It would take a helluva fire in that state. I remember my auto tech teacher telling me they would put engine blocks from vw beetles in the fire to have a light show. They were partly made with magnesium.

Very surprising gadgets for how cheap they are and where they're from. If that is all I had I would use them. Absolutely keep the cheap survival gadgets coming if you come across something interesting.

Normally I wouldn't even consider a hatchet that light but he makes me want to try one. I guess it depends on the type of wood you have to process in your environment.

That ax is good for cutting off the magnesium as long as you use the back part to shave it off. Never use the blade side of your knife or ax to start a fire with because you are dulling your tools. I love the water bottle from Wal-Mart and I would use it with my survival pack and it is compact too.
Dryer lint is an excellent fire starter and it's free. Gallon zip lock bags are great for water bags and they are very compact and cheap.
