No wonder he went through so many drummers cuz he knew what kind of sound he wanted and it's obvious cuz of how well he could play the drums. That's amazing.
He's totally dicking around on drums here for fun. He wasn't a skilled or well rehearsed drummer but he clearly liked to bang around on them from time to time. I'm the same way. It's never going to be my main instrument but it's fun to bash around on the kit. Cathartic.
He played the drums about as well as he could play guitar. He had it down, just no crazy technical fills
After the news about Steve Albini this was a welcome surprise. Thank you!
Kurt plays drums well!
Where in the video does he play the drums? Maybe I'm too buzzed!?
@@CURTEAR67 Starts around 0:53, might be some other bits.
Well é uma palavra mto forte

This rehearsal sounds like In Utero album… oh my! It blown my mind!
23:10 Kurt playing the ventures 😍
Pipeline!
We used to play that very song with our garagepunk band
By far the best Nirvana video I’ve seen! All the interaction and Dave on the drums. Amazing!
Kurt seems a bit smacked out during the rehearsal. Glad it wore off and turned into rage by the time the gig started.
What i love about this rehearsal is that,it looks like it was recorded on phone,, thus giving a picture of what nirvana could've looked like if kurt didn't die.
En ese tiempo no existían los celulares de alta gama , así que es imposible 🤔
@@raulalfarosullca6514 lo que quise decir es,que la manera en la que grabaron este ensayo parece como si lo hubieran hecho con un teléfono.
@@raulalfarosullca6514 Holy hell are you blind
Thanks you so much for these images I have never seen before
38:00 is rather nice - great camera angle of Kurt and Dave behind and they smash Scentless Apprentice. Interesting Kurt's effort into each song and the part where he hurried Krist up on the bass intro to a song
Kurt wasn’t as bad of a drummer as he claimed tbh, I get he was a perfectionist despite the image portrayed of him
And a control freak as well
The big problem with his drumming, which is apparent there, is he’s left handed playing on a right handed kit. This isn’t the worst thing in the world as left handed drummers have been successful on right handed kits. Ringo Starr and Dave Lombardi are two that come to mind. But, it’s something that needs to be practiced.
@@richardwhite4923 no doubt, I didn’t say he was the best by any means
Stop with the judgements
@@briancannon3987 what judgements I say that were bad? Lol
needed this today.thanks
I find it endlessly fascinating just watching those guys go through the "drudgery" of sound-check. The band dynamic and, of course, Kurt's general demeanour is almost
hypnotic - especially when knowing how it ultimately played out.
Prof again that drummers make awesome singers/ frontman.
This is gold. Thanks a lot!
Rip Kurt ❤
Thank u so much for posting this!!!❤
I always wondered where the shot of Kurt with the cigarette in his mouth came from as it wasn't in the show. There's some great backstage footage directly after and Kurt is just walking away from Courtney. It's a shame he couldn't get away.
🤡
He got baby trapped i think .. almost happened to me too. I was with a narcissist for 4 years and she poked holes in my condoms. She was a psycho. Same crazy eyes as courtney
Dude go outside
These Courtney/Geffen bots are pathetic.
Thanks for posting this treasure!
I saw Pat and Dave 4 days ago and I check a box odd my list .
Kurt Cobain playing a little "Pipeline" by The Ventures! 23:08
that close in on Dave obliterating the drums during the solo of Pennyroyal Tea is too nasty
the ultimate pennyroyal tea
Reading that comment while it plays - best nirvana song imo. Yeah I know it's very simple. But it's got an urgency, sobriety and desperation to it that's unmatched. I love it so much. Thanks for shouting it out!
Guitarist Al Barile is one of the founding fathers of American hardcore. His Boston band SS Decontrol (SSD) pioneered straight-edge hardcore, changing not just the landscape of hardcore punk but global youth culture. SSD released their debut, The Kids Will Have Their Say, on XClaim and Ian MacKaye’s Dischord label in 1982. Roughly 1,900 copies were pressed and quickly sold out. If you’d like one today, they sell for an average of two grand on Discogs.
The Kids Will Have Their Say was never pressed again but remained available via bootlegs and on sites like UA-cam. Barile and his bandmates never went after anyone for the streams, reasoning that the music was in circulation and finding listeners. Lately, though, Barile has faced challenges that have forced him to consider his legacy, including a forced retirement due to back pain and cancer.
More than four decades later, that reissue will arrive next week via Trust Records. Decibel has heard it, and, boy, it sounds amazing. After so many years of subpar streams, it’s nice to hear the nuance and detail of the recording. All the variants of the album are sold out.
The reissue was remastered from the safety version of the original master tapes. Engineers worked around mold and water damage to renovate the recording. Hardcore fans of all generations will appreciate their efforts. Barile talked to us about SSD’s debut and the staying power of Straight Edge.
How did this project start? Was it the lack of access to a proper copy of the album?
The album came out in 1982. We made about 1,900 of them, and they sold out in a few months. We picked them up in New Jersey, drove back to Boston, and dropped copies off along the way. The record almost sold out by the time we got home. Initially, I was focused on our second record. Back then, it didn’t make sense to repress the album. We just moved on to other things.
I considered releasing it in 1992 when I had a second band, Gage. I thought it might be a good time to put it on my label and help Gage. Ultimately, I kept it pure and didn’t use SSD to prop up my other band. People contacted me once a year to put it out, but I never saw a reason why. It was always available online, and I never told anyone to take it down. I had an idea for a greatest hits at one point, but then CDs started fading away.
In 2018, I was forced out of my job (as a lifelong mechanical engineer) because of my health. (Years later) I talked to Keith Morris of Circle Jerks, who hooked me up with Trust Records. They matched where I wanted to go. I’m a creator and not a seller, so I left it with the professionals.
Like many Misfits 45s, SSD’s debut is worth thousands.
I’ve seen our records sell for more than $2,000. There is always a market for our album.
Straight edge hardcore, no one cares.
Thanks for the infomercial. Jesus Christ...how much did that ego cost?
@@DonBurtonsays...about 2,000 dollars 😂
Sir, this is a Wendy’s
Dave destroying the drums in the rehearsal.
Dave was so innocent back then. I dont like the way Chris and especially Kurt used to act toward him, like 2 smart asses
Oh, did you meet Dave?
@@alejo7365 What's your point?
@@norrinradd1 I tought was just me that noticed that. They used to bulling him
Thanks for this! A shame their tone differs from RFUS during the soundcheck and the evening show.
everything wouldve sounded the same had they mixed it like that
they massacred the live and loud show on the mixing end, i can't find it now (probably dmca takedown) but there was an alternate audience recording of live and loud that sounded WAYYY different, not just mic position different, but exaggeratedly different.
Pat Smeer looks so happy.
I know I'd be if I had his job as 2nd guitar player for Nirvana.
Как курт серьёзно относился к звуку на концерте, к вокалу , здорово👍
Cobain on drums is playing a paradiddle beat (right left right right left right left left).
nice
This is pre back of the jacket split!
Haha I just noticed that .

Is that Allen wrench at 2:12?
It's their tech guitar guy
Damn why'd he have to go
kurt was in a horrible mood with dave at the end there, yikes
Kurt was a sound perfectionist so I’m sure the fact they played almost their entire set and Dave still having monitor issues wasn’t sitting well.
THEY DIDN'T NEED PAT.THEY WERE ALWAYS A POWER TRIO.
I agree, but tell that to kurt if he were still around. He saw it as less responsibility for himself.
I don’t agree with that. Pat added a lot and let Kurt be more relaxed on the guitar as he was doing vocals. Also Pats energy on stage is so contagious and entertaining. He was a great addition and it’s unfortunate we couldn’t hear them play together in a 4th album.
nirvana was always meant to be a 4 piece he just couldn't get the right chemistry with others he hired in. this would have been great had he gone on. oh well.
I think it sounded better with the second guitar, but only when they were tight.
