- Join me for a walk around the harbour area of John O'Groats, almost as far north as we can go on the mainland of Great Britain! Located an incredible 876 miles away from Land's End in Cornwall, 690 miles from London and 280 miles from Edinburgh, this remote but famous point of extremity is full of history and some truly spectacular windswept scenery.
On our walk around John O'Groats, we pass a number of interesting landmarks, including the John O'Groats Signpost, John O'Groats House Hotel, the Pentland Firth, Stroma Island, Nomadic Boulders, The Last House, the John O'Groats Trail, Duncansby Head Foghorn (John O'Groats Seaman Memorial), the 'wishing whale', John O'Groats Harbour, and the John O'Groats signpost once again!

Looks exactly the same as when I was there, in 1996 (apart from the coloured houses) I started my non stop cycle ride to Lands End from there, it took me 67 hours and 34 mins, and fell asleep only twice on the bike both resulting in a crash, one into a hedgerow and one near Bristol into the back of a lorry, but got there in one piece and raised £13.5k for charity

Where to book boat trip to explore Wilde life in John o groat?
The southernmost part of the South Island of New Zealand is extremely similar to the Highlands of Scotland.
nice, but it's as windy as I remember it
Lands end is 874 miles according to the iconic signpost, not 876 which is on the wall. JOG is worth a visit, but the local bus service is almost non-existent.
What gets me about the john o' groats sign post
is you can get your photograph for free
but at the land's end sign post
They charge you £10.95 for a snapshot
And if you go late about 7 in the summertime when they're nobody's their the sign post has gone ?
well John o'Groats isn't owned by an entertainment company
