlements
I'm so glad Jon is playing Sim Settlements 2. It's such a good mod. From concept to execution, it is well done across the board.
It's amazing to see what happens when Fallout content is made by competent people who love Fallout.
Thanks for something to watch during breakfast for the next few weeks!
I am already looking forward to this series!
@25:45 Great drama-fall from the painting, well done there.
Old Paul has a neck like Nick Foles!
❤❤❤❤❤ YES! YES! YES! A new Fallout 4 series. Ive watched all of your fallout content Jon... loved the YOLO playthrough and also a tale of two wastelands. You do such an AWESOME job and literally often make me actually LOL. my wife thinks im going nuts sometimes when she hears me. Im so pleased you came back again to FO4 as its literally been my favourite game since release and you have done some epic playthroughs. Thanks again buddy for all you do! 😊
This was awesome, hope you do more with this mod!
Sim Settlements 2 is an amazing effort by so many talented people.
I'm glad Jon is covering my favorite Fallout 4 mod.
I love the idea of a live steam where you choose a random settlement to build up with the mod. No story stuff obviously but just chill building. 😊
I went from YOLO to this and the way you are playing is so different!
This mod and it's 2 sequel episodes along with the Fens Sheriff Department and Fourville are the Fallout 4 equivalent to New Vegas's Newv Vegas bounties mod in "The game doesn't feel complete without them" category
Always awesome to see modders pulling off big projects with high quality.
"sound of the firefight must have lured the blasted thing out" (car blows up in the background) love it
29:39 Must've been the greatest lol I've had today
Wooooo! I can never get enough of MATN fallout.
i have been waiting for this play through.
Looks like an interesting mod, looking forward to the rest of the series!
If you're not familiar with the mod, you haven't seen anything yet. Its main questline is more compelling than looking for a son who's a jerk. It actually makes sense.
I love Bethesda games for moments like 29:39
Absolute chef's kiss timing
Been wanting to test out this mod, glad Jon can test it out for me 😂
Hey John, sorry i havent been by in a while. I wanted to wait to watch this because I i was a little burnt out on fallout (if you can believe that?). Happy to be back! Already loving this series
IM SO EXCITED FOR THIS! i just finished chapter 3 a bit ago and was thinking id love to see jon play this!
Jon playing Sim Settlements? Easiest click of my life :D
Very excited to see how you end up liking this! I was absolutely blown away by what these guys created and not even just the city building stuff.
Although yeah I would agree with some other commenters, a survival mode saving mod could be helpful... if you make a couple really big cities next to each other it can cause a ton of scripts to be running at the same time and may get some crashing. Just save often and don't make a 50 person megalopolis in the Abernathy, Red Rocket, Sanctuary triangle
Yeah, got burned out on Starfield and ended up downloading Fallout 4 on steam for the settlements, downloaded the Nora Lives mod as well and enjoying myself so much!🥳
Fallout Sunday continues and I am here for it!
Love this channel so much
Thank you! I never thought this mod was worth it, but I didn't realize how useful it actually is, and that there's a campaign. Time for another FO4 playthrough!!!
This is going to be fantastic. Looking forward to this
Wow this is going to be fun, I only played part 1 so will be interested to see what you make of this.
Going to binge this series :) ❤
Perfectly timed explosion there XD
Damn fine suit Mayor Bob. Would love to watch the series for this modset!
I literally only thought today - "Wouldn't it be perfect if Jon done a series on Sim Settlement 2 now that chapter 3 is out..." - Perfection.
Rewatching from the beginning. That "nevermind" from the stranger a second after the truck explodes post Deathclaw fight was waaay too perfectly timed. Makes me chuckle everytime.
wonderfully timed!
I love settlement building in Fallout 4 so this is going to be an interesting but fun watch for me.
Oh there's so much more to this than just settlement building
@@prossnip42 I'm looking forward to that. I have only heard of the original SIM Settlements mod before, so this is my first look at this.
Keep em coming bro!
Cant wait for the next episode!
So happy about this series
Back to Fallout 4! I have a warm feeling, like coming home.
GREAT VIDEO
You can tell this is a good mod, because it's making Jon want to invest in his settlement. Jon. Who's motto for settlement building is usually, "Well, why don't you go and sort it out yourselves". Being actually eager to build this place up.
I'm still haunted by how he left those poor settlers in Jamaica Plain in YOLO. Nothing but a few low ramshackle fences between them and the ghouls.
Um... that's because this mod literally lets him tell his settlers to "go and sort it our yourselves" and they actually do lol.
What an interesting mod concept.
Starfield has made me want to play Fallout 4 again
Just branch out into something new instead
Do it!
I'm so glad to see you playing possibly my favourite mod of all time!
EDIT: WTF CHAPTER 3 IS OUT FUCK THIS I GOTTA PLAY FALLOUT 4
Huh! You know, I have heard a lot about this mod, but I have never actually seen it in action (I'm way too far into my own game to think of installing something new and starting over). So I am happy to live vicariously through you and explore this new campaign! And I am deeply amused that Jake insists you help Preston -- the settlement build factions have to stick together! XD
I did not know that Sim Settlements 2 was done. This is going to get me right back into Fallout 4.
I loved Sim Setelemnts 2 . And I am looking forwards to seeing what Jon manages to do with it .
Amazing, I love Sim settlements
will definitely give this mod a playthrough when I get my pc back from the shop
