Watching this in 4k on a 65 inch 4k UHDTV is awesome. Mother Nature always knows how to put on a show to remind us how insignificant we really are in the grand scheme of things.....Nature is both very beautiful and frightening in this video. Kudos to these people with titanium balls that weigh a ton each to get this close to this monster.
I simply have no words for how amazing this is and i really hope everyone is OK there... I live in the Netherlands, an extremely boring country where we pretty much never get a tornado which is really good for us, but I still really want to film at least 1 big real-life tornado from a safe but close distance before I die. (Yes of course I hope it won't destroy too much because i'm not one of these assholes that go like 'WOW LOOK AT THAT BEAUTIFUL DESTRUCTION SO COOL OMG!')
everyone is ok?. What the fuck man. Do yoi see houses around no. Maybe cars, but they shouldnt be out with a tornado. For fucks sake. Well, unless you talking about animals such as cows
they are professionals. and the path of a stovepipe tornado is pretty easy to determine, at least from their perspective. I understand it a bit. It's something to do with the jetstream, direction of the clouds and other stuff.
maybe a strange question, but does every tornado turn the same way, when It spins? I don't mean the path they take but when the tornado spins around. Like water always when It draines, left spinning.
Amazing up close shot of an amazingly beautiful perfect tornado. Btw Reed where is the footage of you being arrested for driving through a police road block to get this Amazing shot? Lol j/k did the cop give you a warning? I was watching the other storm chaser that was behind you and he yelled out your name. After watching their video of this monster I had to see if I could find your footage. Because from the other guys video it looks like you and the cop drive straight into it without a care lol. But no I realize it was further away than it looked. No doubt you were still extremely close , thanks for risking your life for these truly amazing videos.
looks like a strong EF-3 possibly a small EF-4, i like how reed focused in on the ground speed in all the clips. A lot of the damage in tornados are due to the how fast the tornado moved on the ground. I also noticed that the smaller in diameter the tornado got the faster the ground speed increased. The debris cloud was massive too If your looking for a more dramatic tornado video, there are lots on here but from a perspective view you can't get much better.
Which is why the EF rating sucks. The original Fujita was based wind speed and it could be determined by the film that you see in this instance. One would have to be a physicist or have a PHD in mathematics to get the correct speed but it could be done. The worst part of the EF scale is that all estimated wind speeds were lowered so it appears that we are having stronger tornado's when in fact we are not.
+John Smith John is right, ever since the new F scale was created it is very hard to predict how large the tornado actually is. When I said it looks like a EF-3 or possibly a EF-4 is was simply just judging it from how large in diameter the funnel looked and how much wind speed I could see. I am not a tornado specialist I just love watching a research them. I have been fascinated by extreme weather my entire life. So I base a lot of my knowledge on old tech.
I have always wanted to see a tornado in real life not on a tv or iPod sadly I don't live somewhere that gets a lot of tornados about 1 each summer. But this video is amazing!!
I am amazed you got as close to that big one as you did. I thought you would have been more wise, The trouble is maybe the bigger ones do not move as much but i could see the power in that tornado from the camera, you guys where still rolling towards it, Silly but amazing.. Con grats.
they where literally a couple of hudred meters away, and heading towards it. Yes i know they have those but.... at one point we did see how far the car was from the actual tornado on the ground and it was not that far. anyways...
Mother nature's so crikey amazing! I wish someday I would capture a tornado but far distance. I even like the sounds of tornadoes, it kind of relax me with chills.🌪🌪🌪
Now that's a nasty looking tornado. It's bigger than a "Get out of Dodge" tornado. It's as nasty looking as a "Get out of Stalingrad tornado". That is some serious stuff.
I live in dodge city and yesterday was a day to remember. We went to the women's center to hide in the basement and after the tornadoes were gone we drove behind the boot hill casino and we saw damaged houses with no roofs and trees were laying down there tookin out of the ground. P.S. There were about 4 tornadies!!!
Wow, you guys got an incredible shot. Hopefully that monster just stayed on the plains without hurting anyone or property. You guys stay safe out there.
Jesus christ that's close. Taking such a risk. Granted these guys are smart enough to be able to predict a lot of stuff based on what they're seeing but if that thing suddenly shifted directions then you're in trouble. The whole time I was sitting there going "Ok, he's gonna stop now. Ok maybe now? Ok he's gotta stop now.."
not its not, a monster would be a F5 which can get a mile wide or more, this is nowhere close to a monster. Its maybe a football field wide at best. But man they look so crazy up close no matter the size!!!
I know one day you're just gonna say F* it and drive right into it... be careful... and see how much better it is without all the yelling/noise in the car? Wow awesome job thumbs up!!!!!
He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And if you gaze long into an abyss, the abyss also gazes into you. ~Nietzsche
Damn, talk about the money shot, that may be the best video I have ever see of a tornado. What a rager
Ikr
The Big F U
não quero ver muito chato.
Best tornado video ever in the whole history of twister documentation
"I gotta go, Julia. We got cows."
Ataraxia "actually I think that was the same one... "
It just blew my mind. Simply amazing.
Pun intended?
He is literally driving RIGHT into it...
Yeah, Reed is kinda crazy like that. I wonder if he was in his Dominator when he was chasing this.

Mother Nature? how do you know (mother nature ) is not a transgendering man?
Mother Nature is what most people say...I think it is from some kind of religious book....
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) I like it that way ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) you homophobe
That is a truly gorgeous tornado.
Nice and white and peaceful looking. A Trump tornado😉

Amazing video! Best one I've seen yet!
This is what I call "close-up". Really amazing video! I wish, I could be there to see it too :)
What an absolutely beautiful stove pipe with a nice rope out at the end!
Remarkable and stunning photography of a very scary tornado. Great catch!
ur so close that ur giving me anxiety.. i know they're deadly but i think they're beautiful.
Right off the bat in the first 20 seconds they were too close....awesome video!!
that is one of the best quality tornado videos i ever seen
Is that an F4?
it's sad how much damage I'm sure these tornadoes have been doing...but God, this is so cool! great video
Wow!!! Incredible footage Reed! Congrats to you!!
The zoom is pretty nice on those cameras. Always fascinating how little rain and lightning there is in these videos...
I simply have no words for how amazing this is and i really hope everyone is OK there... Come to Kansas or Oklahoma in May.
Yeah - they're OK in Oklahoma
everyone is ok?. What the fuck man. Do yoi see houses around no. Maybe cars, but they shouldnt be out with a tornado. For fucks sake. Well, unless you talking about animals such as cows
+Anakin “Darth Vader” Skywalker He was speaking generally. It's tornado season. there will be more.
+gale212 ok cool.
Ef-3? Also, how do you know if the tornado won't shift her tracks and come at you?!
they are professionals. and the path of a stovepipe tornado is pretty easy to determine, at least from their perspective. I understand it a bit. It's something to do with the jetstream, direction of the clouds and other stuff.
It was a EF-3
maybe a strange question, but does every tornado turn the same way, when It spins? I don't mean the path they take but when the tornado spins around. Like water always when It draines, left spinning.
What did they rate this tornado? Did it stay in open fields? I sure hope so!
Where exactly did this touch down?
Amazing up close shot of an amazingly beautiful perfect tornado. Btw Reed where is the footage of you being arrested for driving through a police road block to get this Amazing shot? was this to strong for an intercept?
looks like a strong EF-3 possibly a small EF-4, i like how reed focused in on the ground speed in all the clips. A lot of the damage in tornados are due to the how fast the tornado moved on the ground.

EF rating cannot be ascertained by tornado appearance. A damage survey must be performed.
Which is why the EF rating sucks. The original Fujita was based wind speed and it could be determined by the film that you see in this instance. You can say what you want about Reed, but he has balls of steel. Great footage, but maybe a bit less zooming in/out would be better...
Is that an f4 or f3
it's a ef3 ?
F4 for sure. that rotation and up draft dayyyum
Based on what? No damage survey has been performed yet.
It’s not the wind speed that determines it it’s the damage path
can someone tell me, as you start to get closer does it suck you in??
Yes, it does. Their vehicle latches to the ground, though
***** tf LOL
There's no place like home there's no place like home
so reed how's the new dominator?
Tornadoes are like popping cysts. You want to turn around and walk away, but you just want to keep staring.
I have always wanted to see a tornado in real life not on a tv or iPod sadly I don't live somewhere that gets a lot of tornados about 1 each summer. But this video is amazing!!
Hey look at that tornado! Lets DRIVE TO IT!
STUPID
SILENCE NINNY!!
Youve never seen these guys? They have an armored tank (or two actually) built specifically to do this stuff. They had a show on TWC for a while.
+Hawk Acid EXACTLY! :)
Could you take a and build a rc car with gps and a gopro camera and drive it into a tornado?
this one cleaned up its own mess.
Good tornado!
I am amazed you got as close to that big one as you did.
I thought you would have been more wise, The trouble is maybe the bigger ones do not move as much but i could see the power in that tornado from the camera, you guys where still rolling towards it, Silly but amazing..
Con grats.
remember they have digital zoom, telephoto camera lenses, etc as well as driving in close.
they where literally a couple of hudred meters away, and heading towards it. Yes i know they have those but.... at one point we did see how far the car was from the actual tornado on the ground and it was not that far. anyways...
Where's Bill Paxton to exaggerate his emotions when you need him. Great video.
fantastic video.thanks
Holy banana's!!! How do you. Go inside a tornado?
superb! glad you got around the sheriff tryin' to block the road!
does anybody know why he isn't chasing in any of the dominators
The dominator was out doing it thing. I don't think reed was in it though
+Brendan ostrowski thats the thing he could tell us
why not?
Well done Reed!
My God Reed, how can anyone surpass this? Driving down the throat of the Dodge City Tornado.
The Man who looked into the eyes of the Gorgon and lived!
I love your videos
That is awesome. That would have been a good on to intercept. Could have gotten good readings from it.
i don't think some of those residents were in Kansas anymore..
amazing work!So close!
That must of had been a f3-f4 tornado due to the time of power that it was ripping.
You got some serious balls doing that bro
I live in dodge city and yesterday was a day to remember. We went to the women's center to hide in the basement and after the tornadoes were gone we drove behind the boot hill casino and we saw damaged houses with no roofs and trees were laying down there tookin out of the ground. Awesome footage but maybe a little too close? Be careful out there.
Wow, you guys got an incredible shot. Hopefully that monster just stayed on the plains without hurting anyone or property. You guys stay safe out there.
we have bad news on that 2nd sentence.
Just had one in my neck of the woods. Fortunately no damage or injuries I'm aware of.
That looks mesmerizing.
awesome video.
Awesome and amazing footage! Even better it was just in a field and not endangering people or property.
now thats monster
it looks like a 5 tornado
+Tori Miglioratti considering there is hardly anything for the tornado to hit out there, it definitely will not be rated an ef5
not its not, a monster would be a F5 which can get a mile wide or more, this is nowhere close to a monster. Its maybe a football field wide at best. But man they look so crazy up close no matter the size!!!
Ryan Schindigg
a 'monstrous stove pipe', absolutely majestic
EF scale is based upon the type and severity of damage the tornado produced. Not size.
That is as close as I'm going to get. Glad it missed. Powerful.
There were tornadoes in Oklahoma too that day
Fantastically frightening.
Lord have mercy on anyone or thing in its path.
wow. Incredible!
These guys are so crazy 0.o
ITS THE WONDER OF NATURE, BABY!
perfect vídeo
Simply awesome!!!!
Anti cyclonic? It looks cyclonic but idk
I know one day you're just gonna say F* it and drive right into it... be careful... and see how much better it is without all the yelling/noise in the car? Wow awesome job thumbs up!!!!!
They did I think? The comment on the video says they got an intercept... something about the video maybe messed up though :(
so Cool, I would love to see one in person.
It was the first ever touchdown of a tornado in dodge city I was in a basement trying to survive:p
WE'RE STORMCHASERS, IT'S WHAT WE DO
the tornado was a Ef3 tornado
Great capture!! Love this weather porn!!
this is wonderful
I think EF 0s - EF 3s hit around there. Otherwise wouldn’t have gotten that close.

YES!! Now this is how you do it Baby!!! AWESOME!!
nice vid but still pissed they took down their streaming site with no notice to anyone.
I've seen these things scour the asphalt off of roads they cross...
That is the scariest thing I've ever seen!
Imagine if that hit a populated area like OKC or Dallas holy fuck
how to play with your own bodily destruction like a toy..... right on
Tornadic perfection...
God bless your soul,I pray you stay safe😘
Guys great tornado!
I really really would not have gone that close!
A bit too close.
That was a frustratingly disappointing ending... missed the break up badly...
I thought it was the new type of tornado called a storm
Kansas must go through a lot of wires and telephone poles with shit like this deciding to wander around all the time.
Wow that looks like a tornado, 😮
