    I'm gettting back into the hobby after a 5 year break. That is my second heli and it's been sitting under a sheet of plastic in the basement for almost 5 years. I'm very much a noob and seeing your tips on set up are really helpful. I've done all of this hobby on my own so to have someone like you explain things so well is invaluable. I had it hovering pretty well way back when, but I know I could do a better job after seeing this. I plan to relocate the receiver to the same area you did. I have to laugh looking at mine. I mounted it to the left side of the frame on the outside. Your build is much cleaner. Thanks so much for help.

      Awesome! Welcome back to the Hobby! I’m glad you find the video was helpful. Sorry it took a while to respond I just seen your comment! Cleaning up the wiring is a big thing for me I like a nice clean model. But there is no right or wrong way to do it whatever makes you happy. I hope you get back to flying soon and thank you for watching the channel!

    I wouldn't want the 470 blades coming off and hurting someone. They fly man when they do. But thinking of getting away from blade and ordering one of these ,I must say your videos have helped me alot . although blade kinda redemption itself with the new 150s ..but still going to get away from them ,,got a closet grave yard of blades and not from crashing either just ware out ,,so hopefully these builds will last me longer ,,need something to do this winter ,,was debating on one of these or the oxy builds

      You can’t go wrong with the Trex 470LP or LM. Incredible heli and great price. Blade is a great beginning heli or if you don’t want to build but there is a bunch of better options out there. The 150s is okay but like all blades helis lacks power and expensive to rebuild after crash for what it is and heavy. I had one for a few months and sold it when I got my M2 nothing can compare to the M2 in that size. The 470 is pretty cheap to rebuild and builds quickly. OXY make some great machines as well. I’ve had a few of them over the years thanking about building a OXY 5 next or waiting for the new OXY 7 to come out

    Possibly the best heli I've ever had (LP version). Agree about the build - smooth, no issues (except a pre-bent tail shaft; all good after new one installed).
    It does like higher headspeed, though. I thought I was battling vortex ring when all I had to do was up the rpm to 3000.
    Are you in Central FL? I have the same "RC Life" sticker from Graves RC on the back of my camera helmet. I'm in Winter Garden.

      It’s a great heli! Definitely gets flown almost every day! Yes it does like head speed, I have seen they sell a speed up kit so you can run lower head speed but I like the high head speed. I use to live in south Florida but since moved to Tennessee.

    Hi again after watching all well many videos of yours.... i had a change of heart.... i wanted the oxy 4 max.... but the heli doesn't have metal in it... im going for the 470 kit.... i have a question about the satellite receivers.... i think u mentioned 1 satellite in a video and then 2 satellite.... for hard 3D recommend 2 satellite? Does the ESC or the FLB have 2 plugs for the 2 satellite receivers or is just 1 satellite with 2 antennas?
    Yes im the newbie 😁

    • @westhobbiesrc8051
      @westhobbiesrc8051  2 роки тому +1

      The 470LM is a fantastic heli! Love mine! I’ve built a few now. You only need one satellite, anything under a 500 size one satellite is more then enough. It can be any DSMX satellite. The satellite plugs into the FBL unit. If going with the stoc micro beast then only one plugs in if going Ikon/Brain 2 then you can plug two satellites in but not needed on a 470.

      @@blueromeo1974 the 470 will do anything and everything you can put it though with stock electrons out of box. I’ve got around 1000 flights in mine with all stock electronics except I went to a Ikon 2 FBL but everything else is stock. The Ikon 2 really wakes the servos up and so much better flying heli!

    Hello! Recently was pretty much considering to get 470LP. I only flied fixed pitch indoor heli and learned orientations and now can fly various routes on speed without crashing, not just random hovering. Do you think 470LP would be a great pick for the first CP heli with simulator practice? Or i still first need to take some mini CP heli for learning and only later take bigger heli like 470LP?

    • @westhobbiesrc8051
      @westhobbiesrc8051  Рік тому +1

      Hello, The 470 LP is a fantastic machine. It is a great step up from a fixed pitch model, parts are still relatively cheap in the event of a crash in it holds up very well. I think it would be a great second choice model especially if you already know your orientation and regular flying. Just remember you will have to now learn collective management meaning it is going to be a little different but all your controls will still be the same.

      @@westhobbiesrc8051 Thank you for the encouragement! Someone else on the heli forum few weeks ago was rather saying i need to stay away from big machines and even not think about such sudden jump from mini to 450-500 class, what sounded disappointing for me. So it's good to hear from you that it can work still. I also guess the bigger heli should be easier to control and to learn, and it could bring me better first impressions of a collective pitch heli, compared to a small class, right?

      @@cutefoxRC everyone has an opinion, personally I believe a 470 is not a big machine and is a perfect practice/daily flyer. Old school was learn with a 600 everything else was twitchy and uncontrollable and as it’s just not true in today’s day and age. I would personally recommend going with a iKON 2 FBL unit, Many reasons but you can really tune and adjust the helicopter slow way down to your liking you also can use auto level and rescue. I have multiple video showing how to set up an program iKON. it is definitely a better machine in a small helicopter especially with a iKON 2 FBL.
