If I am sending a custom event from inside my project's code base, I can see the custom event logged in ga4 but I just want to see the parameters that I send, I go and create the custom dimension for that custom event, do I still need to set up GTM in order to populate a custom dimension?
Custom dimensions/metrics are for parameters in particular. As long as you pick them up from the dropdown during the creation process, no additional work is needed
visitor_type in GA4 is considered an additional piece of data, so yes - you have to set it up yourself AND register it as custom dimension. That said, Wordpress GTM by Tomi Duracell plugin feeds visitor_type automatically to dataLayer, so investigate your CMS before coding form scratch

Do i have to setup any custom htm tag or trigger for visitor_type tag setup? In ga4 i can not find the visitor type. Please inform
