Demar was a trooper in his stint in SA and i wouldnt mind if he returned for the right price. Imagine cp3 and demar taking over the game when wemby and the young guns are on the bench.
Maybe it’s just because I really like DeMar, but I wouldn’t hate this, especially if Keldon is traded. A guy that can just go get you a bucket if needed isn’t a bad option. Definitely not an ideal fit, but I’ve rooted for him before and I wouldn’t be mad about doing so again. There would definitely be spacing issues, but at least he can be on the perimeter when he doesn’t have the ball and force a guy to cover him due to the threat of him having the ball in open space. If you don’t close out on him he knows exactly how to get to his spots in the mid range, and he can at least hit an open three here and there to keep the defense honest. I also don’t think that the playmaking will detract from Castle’s ability to develop as a PG. He would have the ball in his hands less when running with the starters, but the second unit would still be wide open for him to be a playmaker. Having a roster chock full of guys that can get 4-5 assists per game is never a bad thing, and somewhat reminds me of the Spurs of a decade ago where anyone on the floor can and will make the extra pass.
With his athleticism and mid-range game DeMar DeRozan would be a phenomenal readdition to the Spurs if he developed a 3-point shot and defensive ability since his last Spurs stint.
Sign him to a 3 year deal. We dont give up any picks. He is a MASSIVE upgrade from champagne. Castle can come in from the bench learn from paul fill in for derozen at times. Paul leaves, Castle takes over next year. Derozens contract is up just in time when you have to start paying wemby and sochan. We have the hawks picks with a ton more. Use those picks now and start drafting his replacement, so when he leaves we have a guy. It could work i would be for it. Hawks picks are going to be good they are a dumpster fire.

UNLESS he's happy being a bench player when Wemby isn't on the court, but he still sees himself as a superstar, so I doubt he'd go for that. He's a Westcoast kid and now has a chance to choose to play in his home state.

Demar with sharpshooters is a fantastic player still and it would be a big fix on our turnover game. Would spurs fans really be mad at giving demar a 2 year 20-25m per year deal when this is also us showing the league how we can trade a megastar thats unhappy(kawhi), and still end up in a better position than most teams who were not forced in that position? He proved that in his lowest point in life with his father getting sick while in san antonio, that he can still be a team player and he is one of if not the best role models of a vet that our youngins can look up to and learn from alongsides cp3. Sidy/castle would be some of his students that would also guard him everyday in practice. He is invaluable because he brings intangibles that cannot be shown on stat sheets. Chris paul and demar are easily 2 guys who can help close a game either being on the floor or giving the youngins pointers. Demar also doesn’t have attitude issues. Not that Demar isn’t a great teammate because he is, but he is ball dominant and will slow the progression of Castle and cause a set back in Devin’s growth. We ain’t trying to be good for a year, we’re trying to build something special. Just doesn’t make sense in my humble opinion.

I don't really like Demar in the playoffs. He gets too frustrated, doesn't get back so he can argue with the refs and gets techs.
