    What many people aren't taking into consideration is that he has the gall to charge fine dining prices for mediocre food. Something is amiss here. He did say that he trained the kitchen. If the kitchen doesn't have the experience to produce food that's commensurate to the prices you are charging, you didn't train them correctly or the recipes suck. Using a kitchen's inexperience as an excuse for mediocre food at premium prices is a bit of a cop out.

      +Will Conway Jr right? He was blaming the whole "its our first two months" excuse. If you're a celebrity chef, opening a restaurant in Times Square you better be doing 150% on everything from the minute you open. He contradicts himself when he said he brought in his culinary team, but before that it was employees coming and going.

      I agree, but you're when you're spending 15$ on an appetizer, 9$ for a plate of fries, and 20$ for a hamburger, your expectations are inflated, and you tend be be disappointed and grumpy if everything's not perfect. At least that's how it is for me. The restaurant business is a tough gig, and I'm impressed by Guy's coolness in this interview.

      he's an easy target because some of his mannerisms and styles are attributed to douches....he seems like a nice guy and Andrew Zimmern likes him which says more to me than anything else. i like his bottled BBQ sauce.

    There's a pretty easy experiment you can do at home to figure out how bad Fieri's stuff tends to be: Make a few of his recipes. And then, as you're eating it, stop and think to yourself "Would I pay 40 bucks for this at a restaurant?"

    I ate at his restaurant in Vegas and it SUCKED!! There was 4 of us, very hungry and all 4 were truly disappointed to say the least in our meals. He's a joke, a face, a name sake they made on national tv so they can continue the influx of cash from viewers.

    Only tourist eat in Times Square not New Yorkers. It's a tourist trap. No I live in the bay area and we hate his restaurant in Petaluma too.

    This critic wasn't out for blood. Guy opened a 50709 seat restaurant, in Times Square, in the food capital of the nation. He was doing everyone a service.

      Idk, I think the restaurant was probably pretty damn bad but at the same time. This is a critic who will give terrible reviews to some of the best restaurants on the planet in hopes of getting attention. The fact that he even bothered with this restaurant while pretty much everything on Times Square is themed, revolves around tourists, and is generally terrible I think proves that he was out for blood, trying to make an article that gets a lot of attention. Any critic worth listening to would’ve known to ignore the place altogether

    Truly, at the end of the day, he's only looking at the $$ that comes in from each restaurant. If he hears one or more of his restaurants are suffering, he doesn't go in himself to make it better - he appoints someone else to handle it. It's all about the MONEY. And that really sucks.

    A little note...look up Johnny Garlic. another Guy Fieri venture. It got huge bad reviews also. I don't doubt his restaurant really sucked.

      Bullshit mate he's had few bad reviews. Most recently the fat cow restaurant was shredded and the Connaught had a few shit reviews back when it opened. Just critics who can't cook being harsh arseholes.

    Ive been to his restaurant in Las Vegas. I left a worst review the this 3 years ago.
    Stale bread, cold and SLOPPY fish tacos. Weak cocktails.
    So bad! Nothing's changed!

    One has to remember, these "Big Name" restaurants all have one thing in common. THE OWNER DOESN'T COOK THE FOOD!! They probably aren't in the same State! If the food sucks then the Chefs he (or she) hired are the ones screwing it up not the Big Name owner.

    When the "critic" suggested that one of the drinks tasted like radiator fluid and formaldehyde I knew he was just being a pompous jerk. He might not have liked it, but I seriously doubt it tasted like radiator fluid and formaldehyde...if he or anyone else knows (and has lived to say) what radiator fluid and formaldehyde tastes like.

    I guess if your reputation is built on critique of Dinners and Dives this is a huge undertaking with a 500 seat restaurant. Besides NYers have a lot to choose from....this is not California where I had food from NY sent to me when I lived there. California food is really weird like the people. I left after 3 years in one day I just left Southern California. This guy is destined to fold anyway, so many do in Times Square...sooooo many. New York is very hard to survive as Jordan's joint found out. If your not there shaking hands, the food won't carry the place, just my experience being a New Yorker.

    If I know Guy, he knows what works, so for whatever reason, these critics went after him. But look at his attitude, Guy is a good guy, and he is honest and fun, and I have watched him on The 3 D's. People really like him! I like him!

    I like Guy as a TV personality but the food at his restaurant was horrible. One of his chains in San Jose CA closed down within a year due to lack of business.

    He should of done a video showing what goes into these meals that he said tasted like fish or toxic waste. Does the guy reviewing not like tequila maybe? I'll admit when you get a watermelon margarita you expect it to be red, not blue! I never tried his restaurant but I would of loved to have tried it. Although when your in NYC there are SO many good restaurants why the hell would you go there?

    Check the reviews for his restaurants in Los Angeles. They are all low and complain about the quality of the food. I wonder what guy has to say to that. There is no one with an agenda, leaving the reviews. They are just people.

    i agree with the critic...i recently tried Burro Borracho in Las Vegas and It was horrible. it almost seems like a knock off of Mexican food. I don't see how people can like this when the flavor is not their.

    Obviously the cooks suks. He brings in genuine menus, its how the staff operates and how the food is facilitated. Like many restaurants in ny, the service is not regulated to utmost. Short-cuts, hygience, and discipline are not exercised.

    Guy is to The Food Network, what Oprah was to CBS...Triple D is my favourite Food Network show...That food reviewer, clearly, doesn't like Guy Fieri, even if the food isn't up to the reviewer's standard...The review seemed mean-spirited, snarky and sarcastic...Ironically, that NYT food reviewer is, now, being reviewed.

    I've been in Restaurants for decades and I've learned that people eat for status. I've been to high end places and most of them taste like everywhere else, one really sucked ass. I've been to one that the whole meal was 7.00 and some change, I remember that most. Stop celebrating these paper(chefs) most of them suck.

    I've seen a ton of Diners Drive inns and Dives episodes and guy never bashed anyone...always praised them and I'm guessing to help them mom and pop places get more customers. For the NY Times to come in to bash one of his restaurants is just plain wrong. Yes Guy is a face and comes off as flashy to promote his stuff and honestly, watching him cook makes me cringe because he doesn't stick with simplicity to let the food itself shine but yet adds everything in the pantry and icebox into a dish including the kitchen sink. But the NY Times should of kept their nose out of it and let the man be to make a few extra bucks on the side with that restaurant and also be able to give more jobs out to people that need and want to work hard for their money.

      What an absurd claim! Most restaurants have a 2-7% profit margin. Do you really think they're wasting any of that revenue source on 'hiring critics to bring down guy' ? Give your head a shake
