1:40 Echoplex doesn't change tape speed, the lever adjusts the distance between record head (mobile) and pickup head.
Eddie was also pretty well known for using an EP3 Echoplex. Which would make sense Page was an influence on him

I saw Tommy Bolan with Deep Purple at Lakeland Civic Center in the early 70s using an echoplex and was blown away. I finally bought one on eBay, can't wait to try it out.

What a find for 400.00 bucks! My secret sauce always on pedal is a Chasetone Secret Preamp, and I use a Strymon Volante as my main delay. It's reliable, but I would love to have some of the quirks of the original!

Hey what amp are you using in this video, and what was the delay time set to for example 2?
It's a 71 Fender Princeton non-reverb. Nobels ODS-1 for gain. The Marshall in the background was misbehaving that day!
Just did the delay by ear..Probably about 100ms

damn what a sound man, did you have the echoplex before any drive like page would have it in front of the amp? (no fx loop at the time) its crazy how theres no way to replicate that, my carbon copy in front of the amp sounds good for slapback but longer delays sound fussy af lol
I did .. A Nobels ODR-1. I agree it’s tough to control a delay in front of an amp without a drive to tame it!

The echoplex was to the left of the ODR .
Nice preamp! Can stompbox echoplex preamp pedal do the same thing?
Catalinbread Belle Epoch can do a similar thing .. and the Chase Preamp Is nice also !
