    I got a new 21 escape hybrid awd a few months ago, and man I love it. Mpgs are freaking awesome, in fact in eco mode im pulling higher than what was advertised, and I live PA lots of hills not just driving around a flat area. Ford knocked it out if the park as far as Im concerned. Never expected an american car to be so efficient, with awd nonetheless. On average im pulling 48 mpg, and ive got as high as 64 (20 miles trip thru the hills). Super happy, especially with fuel prices what they are now.

    This is a contender for me. Cheaper than the Rav4 Hybrid and, after a test drive of both, a tad more enjoyable to drive. Same resale value? Definitely not. But this is a good appliance to me: fuel sipping, fine AWD system (not the best, but still), quite a lot of room inside, an impressive transmission that does what you're expecting it to do...
    It checks a lot of boxes.

      The MSRP on the Escape SEL hybrid is $2000 more than the Rav4 XSE AWD Hybrid so I do not see how it is cheeper.

    Went to the dealership yesterday to finalize the paperwork for this SUV. MSRP was $33,000, however after the dealer got involved, ended up trying to make me pay $41,000. I love this car, but Ford is killing itself with this.
    Personal CS was 700 before the hard inquirery. 4 years plus of credit history with 3 credit lines, but they gave me the ultimatum of $41,000 total, $730 monthly, at 14%. Obviously had to walk away from that ridiculousness. Was going for $0 down, but could put down a decent chunk for sure.
    I really like the car, and I like the way it’s going! My biggest things are not feeling the road and getting good mpg, both of which this car excels at!

      Yes , they put market adjustment for popular car . From 5000$ to 20000$ added for sticker price . You won’t get with sticker price anymore in these days .

    • @remcoscheepmaker8528
      @remcoscheepmaker8528 2 роки тому +1

      Then you should walk to a different dealer. We picked up our new custom built SEL Hybrid AWD last month, for sticker price minus $1000 factory rebate. No markups, which was actually the reason we went with Ford instead of Hyundai, which did have ridiculous "market adjustments".

      @@remcoscheepmaker8528 I got sticker price at a very nice rate before the Fed raised everything. Comfortably enjoying it now. Great gas and it only cost me $50ish to fill full with soaring gas prices. I think at one point $4.36 local. This with the understanding the only other car I’ve truly owned was a 2005 F150.

    I like the car but warning to 2020 model year, Ford does not do a good job of supporting this vehicle. I have experienced a common problem with battery software module. Dead 12V battery 3 out of 7 days. Car is now in the shop (3 weeks tomorrow!) and still waiting on repair while Ford claims this is "very unusual problem."

    After having to get a new transmission on my 2014 Ford Focus at 19,000 miles in 2016, then a new transmission at 47,000 miles in my 2014 Escape at 3 yrs old….. I’m in the market for a new car…but very hesitant to go with Ford.

    • @Dmccraw1998
      @Dmccraw1998 2 роки тому

      Definitely stay away from the 2020 escape. I had one and I had to have the transmission reprogramed twice because it kept shifting hard and going into park really rough when I’d park it. Less than 20k miles keep in mind. After the second time I was leaving my house and I went to put it in reverse and the car just sat there. After a few seconds it slammed into reverse so hard and threw me back a foot or so, and it was really loud. I’m amazed that nothing broke. Other than that I enjoyed the car, the 3 cylinder turbo engine ran phenomenally had more than enough power and didn’t do to horrible on gas. I eventually had to sell it cause I was tired of dealing with transmission issues.

      @faamecanic1970 The 2012 to 2016 Focus and 2011-2016 Fiesta had a dual clutch transmission subject to a class action lawsuit. Ford settled and agreed to a mass buyback. Including my 2013. I got a credit for full price paid 7 years before. Given the one-off bad trans design, I was OK going Ford again. It wasn't a poorly made trans, it wasn't the quality control of assembly. It was a bad design that had no chance of working long term. A dual clutch design is where a computer operates the clutch in place of a foot. A computer can't feather well and people driving treated the trans as a conventional auto (hill holding, low speed), exacerbating the issue. Clutches were burning out like crazy. I had 8 clutches, 6 reprograms, 8 main seals, etc. We replaced it with a hybrid AWD Escape and so far so good. Not many miles on it yet. But we've had a 2003 and 2011 Focus in the family and they have had zero issues for many, many years with 160k and 210k. The repurchased 2013 had nothing go sour other than the clutches burning out.

      Stay away from any ford escape hybrid, or any ford hybrid for that matter. Research how ford when they first made hybrids tattooed vin numbers on expensive parts so that they could charge you $5000 to replace them. Research the "expensive brake" problem on the first gen escape hybrids where you can suddenly without warning lose your brakes completely because of defective hydraulic control units that plagued them for years. Never buy anything Ford makes. They may forget how to work on them the same way they forgot how to bleed the brakes on their 1st gen ford escape hybrids. 4 ford dealerships, 3 working HCU's, not a single ford dealership can bleed the brakes. Fords are junk.

    So how does it work with the electric miles that it gains when it charges itself? Can the car run off of just those without gas?

    • @Tommy.Sherrill
      @Tommy.Sherrill 2 роки тому

      Yes, all depends on how hard you press on the gas pedal, what drive mode you are in, etc. I have found that driving in normal mode it stays electric until about 30 mph and then the engine kicks in.

    I think this 2022 comes with a $7500 non refundable tax credit.
    My question is. If I live in an apartment and can only charge 3x per week and work and stations then can I still drive with gas only? Or will it not go if the charge in batteries dies?

    You'll find out in 10 years when ford forgets how to repair it. Research the 2007 series of ford escape hybrids, and how ford tattoos vin numbers on brake parts so that they can charge you $5000 at the dealership to replace them. I have one right now that is in perfect mechanical condition, great engine, great CVT, but tomorrow it goes to the junk yard because between 3 HCU's and 4 ford dealerships, not a single ford dealership within a 100 mile radius can bleed the brakes on a 1st gen ford escape hybrid. Fords are absolute junk, and you will find this out if you keep the car for a few years.
