I have watched a lot of videos based on this theme of growing a youtube channel, and wow your video is the first one where I felt yes I am going to leave a comment ❤ yes I am going to keep on trying, and I will keep making videos for a BETTER ME !! Go Mikee ! You are doing a great job and have deffo inspired me !!!
Amazing advice!!! Especially appreciated tying your "niche" into a trending topic. I've been avoiding some trends because I don't want to go viral for the wrong thing. Now I feel like I can try by applying this method.
Sky! I've seen plenty of your videos and you are one of the few tech reviewers I watch that really Vlogs with a "Vlog" style camera. Always appreciate your videos!

I'm so glad you posted this video; you explain everything in a way that is easy to understand. I have been so scatter brained lately and feeling stuck, but this has inspired me to do better!

I appreciate all your realness and talks! Thanks for sharing and congratulations on 10k woohoo!!! You're now at 11k btw lol. I'm so happy at 3k haha coz I just reached that this year on this channel. I still want to do vlogs on my other channel haha but I will have to launch my yoga program first. So I enjoy your tips coz I seriously suck at vlogging and it's hard for me to work fast around the house when I have to vlog at the same time coz I move so fast and my only downtimes are when I have to practice yoga and do laundry to watch videos like yours hahaha waaaa! But thank youuu
Hey Georgina! Congrats on hitting that 3k milestone! Omg if you ever start to Vlog you better let me know so I can be your first sub on that channel! haha. Have a great week and keep flowing!
Yay, I'm so happy you posted this! 🥰 I started my UA-cam channel 3 years ago and I thought (like you mentioned) that at first your pick a niche, you grow you channel and then you can do whatever, but then I slowly realised that isn't working. So 2 months ago I started adding vlogs to my channel, which I always wanted to do, and now my metrics are much lower (which I know is to be expected when you pivot). But the point is, when I look for tips on how to grow a vlog channel I just can't seem to find a lot of info. So I kinda except vlogging is different, and that I have to keep experimenting and having fun. I also noticed that what it's good for viral videos, is not necessarily beneficial for vlogs where there needs to be a connection, so thank you so much for this, I feel less alone in my vlogging journey 😊 P.S. I love your channel, I found it when I was researching which vlog camera to buy, and I stayed ever since. I love the quality, the pacing, the vibe, it's super fun to watch ❤
Hey Kim! Thanks for sharing (especially since it validates some of my thoughts in the video haha - I started to get imposter syndrome after publishing 😂). I found a bit of "micro success" when I did a mukbang early on that got me to 1k subs quick. It was just a random video I wanted to post. I think that hurt my channel early on as I was looking at analytics and in the section that shows what other channels your subs watched, they were all mukbangs. Took me awhile to get that sorted lol. Looking forward to checking out your channel (I have a huge watch later playlist I need to catch up from all the lovely content creators that have commented on my videos so apologizes if it takes me awhile to catch up!)
@@MikeeRogers Thanks for replying! 😊 And yes, definitely I feel the same way. I also had some "viral" videos, and now looking back I can see that I created this "how to girlie" that I never wanted to be. But just because people loved some of these videos I kept making them, lol 🙈 So now I'm in the phase of sorting it out, and I decided if I want to share some tips I will do a "how-I" video (instead of "how-to"), because I can keep it more personal and in the vlog format, but at the same time I can still share what I think it's useful. Also, how lovely that you check out other channels, you're awesome. It's so nice to connect to other creators since we're all in this together, figuring it out ❤
I am really enjoying your channel and the tips that you share. Thank you for talking about vlogging because these other people have had me running in circles.

Great tips, Mikee! We’re so happy to see your channel grow and you getting the recognition that you deserve! We thoroughly enjoy watching your vlogs! That Epidemic Sound intro! 🤣 But hey, we can totally see you doing that for real in the future! Been holding out for the longest time! 😬😅
Hi guys! 😂 at my "sponsorship" but yes, always good to manifest and it was good practice! haha. Someone commented on here to also try exporting your 1080p content into 4k. That might be something to look into as well to see if the quality gets a bump! Hope ya'll are doing well!
@@MikeeRogers yeah, that’s what we’v been doing - shooting in 1080p and then exporting it in 4k. The quality is good, but for sure, footage shot in 4k will be much sharper. So, we’ll have to bite the bullet and shoot in 4k soon! Just not a fan of how big the files get 😅
hi Mikee! This is great advice. I need to shoot in 4k but I have an old computer 😢. I appreciate all your vlogs. You have a very clean aesthetic that I appreciate though it’s quite opposite of me! Thanks for the great advice.
Let's be honest, Mikee is a honest humble kind friend the one everyone would love to have! Thank you Mikee for your tips and fingers crossed for your future colab with Epidemic Sounds! :D
Great video Mikee! So much useful information. Ive been debating on purchasing the new Fujifilm x100VI (releasing on the 20th) to see if I could utilize its hype to grow my channel to a monetization status. I've seen channels grow overnight with showcasing the older model x100v and I'm just hoping that this would be a great investment since I do see your DJI video did well. I'm also on the same boat of wanting to grow my subs, but I don't want to grow the wrong audience who wont come back for more of me.
Oh dude that’s not a bad idea.. also if your not sure about the camera.. you can always buy it for a few videos and if it doesn’t work outs return it.. that’s a whole nother experience to share with your audience as well. I’m just super sayian… 😎
BROOOOOO, oh no... I didn't know a leak was out for the x100VI!!!! And without a job, this is DANGER lmao. I owned the original x100 then x100v and sold and owned the V, twice. Ultimately didn't end up keeping it because I just felt everything was a bit sluggish. And now that I see they may be adding IBIS, this could be a killer b-cam! (sorry geek tangent)... But yes, be careful about what you put out. I totally forgot to mention that early on, I put out a mukbang that did really well (random upload) and it got me to 1k subs quick. I think that hurt my channel early on as I was looking at analytics and in the section that shows what other channels your subs watched, they were all mukbangs. Took me awhile to get that sorted lol. As far as the x100vi - maybe think about getting it from a place that has free returns that way in case you don't end up liking it or it doesn't work for you, you can always return it (and getting content out of it isn't unethical IMO if you are returning because you don't see it fitting in your kit).
Loved this video! Thank you for making one about vlogging! I’m a newbie studio vlogger and have recently been wanting to include some lifestyle vlogs too and your channel is awesome! Love your aesthetic and it’s inspirational seeing how you’ve grown!
Hi Smeeny, thanks! Love your small biz btw - such cute beanies! Just saw you have a Japan Vlog - adding to my watch later since I'll be going later this year so I've been prepping with Japan content ☺️
Hi Mikee! Insightful as always! This is very helpful for newbies like myself. I started to post my "real" vlogs about a year ago. I envisioned it to be a Travel & Lifestyle channel but because I've been travelling, my vlogs have been mostly just about that and I forgot the lifestyle part. And now I'm not sure how I can incorporate that to my channel. I totally agree with you 101% when you said you gotta like watching vlogs to become a vlogger otherwise, it is never going to work. Looking forward to see your channel grow even more! :)
@@thewanderingjake oh I got ya.. yea I did a loooot more traveling before starting my channel as well. Imma have to check out your channel to see where you travel.
Hey Jake! Nice to hear from you! Traveling content can technically be lifestyle content, I think so anyway. Just figure out how to add more of your personal thoughts, travel essentials/pack with me, etc. But yea, if you don't want to be a travel channel, you definitely want to add in more lifestyle content too. I did a mukbang early on that I think hurt my channel. Got about 10k views, got me to 1k subs but those subs didn't watch my vlogs.
@@MikeeRogers Thanks Mikee! Yes, I was definitely thinking of doing a “Pack with Me” vlog. Thank you for responding! Looking forward to seeing your next vlog ❤️
I just started to make a switch in my other channel ( my Pawesome frenchie ) from French bulldog educational content to more lifestyle, content creation, social media content. I haven't been consistent on over a year so even with dog content I don't get much traction, so I started all over again and building a new audience on my existing channel because it's already monetized. Yes it's a shift but some of my viewers still want to see that content and I bring my dogs on my videos from time to time.
I'm trying to grow my silent vlog and it always frustrates me that there is not much information about vlogs growth, so thank you for sharing these tips!
YES AND AMEN! I had been watching Katie S. for her UA-cam strategy advice and then I looked at her travel vlog channel and was super shocked and disappointed. Like, ma’am. Your main channel is big because of your topic. But your advice is clearly not applicable to vlogging. Her average vlog, after 10 months on UA-cam, is still only getting 200-500 views. I started a channel last month and I have videos with 2k already. I think lifestyle and vlogs come down to one main thing- personality. Do you have to have a reasonable grasp on editing and thumbnails? Sure. But if you’re dull or too scripted, people aren’t going to watch.
Hi there! I actually like her travel vlogs haha but I get what you're saying (and I too was disappointed). But it just goes to show how hard it is to grow a Vlog/lifestyle channel. Also goes to show that we have to take what these growth channels say with a grain of salt when it comes to our niche. Lots of useful info but they talk about it as if it were a one size fits all advice at times. Would love more growth conversations around vlogs to help us smaller creators out!
@@MikeeRogers yes, more realistic conversations would be great! I think most advice channels have a hard time saying outright that it’s about who you are as a human. Because you can’t really teach that, obviously. I love your channel and found it from your “I list my job” video. And I do like Katie’s videos. I just think she’s gotten herself kind of stuck in her “creator tips” niche, is frustrated, and trying really hard with her second channel, as she has said herself. I hope you continue to find more success!
Loved this conversation Mikee 💛 wondering if you knew from the start that you wanted to create a lifestyle vlogging channel or something you gradually grew into? Loving your context lately x
Hi Aik! Your last video was great btw and congrats on that 1k milestone! You're on the right path! And yes from the start of my actual UA-cam journey, I knew it was going to be lifestyle and Vlog focused. I think that's because it's what I gravitate to most with the content I watch on UA-cam and I think it also has the most versatility in content vs sticking to one main niche.
Totally fair! I love me a Vlog without music as well, especially when it suits the vlogger/personality. I should haven mentioned that too! Have a great weekend Daniel!
You're awesome sweet liz! BTW, I'm a silent viewer for the BGA fam, I always smile when I hear them say "hey sweet liz!" haha, random but just wanted to share ❤️
Hey Bryan... it wasn't until I started to incorporate trending/searchable content that I saw a bigger reach in audience and growth. Which makes sense since that's when I started to provide some sort of value to people.
Hey! So for these talking head videos (2 so far), I've only scripted one, my video about how UA-cam changed my life. For this video, I just jotted down some notes of what I wanted to say and had a rough outline of talking points. Then I just kinda speak out loud in the shower a few times before I record the video 😂 I tried a teleprompter app but it did not go well for me.
Hi Tish! I started out with iMovie and then once I got the hang of the basics (and knew I was in this for the long haul) invested and transitioned to Final Cut Pro. I have heard good things about DaVinci Resolve and I believe they have a free version to get your started.
Thank you for this video! The biggest thing I have heard from the successful creators that is out of reach for a lot of us is joining a mastermind. Just meeting once a month with like minded bloggers could be a game changer. I would love to start one if you’re interested.
This was great, just subscribed :) I’m thinking of starting a channel that’s like a hybrid of vlogging and informational (health and mindset stuff). It would mainly be for info and tools and hopefully also promote my 1:1 coaching. Do you think this is viable?
If we were to stop paying for the epidemic sound subscription, do the copyright strikes happen? Meaning once we get monetized, do we always have to continue the subscription indefinitely alongside our channel?
Nope! They state on their website: All content published during a trial or active subscription will stay cleared forever. Verified with them before signing up as well 🙌🏼
But Mikee how do I start? Argh, I have so many ideas in my head and have the hardest time simply pressing record. And I have no problem putting myself out there either, I love vlogging, I just feel stuck. 😢
Hey Chris! Your shorts are great, lean into taking that talent into long form. And don't stress too much in the beginning. My first year of videos are currently sitting at around 300-400 views. 52 weeks of vlogs. If I stressed too much about it in that one year, I could have burnt out. Instead, I decided to just enjoy the process, work on myself, continue to improve and research what was working for other creators as well as myself. If you have a story to tell... tell it!
I started a vlog didn't really gain traction. I started uploading travel content and that seems to be doing better views wise. I'm can't be a full time travel content creator lol
Hey Mikee, I just watched your video and I must say that it was really informative and well-made. I was wondering if I could help you edit your highly engaging videos which will help your video to reach to a wider audience and increase your subscribers and viewers.
When I go to my local Trader Joe's they have a sign that says no pictures and videos inside. What do we do as vloggers when the business owner does that?
Interesting, are you in LA or NY (I'm thinking of cities that maybe have a lot of content creators)? We don't have those signs at our Trade Joe's. When I do see them though, I respect it and don't film but haven't really run into that problem here in San Diego.

It's 100000% scary but also 10000000000% rewarding. Take the plunge, surprise yourself, grow, fall down, get back up and enjoy the ride! You'll never know unless you try and even if you don't end up continuing through (because realistically that can happen), trying and putting yourself out there will help you in other aspects of your life. Good luck!
Saying "it’s so hard to get comfortable even as in extrovert.." really is helpful haha. It goes to show how hard putting ourself out there really is.
Hiii Mikee! You’re officially my favorite UA-cam Vlogger! 💕💕💕 Can’t wait to see your journey.
Wow! I'm so honored! ❤️❤️❤️🥹
thank you for this video... I need to get back to vlogging I miss it.
Yay and thanks for watching and commenting! Wishing you all the best in your UA-cam journey!
Amazing advice!!! Especially appreciated tying your "niche" into a trending topic. I've been avoiding some trends because I don't want to go viral for the wrong thing. Now I feel like I can try by applying this method.
Ayyyeee great tips man! I really love how you mentioned that you actually have to like vlogs and to level up the confidence
Sky! I've seen plenty of your videos and you are one of the few tech reviewers I watch that really Vlogs with a "Vlog" style camera. Always appreciate your videos!
@@MikeeRogers oooh wow thanks man! Yea I think I’m more of a vlogger than a tech reviewer lol 😂
My friend!! Loved this advice and video!! It's exactly what I needed to hear. Especially advice from a VLOGGER. Thank you. Also, I am so happy to be a part of this community.
Toolz babe! Ya got the personality, that's not lacking for sure! Just gotta figure out how to wrap that up so a larger audience can see it! BTW I freakin loved your dance break (breaks!) in your last Vlog to Mrs Queen B - you got me smiling from ear to ear! I didn't comment yet on the Vlog because I haven't finished but just had to let you know! ❤️
Mikee!! i LOVE this video and have always enjoyed seeing vlog channel tips, i love yours and i was dead at the epidemic sound sponsor YES let's manifest that for 2024, i see it 😍
Jenna! 😂😂 It was great practice in case I ever get a sponsorship lol!
Great video! I love the music example you gave and haha you got me with the Epidemic sound section! Please sponsor him now! thank you❤
Thanks! I almost tricked myself into thinking it was a legit sponsor when editing 😂😂
I'm so glad you posted this video; you explain everything in a way that is easy to understand. I have been so scatter brained lately and feeling stuck, but this has inspired me to do better!
Hey Darcy! You know you can always chat, pick my brain or bounce ideas off me whenever you want!

Haha thanks Hanna, love love love your channel name by the way!

Yay new video!!! I mostly watch your videos on TV too which I cannot comment so I have to login to this account for me to leave a comment because I am using my other account to watch YT on TV lol.
But just because people loved some of these videos I kept making them, lol 🙈
So now I'm in the phase of sorting it out, and I decided if I want to share some tips I will do a "how-I" video (instead of "how-to"), because I can keep it more personal and in the vlog format, but at the same time I can still share what I think it's useful.
Also, how lovely that you check out other channels, you're awesome. It's so nice to connect to other creators since we're all in this together, figuring it out ❤

Great tips, Mikee! We’re so happy to see your channel grow and you getting the recognition that you deserve! We thoroughly enjoy watching your vlogs!
That Epidemic Sound intro! 🤣 But hey, we can totally see you doing that for real in the future! Manifesting 🙏 Also, totes agree with keeping it authentic! 👍
Side note, been filming in 1080p but exporting 4k, but I think it’s time to finally bite the bullet and shoot everything in 4k soon!
Just not a fan of how big the files get 😅
Just started watching you a few days ago and I’m hooked!….great content and this will definitely give me some ideas for my channel🔥
Hey Steph, glad you got some ideas from this video!
hi Mikee! This is great advice. I need to shoot in 4k but I have an old computer 😢. I appreciate all your vlogs. You have a very clean aesthetic that I appreciate though it’s quite opposite of me! Thanks for the great advice.
Hey! Yea, I'd say if shooting in 4k is gonna cause more stress (during editing), don't stress it haha. That's something you can grow into later.
Let's be honest, Mikee is a honest humble kind friend the one everyone would love to have! Thank you Mikee for your tips and fingers crossed for your future colab with Epidemic Sounds! :D
Hey man, nice to hear from you! Thanks for the kind words!! 🫶🏼
Hello 👋🏾 Mikee! Great informational content! Love it!❤️🔥💓❤️🔥Have a great night and Wonderful Weekend ❤

Niiice Jake!!! Are you traveling around Europe?
Sidenote: I also like the same tip about liking to watch vlogs. I haven’t really heard that before.
@@ItzSKYVlogs I would like to one day. I have been to Europe but it was before my vlogging days :)

Hi Monica, haha thanks! I'm never sure how much to add of cooking/eating on my vlogs so appreciate the feedback!
I love seeing your content, keep working and sharing your great knowledge
Thanks bud!
Looks like you have a good understanding of what you need to do for the transition in content! Wishing you all the best for 2024 growth!
Thank you so much Mikee for sharing this video 😊🎉. Very good information.
You're very welcome! Hopefully some of these tips work out for you! 🫶🏼

Mikee, you just manifested Epidemic Sound sponsoring one of your next videos, I'm sure of that 😁🙌
Haha, I hope so! Just watched your video about being your own boss... So inspiriting and resonates so much with me at this chapter of my life. ❤️
@@MikeeRogers thank you for the kind words of encouragement Mikee, still finding my feet and building up confidence for vlogging 💛😊x
Thank you for your advice, Mikee! Very helpful video!
You're welcome Cole! And good luck with your 2024 growth for your channel, keep at it!

Totally fair! I love me a Vlog without music as well, especially when it suits the vlogger/personality. I should haven mentioned that too! Have a great weekend Daniel!
Great video!! Now I just need to be consistent!!! lol

Omg mikee 😊❤ ya awesome
You're awesome sweet liz! BTW, I'm a silent viewer for the BGA fam, I always smile when I hear them say "hey sweet liz!" haha, random but just wanted to share ❤️
thank you! as a new vlogger, this is really helpful. at what point (after how many videos) did you feel like your channel growth occur?
Hey Bryan... it wasn't until I started to incorporate trending/searchable content that I saw a bigger reach in audience and growth. Which makes sense since that's when I started to provide some sort of value to people.
😂😂😂 I really like the, "Boop", comment. Nene Leakes would use that saying. LOL. Continue growing and mastering your channel. 👍🏽
I love Nene!! Omg, I wonder if that's where I a subconsciously got it from 😂😂 boop!
@@MikeeRogers 🤣🤣🤣 Maybe so. That’s one of her most famous sayings. Happy Monday. 🌞👍🏽
Hi Mikee! I'm curious if you usually script your vlogs or if what you say comes naturally -- either way you are great at speaking!
Hey! So for these talking head videos (2 so far), I've only scripted one, my video about how UA-cam changed my life. For this video, I just jotted down some notes of what I wanted to say and had a rough outline of talking points. Then I just kinda speak out loud in the shower a few times before I record the video 😂
I tried a teleprompter app but it did not go well for me.
@@MikeeRogers thank you! I value your input 😁
What edit software do you use? Thanks for the video.
That's a great idea - send me some info if you ever decide to get one going.
If you have a story to tell... tell it!
We have the same last name 💪🏾😁
Nice to meet you Mr. Rogers 😀
I so hope that Epidemic Sound finds this video/your channel one day so that you can say that line for real! 😊
Haha, that would be awesome ☺️ thanks for throwing out those good intentions!
I started a vlog didn't really gain traction. I started uploading travel content and that seems to be doing better views wise. I'm can't be a full time travel content creator lol
Glad you're seeing some traction in your travel content but I feel you with not being able to do it full time haha. Would be a dream though!
😍😍😍
Hey Mikee, I just watched your video and I must say that it was really informative and well-made. I was wondering if I could help you edit your highly engaging videos which will help your video to reach to a wider audience and increase your subscribers and viewers.
Appreciate the hustle but I’m not at a point (or budget) to be hiring help at the moment. Ty though!
My first video has NO views 😢
When I go to my local Trader Joe's they have a sign that says no pictures and videos inside. What do we do as vloggers when the business owner does that?
Interesting, are you in LA or NY (I'm thinking of cities that maybe have a lot of content creators)? We don't have those signs at our Trade Joe's. When I do see them though, I respect it and don't film but haven't really run into that problem here in San Diego.
