- Hey guys I just wanted to make a video of what I do on a daily basis at work and what I do, I don’t always do these tasks cause sometimes I just do a variety of different things.
Ig: @ mannyish
Trade is not easy. I'm 2 years in w thousands of dollars invested in tools. Working on cars is satisfactory..but having to put a fake face sometimes at work sucks.
I'm Working hard to be my own boss some day. The World has a lot to offer. After I master body and paint, I'd like to educate myself on aluminum welding, body kits, 3D/scan molding, carbon fiber fabrication, and leather/upholstery. And put my Brand out there. Like the legend Akira nakai (RWB)
Wow sounds like a lot of hard work but it’ll pay off! I’m just looking what to do for an apprenticeship or what I want to do in college, I have something to do with working on cars or carpentry in mind atm
Keep going bro. Follow your dream
I been a tech for 4 years full time , it's all about having a good shot and bringing home 1500 a week after taxes
Bro what, commission or hourly? And what state 🫠 mind me asking g
@@diegoqwe4864fr im going to start next week at 18 dollars per hour 💀
Shit I’m pushing for $2500 a week after taxes , I’m at $1800 right now .
how long did it take you and what state?
@@AChampagneWeezy
@@AChampagneWeezydo u need to go to trade school ?
You’re acting like one of those google employees . You show up at 9 am , go straight to brake . Then talk for an hour , or two . Then go to lunch .
Crazy to see how other shops are puts a different perspective
Yeah everything is becoming different
Dayuuuuuum we’ve got a old semi trailer we keep our parts in works pretty well and doesn’t get too crowded lol.
Yeah we have these storage bins but it’s not enough to store the parts
I work with my dad as a tech, almost been there a year working with him, he’s been doing this for yearssssss now, but it’s always a blast
I'm an aprintace for bout 1 year now at 25$ n hour. They want me to go flat rate in about 2 months. If you hate what you do you won't get anywhere doing it. I enjoy the work I do and my boss can definitely tell.
Appreciate the video, was about to apply to a collision spot in my area. Always nice to see different perspectives.
Yeah try it out, if you can land an apprentice then your set but unlike me. I started out from washing cars and worked my way up
@@Mannyish yeah bro, I’m 17 and I just started a month ago. I clean cars and I want to learn the trade.
@@jonvazquez682 nice man, start observing and don’t be scared to volunteer to do somthing, Remember if you break something that’s ok. it’s all part of the learning process because those mistakes are your success
You know how most sporty cars have dented lines for design and aerodynamics? If someone were to request them to lets say, stretch the bottom portion of a door inwards to create a crevice. Then match it the same for the rear to give a more sporty look, is a body shop what I'm suppose to be looking at for this job?
Yes, preferably a competition body shop that specializes in body kits or accessories, body shops are just known to repair vehicles unless you trust them but I take it to like a performance shop so they actually take their time doing a job more broad and take time to make it look good. This is just me and I hope this helps you.
I agree with you as far as being a shit hole working at a body shop. It’s all I know too and I’m trying to get out as well 🤣
Haha yes, still trying to figure out what to do😅
all ik is i cant do an office job and look good everyday i like to get dirty and workings with my hands and i like cars and learning how to repair cars and fix my own
@@Mannyish find you a good bodyshop to work at I work a a large dealership and I work commission but I made much more money working at a large clean establishment its very nice benefits too im telling you when you get to use amazing equipment and things that make life easy I learned to love doing bedside jobs and stuff last small shop I worked at I had to use alot of panel bond drill holes and mig them grind them fill them its a pain in the fucking ass now i got access to a bad ass compression welder i might have to mig 2 or 3 times thats it and hardly any panel bond and all the problems you complained about I understand horrible parts area if you can even call that that cant find shit having to talk to your boss asking if shit came in all the really annoying shit that comes with working in a mess and that shit is time going out of pockets cause time is money
@@skyrimreimagined2876 is it easier to apply at smaller shop than a large dealership?
Been at it 8 years and still faking it till I make it 🤣🤣😭
Haha get as long as you’re making it, I spent over 4 years and bore I’m finally done with autobody😅
@@Mannyish but why are you done with autobody??
Thank you so much for making this video! It was very helpful.
Better working at a poop box than a dealership😂
I just finished my schooling for body/refinishing, these comments aren’t too welcoming😂
Haha it’s not bad, just find a good shop that can work with you and that pays your well. My dad and grandpa did this their whole lifetime and they enjoy it, the shop I’m at is just losing their good managers and not paying us well
Same bro I Ik finished in two week I hope I don’t fall on my face going into the auto body industry aswell
You've got to be smart and hard working if you are neither of those get used to the apartment and noodles *Be committed to fixing big jobs on your own* put that above all and the money will come quickly after.
How was it
@@marcusramos7821 So how’s it going? I’m currently getting ready to start school.
Count your blessings brother I went to college for collision repair an savraficed that for a bigger paycheck. An now I wish I didn’t bc I could be home every night and make a good living if I stayed with it lol keep up the good work
Bro do you still work here?
No I left in October, place was toxic after we got a new manager.
@@Mannyish what do you do now? I was thinking of accepting a similar job.
@@tortureddummies1672 I now own a small photography business but I’m also getting my brokers license to become a financial advisor, I never got my degree but I do have experience in marketing.
This is A dope Video really enjoy the content!!!!!!!
Thank you I appreciate it🙏
Don’t forget to seam seal new parts 🎉
Dude . I have been a top auto body painter for 37 years . The trade sucks ! The trade insurance companies control it so the money is not there you're breathing bad chemicals and work with shitty people . I have done very well in life from working hard and selling real estate also . But at 56 I can't wait to get out of this shitty trade ! If I would have went to school for plumbing or electrical instead of Auto body I would be very rich as hard as I have worked .
Wow I feel this 100%. I’m not gonna do this as a career.
@@Mannyish Believe me . At 24 I was a paint representative and finish at the top of my class and trade school with a 98 average grade . I'm great at what I do but the trade will never pay you what you deserve .
@@davegass1650 yes, my painter feels the same way and he’s been doing this for 32 years
@@Mannyish 👍👍👍
I’ve been doing it 10 years and make over 80k a year… I know guys that make over 100k a year not including side work
Since you left auto body what have you been doing now ?
Literally how I feel
Cool video! 👍🏾
Do I like it? Hell no, but it's the only thing I know. I hear you lol
Right!!!😅
Ayy nice vid ! Keep it up !
Do you need to go to school for this trade ?
No you don’t have to, I started from the bottom like washing cars then I started observing and trying new things on my own.
My experience 12 year
Sheesh I might’ve stayed if I was working for that long😅
aye bro I’m looking to go to the Autobody repair business next to me, to be autobody technician apprentice, do you think it’s worth it? and how much do you make an hour??
Worth it! Hope you made the step and are repairing cars by now! There's so much monney to be made in the trade you just have to want it!
I wish I could work with my dad again.
How many labor hours was this? How many hours do you pull in a Day?
I don’t remember but it was a bedside job so maybe around 30hrs
Dude probly hit like 4 hours that day on bolting down that bed and bumper in the 7 hours he actualy worked.
You should make a buffing polishing video 👍🏿
hi guys. my husband has an auto body shop in caribbean. we are migrating to alberta and want to know what he has to do to get a job as auto body technician. he has high school certificate in home country. how long would training take? would anyone get hired based on skill rather than certificate or hqve to have certificate? what certificate should he do. please advise
Just got into a collision center by walking in the door for a quote. And I’m in school for my ase which doesn’t even deal with body work. And if he has ton of experience he should be fine but if he has nothing just gotta fill out an application and keep calling. Dealers ships are ass but is a good route
Pls show a buffing video
I think I will but there’s plenty of buff and polish vids
Man you need to do the polishing way smaller area at a time and higher rpm, please dont try making a tutorial just yet :D :D but good luck tho
Dude that took you all day??? I hope you’re not getting paid commission. Good luck leave the industry now!! While you still have a chance!! Once you start it’s hard to stop. Don’t get paid enough for what you have to put up with
Yeah took me all day cause I was waiting for the painter lol and I left the auto body industry, place was not good. After 4 years I was still getting paid hourly for all the hard work I did
Hi I'm auto body repairing technician need job
Bruh an hour late and you’re blaming slow cars🤡
That’s it? That all you do?
Nope I can do more, I was just showing what I did in that moment of the video
Gotta atleast get 2 build ups a day tho lol
🤔
Good job. Still doing it
Sorry I haven’t gotten back to you but I left in October, I am now working to get my brokers license to become a financial advisor
