This performance is from our 70th Anniversary Gala in January 2020.

Founded in 1950 as London Festival Ballet by the great English Dancers Alicia Markova and Anton Dolin, English National Ballet has been at the forefront of ballet’s growth and evolution ever since.
English National Ballet brings world class ballet to the widest possible audience through performances across the UK and on eminent international stages including The Bolshoi Theatre and Palais Garnier; its distinguished orchestra, English National Ballet Philharmonic; and being a UK leader in creative learning and engagement practice, building innovative partnerships to deliver flagship programmes such as English National Ballet’s Dance for Parkinson’s.
Under the artistic directorship of Tamara Rojo CBE, English National Ballet has introduced ground-breaking new works to the Company’s repertoire whilst continuing to honour the tradition of great classical ballet, gaining acclaim for artistic excellence and creativity. 2019 saw English National Ballet enter a new chapter in its history with a move into a purpose-built state-of-the-art home in East London which brings a renewed commitment to, and freedom for, creativity, ambition, and connection to more people, near and far, than ever before.

This is a masterpiece that many people must see.
I’ve now lost count of how many times I’ve watched this 😍
Me too!!
This is so refresingly different and energetic, a thrilling performance
Indeed, a masterpiece! The result of so many years of Forsythe's work and of the high technical level that dancers have at the present time. Besides, it's a reflection of the human being as he is and lives today.
I cry every time. Blessed enough to watch this side of stage. What a performance 🤍
I saw this show earlier in the year and don’t go a month without thinking about it. The most amazing live dance performance I’ve ever seen. It brought me to tears
That was sick!!! I loved the movement, the use of levels, timing, and all the “masculine”power(beats/jumps)!!!! Well done!!!
Glad you liked it!! Thank you! :)
@@englishnationalballet what is the name of the song???
Jeffrey Cirio killing it at 1:22!
I saw this yesterday and it was magical. It makes you feel part of the dance. Thank you ENB.
I saw it yesterday as well, incredible evening with awe-inspiring dancers
What a style, they dance with so much grace and effortless, despite vibrantly ❤ What a masterpiece, I wish we could watch the whole piece.
Brilliant!!!! Can´t get enough of it!!!! FANTASTIC!!!
This was the highlight of getting back into a concert hall this year

Thanks very much for posting this. Saw the complete work at Sadlers Wells and also this performance at the Colly in Jan. ENB male dancers are simply the best and this piece shows them off so well.
I’ve seen this performed once and it was brilliant, can’t wait to see it again! :D
This is Tamara Rojo's legacy: A technically brilliant ENB who look modern!
It was so refreshing when I first saw this in person!
Una sincronia di movimenti , musica ...una gioia e voglia di vivere...semplicemente geniale
Seeing this live was so amazing!
This is so great!
I need this ballet in my life. Please let me have the opportunity to see it live. Forsyth is a genius!! You better bring ALL your technique if you are cast for this ballet.

This absolutely mesmerizing. Can anybody tell me who is the 2nd dancer in order of appearance ? I find him fantastic.
Hello Christine! The dancer appearing from 00:24 is Henry Dowden. www.ballet.org.uk/people/henry-dowden/ :)
@@englishnationalballet Oh, thank you so much. Please congrat him. They are all fantastic, but I love Henry's style, specially his very firm contact with the ground, whatever the "free looking" moves.
Ok this is amazing !!!! When was this first performed ?
Hello Laura! William Forsythe created Playlist (Track 1, 2) for us in 2018. It premiered on 12 April 2018 as part of our Voices of America programme. :)
Dance evolved.
앙 너무좋앙~😍
Will this be part of the evening with William Forsythe being in March 2022
Hi Julie! Yes, THE FORSYTHE EVENING will include Playlist (Track 1, 2) and be expanded into Playlist (EP) - more info here: www.ballet.org.uk/production/the-forsythe-evening/
♡♡♡♡♡
Can anyone identify Aitor Arrieta in this performance?
Cómo se llama la canción ?
Hola! Se llama Impossible (Jax Jones remix) por Lion Babe. :)
@@englishnationalballet muchas gracias!!
Bailan increíble!!!!
I prefer dance theater and Pina Baush... the movements seem repetitive and they lack the element of surprise.
It's really strange how forsythe has gone from choreography that was painfully abstruse in the late stage to these banal trivialities as choreographer in exile.
Dance in any form is never a banal triviality.
@@nutbits Abstruse is probably not the most accurate descriptor. Deconstructed (decreasing the range and continuity of movement) and insular (his wrong IMO focus on the performance as an event in which the dancers are participating) would be more accurate. Atmospheric Studies, Sider, Outer Space, etc. I became an instantly devoted fan when I saw Impressing The Czar. The Loss of Small Detail is probably his best work IMO, but by the 21st century his works became less appealing and satisfying. Although i was never deterred from seeing his company any chance I had. I saw the program he put on for boston ballet as well. I wouldn't bother with his latest incarnation.
@@chrisreed3022 It appears you have not seen much dance, let alone much work by forsythe.
@@nutbits Ah, a fan?! I first saw BF in 1989 (Impressing the Czar) and was blown away. In the middle was mesmerizing. I swear a dancer went up on pointe, in extension, and did a very very slow pirouette. Although I love a lot of his work, Loss of Small Detail is the best of what I've seen.
The political battles must have been trying, but i think it was the journey he was on as an artist. I am not a fan of jazz when it's an insular experience, with the audience as voyeurs. I felt his choreography developed that quality- and was presumably much more interesting and profound to the dancers than it was for this audience member.
What are your thoughts on forsythe?
@@nutbits Yes, I have. It is a lovely piece. I was not a fan of Bryars' setting, but now own it and imagine the dance whenever it pops up on my music list. I have a soft spot for Wolff Phrase, a small work; the lead in that was a wonderful dancer who did not stay with the company long. Thanks for the exchange. I don't often get the chance to discuss dance. I had the great luck to work in a theater during high school that had a modern dance series (among other great programming) during the heyday of (post)modern dance. I developed a passion for this art form.
Cool. Fantastic dance. Great choreography... ❤
