Growing Giant Pumpkins 2022 Episode 10 - Fertilizing, and September Maintenance

Trying to grow a 2000lb Giant Pumpkin - week-by-week series
EPISODE 10 - September 3rd
The pumpkins have grown a lot in August. The patches are full of leaves, and all the vines have been terminated. Now all the growth goes to the pumpkins. It's still hot during the day, but is getting colder at night so the pumpkins are covered in comforters/duvets overnight. I'm fertilizing them about once a week, and watering every day that it doesn't rain.
Less than 4 weeks until the big weigh-off competitions start.

The main ingredient here js passion, love and patience. Just wondering as you put so many chemicals I suppose is not quite healthy. If that's what they put on our vegetables daily, It is quite scary what they give us to eat.

I think you can maintain the round shape of a pumpkin using sand. You need to add sand under the sides of a pumpkin while it is growing and harden the sand so that it makes support for the fruit.

When you say terminate the vine's are you removing all the side shoot's off the main vain?

No I keep the secondary vines, but when they reach the end of their growing area I cut off their growing tips. I also remove the tertiary growth from the secondaries

Are you strictly watering and foliar feeding by hand?

Yes. I've tried sprinklers and drip irrigation before, but prefer doing it by hand
