What are the headers used on this unit ??? Ford guys have issues getting good sized headers for our trucks ! Accufab make big tubed headers for 1993 lightnings and they fit 80 body style trucks too. Just a little info if anyone needs help !
Looking at this motor again it looks like a 408W. BUT, you can build a 351C with a 4" stroke crank and a .030 inch overbore to have a 408C. Or you could take a 351M (like that came in a lot of 77-79 trucks) and put a 400 crank in it as well as a .030 inch overbore to make a 408ci "Modified" 335-series. Just because it's 408ci doesn't mean it is a Windsor, but I believe this one is.
Do you have over heating issues without using the shroud? I would imagine you could gain extra HP and MPG if you let that stroker do less work elsewhere. Go Electric
I had overheating issues to the fuel lines without a shroud but the water temp stayed at 180. I'm putting a shroud on and putting a smaller carb on as well and it should run a lot better.
What headers are you running and what mufflers? I am doing a 351W swap on a 79 F150 as well but haven't figured which headers will work with the clutch linkage.
broncoformudv idk if ya already done the header swap. but on my f350 with the 400m I used hooker headers. clutch linkage did get in the way I had to cut and bend the left headers to get around it but was easy. didn't take to long to do it.
Matt Whitworth I was talking to cthomas about the F150 in the video since it has a 351W and a 4spd. Ford didn't offer the 302 or 351W in a 4x4 during the 70's and I haven't found anyone that makes headers for this engine swap.
That 400m in your 79 is a small block, 429-460 are big blocks. The good news about the 400 though is that means your truck has a c6 if it’s automatic. Same bell housing pattern as the big blocks. 351m and 400 are the same motor virtually
Thats what it is...351m is a de stroked 400 which is a tall deck stroker 351 c with big bell housing to hook up HD c6 trans. Am gonna assume he pulled the 351 crank and went with the 400 crank along with a 20 over bore big cam maybe flat top pistons. This is a power house of a motor
not doggin on ya but i dont think you can add a little enough measurement to the stroke to achieve 1 cubic inch per cylinder if you stroked the 400 lol
The truck is in great shape, no rust holes.
79 sure was a good year.
Even better now with update motor
Wow a real Ford truck! Made of steel
That’s what I want she sounds so good right there
OMG that cam.. it sounds amazing
got a 351w 92 Bronco that I am turning into a 383 Stroker w/ Cam, this video gets me excited lol
One badass and beautiful truck. Period.

Does the truck still exist?
i want to know as well
Whats the blue cylinder on drivers side on fender well. My 72 has a coffee can there for vaccum reservoir
Where did you get those trac bars?!? Building a 408 for my truck with same size lift and tires and wanted to throw some on there really bad!
L@L products says right on the haha.
good lord the cam shaft in that thing must look like a crank lol
Sounds like a mutha thumpr cam, nice truck and nice work
thats a damn sexy truck
I plan on building a stroker for my 81 Ford f100 4x4, how much did it cost you?

So so sweet
Sounds awesome!
What cam do you got in there? Tht thing sounds awsome
What kinda headers are you using on this truck?
what are the headers? I just did a 357 swap in my 79 but couldnt find headers to fit
408 stoker is a 351w thats been stroked.
how fast was that tach going when it got plastered into the dash?
sounds awesome!
Is it still running?
Based on the width of the engine and the front of the block, I believe it's a 408 Windsor, but I'm not 100% sure...
Small block 👍
Definitely a Windsor.

Do you have any videos or pictures of how you ran your exhaust? I'm about to run mine and would like to get some ideas. Thanks.

broncoformudv Oh gotcha. I see what you mean now.
broncoformudv Mac makes headers. like $450a set though
great truck ! one question I've been looking for rims identical to those wouldn't happen too know the name or brand would you ?
Edwin Dorado
Mickey Thompson classics
how do you have the pipes run on that after the headers?
Where did u buy the ladder bars for it n what size of lift do u have
whats the lift duration on that cam... bad ass truck man
What tires you got on that thing.
I like 38s with half tons but I got a 351m
That '79 sounds mean. Like a bunch of horsepower under the hood. Love the way it sounds. Maybe I could cam the 400 big block in my '79 f-150.
I have a icky cam in my 400m it sou do like a beast
isky*

Dumass a small block is A 302 or 289 thats a small block us 400 oners will tell y that
@@sportsman335 400 is considered a 385 series
What type of muffler system do you have on it?
Love it man
Doesn't it get hot without the fan shroud?
Cool Guy , nope, it never did. 4-core radiator
Whats a 408 stroker originate from? a 351m or like a 400?
351 Windsor
Where did you get those style of seats?
where can i steal it?
Whats cam specs
What rims are these
Shake much?
What mufflers were you running?
Is it for sale?
its not perfect, but man that is one beautiful truck!!
nice ass ride man
Nice
IL buy this truck from you if you still have it..no bs, I'm I'm the market for one.
waz the motor a 351w that has been built to 408
Highest I've heard of on a 351 is 383 stroker
460 cubic inches achievable of a 351 Windsor. This is not a chevy lol.
Was the engine a 351W that was built to 408? No it was a 400M with a slight bore to achieve 408 cid.
How does that make it a 408 STROKER if it's a 400 that was bored?? No it was a 351w that was bored and stroked to 408 cubes
good thing about the 408 is no work has to be done to the block unlike a chevy. They also make bigblock torque with matching hp.
Thats one mean sounding truck!!!! it would be twice as mean if it was a 408 Cleveland stroker
@@coreysharp9794 it is a 351 Windsor, bored and stroked to a 408. Not a M or a Cleveland.
@@CrazyDuck80 even better
Please let me know if you want to sale your 79 interested
I want cam specs!!! lol
get a nice stock bench seat new carpet and a paint job it will be a choice truck
I think its originally a 351M with a 400 crank and bored .030 over. At least thats what my brother truck was.
Don't point out her flaws man that's just not right.
slyder139 it’s not flaws it’s character
Id have to say windsor... just because i have never seen the alt on that side of a cleve mod or 400
not doggin on ya but i dont think you can add a little enough measurement to the stroke to achieve 1 cubic inch per cylinder if you stroked the 400 lol
It was never a 400, it was a 351 Windsor that was stroked to a 408.
gimme
400 big block?? Sorry but, no such thing...
Y are the only smart one think y a small bloke is a 302 or 289
Yea but l was saying the 400 is a good engines they run and dirve like big blokes
Bruce, before commenting about someone's truck, know what the hell you're talking about.
Think y
400 is considered a 385 series. If we are using the wrong terms, the 385 series are big blocks
hate cali smog :(
totally useless combination
